Our family has stayed here many times over the years, but after this recent interaction, we won't be coming back. We booked a stay for next year, received a confirmation email, and had a deposit withdrawn from our account -- only to have the deposit refunded days later without any communication whatsoever. When I called to find out what happened, Julia told me there was a "website issue" and that we never should've been able to book because next year's rates haven't been set yet. This directly contradicted the confirmation email, which clearly stated our rate was locked in. When I asked if they could honor the confirmed rate -- a basic standard in most reputable businesses -- Julia became defensive and irate. She told me, verbatim, that if I thought she was a terrible business owner, I probably shouldn't stay there. She was rude, condescending, and completely dismissive. Julia may claim the business has "integrity" and a long history on the island, but it's clear the current management does not reflect those values. This place might have had a good reputation in the past, but it's absolutely not the same under her leadership. A hospitality business with no regard for basic courtesy or professionalism is one to steer clear of.

We hired PlanIt for partial planning and coordination for our September 26 wedding on Martha's…read moreVineyard. Despite a promising initial consultation, our experience left us feeling unsupported and deeply disappointed. After paying our deposit, we were assigned to Doriana, whom we had not previously met. My requests for regular planning calls were redirected to email. We understood the scope of our partial planning package, but had clearly communicated that we wanted engaged guidance throughout the process. My husband and I had to initiate our final planning meeting. I had provided a comprehensive document weeks beforehand outlining our wedding details, yet Doriana asked basic questions already covered in it. This gave us little confidence that she had thoroughly reviewed the information we supplied. The biggest disappointment came when a nor'easter forced significant changes during our wedding week. We did not expect anyone to control the weather. We did expect our planner to help us navigate it with practical solutions and clear leadership. Instead, we felt responsible for developing alternatives ourselves, while conversations focused heavily on obstacles and costs. Hearing "I guess we'll get through it" from our planner during an already stressful week was incredibly discouraging. Communication became so upsetting that my mother took over, followed by my aunt. The rehearsal also lacked clear direction, leaving members of our bridal party confused about ceremony cues and what they were supposed to do. Ultimately, we relied heavily on our family and the venue coordinators to lead the execution of the day. Our wedding was beautiful and meaningful, but that does not erase the stress or the lack of support we experienced. We invested thousands of dollars expecting professional preparation, communication, and coordination, and did not feel those expectations were met. Based on our experience, I would not recommend PlanIt.

The Devastating Disappointment of the Mother of the Bride…read more My daughter and her fiancé utilized the wedding planning services for their wedding events at the Winnetu Resort this past weekend. I would like to express my deep disappointment with the experience my daughter had with Doriana. As the mother of the bride, I found the overall experience disheartening and extremely disappointing. As a first-time bride, I expected my daughter to feel supported, encouraged, and empowered by her wedding planner. Unfortunately, her experience with Doriana was the complete opposite. My daughter ultimately reached a point where she could no longer manage the situation and asked me to step in on her behalf. We understood that the island would be experiencing a major storm during the wedding weekend. However, we expected Doriana to communicate openly, offer reasonable suggestions, and provide reassurance and positive support during what was already a stressful situation. Instead, my daughter was left feeling as though she was expected to figure out solutions on her own. Doriana expressed concern about whether my daughter's vendors would be able to make it to the island, yet she did not appear to reach out to those vendors directly to determine whether they still planned to travel despite the storm. Doriana also stated that she had not heard from my daughter's DJ. However, the DJ indicated that he had spoken with Doriana the day before and had confirmed that he was still attending the wedding. Doriana then suggested that my daughter use a DJ on the island whom my daughter had never met or spoken with. Given the circumstances, this added unnecessary stress to an already challenging situation. There were also concerns involving other vendors. The hairstylist my daughter hired informed me that Doriana had been rude and disengaged toward her. Another vendor contacted Doriana regarding overnight accommodations, and rather than providing a thorough explanation of how the arrangements could or should be handled, Doriana simply provided the vendor with a phone number for the resort. This lack of communication created additional confusion. As the mother of the bride, I ultimately felt that I had to take my attention away from supporting my daughter in order to troubleshoot issues that I believed should have been addressed by the wedding planner. At the same time, I was personally dealing with difficulties getting to the island because my own flight was impacted by the storm. Because of these circumstances, I contacted my aunt, who was attending the wedding, for assistance. She and one of my daughter's friends became heavily involved in managing and coordinating with Doriana so that the wedding events could proceed successfully. With their assistance, along with the support of several resort coordinators, the wedding events ultimately came together nicely. However, it is important to note that the successful outcome required significant intervention from family members, friends, and other resort coordinators. This was particularly disappointing because we had relied on the wedding planning service to provide guidance, communication, and support throughout the wedding experience. Based on my observations and communications during the wedding weekend, I was deeply concerned by Doriana's conduct and, at times, felt as though her actions were working against my daughter rather than supporting her. I found myself questioning whether other couples who have worked with her may have experienced similar difficulties. Ultimately, I am extremely unhappy and disappointed with the services provided by Doriana. What should have been a joyful and memorable experience for my daughter was unnecessarily stressful and disheartening. As a mother, it was particularly difficult to watch my daughter feel unsupported during such an important milestone in her life.

