Dr. Mehta in 2015 attributed a long-standing problem to an eating disorder dating back to high school. I was 56 with very severe constipation that had been going on for years. I happened to see my chart with his note referring to my problem as psychological. I recently went to ER for a bowel obstruction. Multiple tests were performed indicating a nonfunctional colon due to its size and tortuousness. Not because of laxative use, an eating disorder, nor psychological issues. Simply because I was born with it. Had Dr. Mehta been more dedicated to solving my problem and less inclined to label "an hysterical woman," perhaps I would have enjoyed more quality of life these past several years... glad I have finally been seen by a doctor who is interested in helping me.

At that juncture, my healthcare had been poorly managed, resulting in multiple unaddressed health problems. Dr. Candocia patiently and attentively listened to my medical history and complaints, setting me on the correct path from Day One. He ordered necessary tests and sent me to a couple of specialists who were as attentive, quick and caring as he was. Bit by bit, like peeling an onion, we dealt with layer after layer of health-related complaints. I was most impressed when he had a question regarding my care from another specialist. He immediately picked up the phone and contacted the other physician to get the information we needed. Physically, I feel so much better and know that he will always be available to help me.

In labor and delivery, the nurse told us that the facility was recently updated. All the medical equipment was new, and the fetal monitor they used was even wireless. The only slight hiccup was that there was nearly no room in postpartum care. Fortunately, we got the last room in the overflow floor. Having giving birth in another state, I was extremely impressed by how updated everything was in the overflow room - the shower was brand new, and the bed could be operated to lengthen or sit at various angles. For pain management, I was a little surprised that their policy is to give ibuprofen only upon request. At the previous hospital I was at, they had a regimen switching between Tylenol and ibuprofen. Parking was probably the most difficult part. The main parking lot is a little far, and you have to use a different entrance if you're coming in the evening (rather than the main entrance of the women's hospital). However, when we left, my partner was able to temporarily park in the rotunda to make the commute a little shorter.
