I was recommended to Rogerson Chiropractic from a friend who found him through Groupon, knowing I was in dire need of ART. As an active Crossfitter having experienced extreme limited shoulder mobility for over a year, I had tried multiple techniques to gain back my range. I had spent a good amount on massage therapists and have seen other chiros that almost did the job but never fully restored my muscles to where I wanted to be. For perspective, my 1RM max snatch was 125#...I couldn't even do 100#. :( Mike was thorough in my first initial consultation assessing my range, or lack thereof, and immediately knew where and what kind of techniques to use. He was really surprised to see the difference between my right and left arm, it was actually really sad. With my body type, I needed to find someone who can apply that extra pressure naturally. I feel guilty asking for pressure if I can sense they can't handle it. But after 20 mins of applying strong ART, we re-tested my range and I think we were both amazed by how much more I could move my right arm. Moving away from Santa Clara, I don't know what I am going to do without Dr. Mike! One of the techniques he practices is ART (Active Release Therapy). Basically, it's a massage technique that helps to relieve problems with muscles, tendons, fascia, etc. I kept having trouble with my low back and hips, and it seemed it part because an overly tight piriformis kept wrenching my pelvis out of position. Nice. Dr. Mike started ART on my piriformis, TFL and IT band - and everything showed immediate improvement. The level of relief it gave me was immense - and I was able to up my intensity with CrossFit and roller derby rather than continue to either rest or avoid specific muscle groups, as I had been doing. This review is long overdue but life has been with its series of challenges. This chiropractor is by far the most thorough thoughtful skilled chiropractor I have ever met. I came in for a massage a few months following an auto accident since i was already seeing another chiropractor before i knew about Dr. Rogerson, and he was very helpful in ascertaining what some of the issues were as they related to pinched nerves and what areas were affected as a result of my spine issues from the accident. This was confirmed by assessment tests and methodical palpation and massage of the affected areas, followed by relief or confirmation of pain in the areas he was addressing during the massage and consult. I was working and in a very long daily commute so I was unfortunately not able to see Dr. Rogerson on an ongoing basis but I would not hesitate to recommend him under any circumstance if you need a competent caring practitioner that will be able to address your health issues in the areas of chiropractic and muscle health medicine. If I was just located in the area I would have gone to see him for ongoing treatment for my health issues. I was given recommendations but I never felt pressured into treatment as he was equally listening to my experience as he was educating and making recommendations. Just as an aside, I was a skeptic when it came to the usefulness of chiropractic treatment and massage prior to my accident but I can tell you most certainly that with the right practitioner, such treatments definitely help. So this review is for anybody who is on the fence about such treatment and their efficacy. Was I better off for having made a visit to Rogerson Chiropractic and would I recommend him? Well, I have always been afraid of Chiropractors because of the sound my body makes when I get adjusted, so I always hesitate due to the aggressiveness of the treatment. This was my first experience visiting a chiropractor. I don't currently experience any chronic backpain but wanted to come in for a spinal adjustment. I made an appointment with dr. Though Dr. Mike Rogerson was a friend from church, I hadn't really been in need of his services, as my back was doing okay. That is until my back officially went out. The pain was so intense that my wife had to helplessly watch the pain bring me to tears, and not know what to do. I knew I needed help, but don't have medical insurance. And my experience with chiropractors was less than stellar (One chiro doctor permanently injured my leg, not fun).