If you are looking for a lovely place to stay in Edgartown, where you can walk to shops,…read morerestaurants, spas, beaches and more, look no further. The Captain Morse House is situated in the ideal location. After a great night's sleep in one of the numerous cozy and quiet bedrooms, wake up and walk to the beach, or to Behind the Bookstore for a perfect cup of coffee. The house has so many convenient amenities, including bicycles and beach gear to use for your day's adventure. If you are looking to just chill in the beautifully landscaped yard and read, or enjoy a nice meal on the BBQ, this property is great for that too. The owner, Platt, and caretaker, Timothy, were both wonderful. The whole rental process is very well organized, not a detail is left out in house manual, and communication with a Platt and Tim is easy and prompt. My family and I had a lovely time staying in the West Wing and would definitely rent again and recommend to others. Maybe we'll try the East Wing next time in order to enjoy those great porches!

We found the Captain Morse house and I could not be more thankful! Our weekend was everything we'd thought it would be and more. This house extremely homey and comfortable! We never wanted to leave! There were great paths for our annual night walk (yes, we walk in winter ) we were in walking distance to some amazing coffee shops and diners, and the kids had a ball during our dance party with all the cousins, aunts, and uncles! Above all I have to say, the management was the best part! You can stay at a place that has everything you need and more, but if the people running it aren't accommodating or lack communication, you'd never want to go there again! This team went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and we were comfortable! They responded to a late night request as well which was very impressive! Safe to say.... We will be back next February! Thank you so much!!! The Crafts Family

I will give him credit too, because we encountered a lot of bad drivers and he kept his composure, when I probably wouldn't have. The tour is nice, but not something I can give 5 stars to. Nothing was necessarily wrong or bad about it, it just didn't quite pop with me. A lot of what is presented his classroom type stuff. Mileage may vary, but for me this was more a 'B' tour if we were using school grades.

They also tried to say I wasn't on their tour, so I am posting proof here that it was their tour I was on for sure, (assuming I can post a photo of their email when I get done with this part.) Here is the review: "Tour was just okay. We didn't stop at things people clearly wanted to stop at and there was a lot that no one cared about. The driver (my wife said his name was Richard) was anxious to get through the tour because there was so much to see in 3 hours... I'm like, okay then let's stop at the stuff people want to take pics of and blow off the rest of this crap. He also zoomed by and barely slowed down long enough to take a photo of something other than the back of the hand of the person sitting in front of you... the hand that was still there because they didn't have time to take a pic either. The driver also talked about Obama and Clinton the ENTIRE tour. I lost count at 8 stories. (This is not an exaggeration.) (Owner denied this could be true... ask anyone else who was on this tour... and I'm sure he uses these stories consistently.) I'm not a staunch anti-dem, but this was simply ridiculous. If Obama ever comes to a sudden stop this guy's head will end up mid-colon or so. Surgery might be necessary. Anyway, I would try a different one if I were you. Tries to pack in too much." (Owner also said they never wanted me to book with them again... lol, pretty sure I wasn't going to?)
