Efficient, relaxed and perfect for last-minute travel jabs or the sudden onset of flu (but you just…read moreknow has to be Ebola), Grafton St. Medical Centre is the first place I recommend for locals and visitors alike. Absorbing the second floor of a building just off of Grafton Street's thoroughfare, the medical centre is divided into two areas: regular visits and patients travelling abroad. The rotating staff of very capable GPs are, while fast, working hard to treat you completely. My first visit was with Dr. Emer O'Reilly a great doctor with a brilliant personality. She advised me on my perscriptions, gave me a check up, then sat down to discuss my overall health and well being. Lovely! As for costs there are no bargains to be had, unfortunately. An average appointment will run you €60 -about the same as most Dublin doctors. But, for the money there is a fantastic resource here. I've made sure to recommend this place (and this doctor) to visiting and local friends who may be feeling under the weather and I'm delighted to do the same for you.

The doctors here are pretty good, at least all the ones I had contact with. And even though they know you usually have a GP elsewhere they do try and look after you as fully as possible.

And…read morewell I did something to my big toe, and after suffering for a bit it occurred to me that the frozen peas might not be the medical experts i took them for. Anyway I had previously noticed this new(ish) walk in Dr's surgery, which I thought I could use. Mostly I use the college doc but it was too far to hobble. So off I hobbled to this surgery with its odd, but actually quite convenient opening hours. The reception area is a bit off-putting. There is no receptionist... but there is CCTV and it's assumed that the waiters will organise themselves in the order in which they came into the holding area (it honestly felt more like a holding area than a waiting room). With the austere surroundings I though the doctors would not be nice, but actually the doctor I met with was really lovely and quite sympathetic to my dislocated (as it turns out) toe. The price of the visit was pretty high too, higher than my own GP by a bit. All in all the place was handy in my hobbling 'emergency' but I wouldn't like to go their regularly... it's bad enough feeling sick without going somewhere that makes you feel like you've also committed a crime. Yes, these things matter!

I have to say I never thought I'd be writing a five star review for a doctor! They are usually so…read moreuninterested and keen to write out scripts, that I never feel like I've done some good spending with my 50 - 70 yoyos. Went here for the first time earlier, and was greeted with the friendliest GP I've ever come across. She sat down beside me and just listened, then chatted with me as if she were a friend, offered solid advice and many options to suit me, and was even eager to save me money on a few things. Besides this, when I arrived in the centre, I had to wait a max of 3-4 minutes before being seen. The place is smack bang in the middle of Smithfield, so really easy access-wise, and it's pretty brand new, so nice and bright, airy and clean looking. Overall, my visit gave me full confidence in their abilities, something I'd very rarely say about any visit to a GP centre!

I am nervous as you can imagine. Nobody likes to have a needle stuck in them. Well, me neither. But everybody is very kind and comforting. Never had this before in any medical centre I visited. 1* For the reception : as I come in, I announce myself to the girl at reception. She is friendly and that's reassuring. 1* For the place : it is modern and clean. Also, on a chilly day like today a little hea Let's get this done and I will review after how it went.

Would not recommend!…read more I never normally right reviews but after my experience at the Ballsbridge Medical Centre I feel I need too. I am still shaking from my experience. Having been in agony for with a suspected kidney infection I searched for the closet doctor to my office which opened first thing. I am still on probation at work so didn't want to miss time off. I booked online picking the first appointment 8am. I'll hold my hands up that I didn't notice you needed a confirmation email before turning up for an appointment. But I had searched online at 2am with lack of sleep and booked when i woke up. I also got confirmation my booking form was submitted successfully. I showed her on my phone how there is an option to book online at 8am and that I "showed up" thinking the appointment would be confirmed and I wouldn't make it in time to the surgery. But before I had a chance to explain this to the Dr she was angry and had a go at me for just turning up. This went on as she created my patient file, blaming me for giving her the incorrect mobile number. She had an extra digit and couldn't complete the form. But this was my fault of course. She also made a point of asking if I was Ms or Miss and If I drank or smoked. She asked me twice putting it down to her having to fill in two boxes on the form. But I clearly said no to both. I felt like she was trying to make some point her but what type of point I don't know. As she answered calls coming into the surgery - which I had no issue with she still managed to project her angry at me while I stood at the desk in agony. I too started to get angry back of which I am ashamed I went to her level but being in pain, lack of sleep and being scolded like a bold child would do that to you. She also told me I was wasting time but she was taking calls at the same time as creating my file so how I was wasting time I have no idea. Eventually I went to give a sample which was hard to do because of the pain and because I was shaking and upset at the doctors attitude. I had asked her if her attitude would impact my level of care. She said it would not and I asked her if it was an older person turning up "out of the blue" in pain would they have received this attitude - no comment to this. My examination was brief to say the least and I having pulled myself together in the toilet I made sure I was polite, saying please and thank you thinking this would soften the Dr. But no such joy. Having said all this I do understand I was at fault "showing up". However, dealing with the attitude that was projected towards me from the minute the surgery door opened until I paid and left was uncalled for. I did feel I should have apologized for getting angry as growing up I've always been told to respect people like doctors, nurses etc which given the job they do I totally get that. However, I really do feel if this was an older person they would not have been subjected to this level of unprofessionalism. Yes the Dr might be the greatest thing since sliced bread according to some reviews, but when you are a new patient, young and maybe not the same level as clientele (D4) she is use to dealing with you don't get the same level of courtesy. I am grateful to have been seen and to get some relief from the pain but I don't think it was worth the hassle. Needless to say I won't be attending the surgery again and would not recommend anyone else to visit.
