I have been a client of Estelle's since 2015 with some breaks during this time due to life changes. When I first began seeing Estelle, I saw her in person at her office which was comfortable. I no longer live in Colorado, so now Estelle and I meet virtually. I am on a very regular appointment schedule, however, she has always remained flexible when accommodating appointment changes. Estelle has and continues to work with me through a variety of issues (PTSD, queer relationships, grief with relationships ending, marriage, self-improvement, religious changes), and I never felt judged or treated differently. Instead, I've always felt extremely safe with Estelle no matter the topic. I easily can say that my life has been changed for the better by Estelle's presence. She celebrates with me when things are good, and provides light at the end of the tunnel when things are hard. She isn't clinical and dry. Estelle is warm, invested, and appropriately humorous. She truly wants to understand you, your quirks, and find a path towards healing at your pace. Her observations are given kindly and are explained well. I like that Estelle holds me accountable when I need to be held accountable. I plan to stay with Estelle for many years to come! She is my mentor for bettering myself, and a beacon of hope when things are heavy.

JT is incredibly kind and well-intentioned, but the therapy felt one-dimensional. Sessions largely focused on validating feelings without providing structure, tools, challenge, or actionable guidance - all of which I repeatedly asked for. Given that this therapy was priced at the higher end of what we've seen, we expected a much deeper level of engagement and clinical depth. I consistently expressed that I did not feel understood, and that concern never felt meaningfully explored. The turning point came when JT continued asking the same questions and implied that I wasn't going deep enough. When I asked him to take a different approach and ask more thoughtful probing questions, he responded by asking me what I thought he should ask instead. That felt backwards. If he is the trained professional, I don't believe it should be my responsibility to determine how we get deeper in session. He also seemed dismissive of modalities like the Gottman Method and Nonviolent Communication, as well as the self-work I was doing independently. Despite repeatedly asking for homework or guidance between sessions, none was provided. We were looking for stronger direction and more skill-based, structured work, which is why we chose to move on. We're very happy with our new therapist, who also practices EFT but brings a broader, more versatile approach rather than relying on a singular method.

As cliché as it sounds, I can honestly say that working with Lindsay changed my life. Who am I…read morekidding? With the tools and insight she provided over our 18 months working together, she's continuing to change my life. I sought out counseling services when life felt unbearably bleak, difficult, and dark. I came in, grasping for control and hoping for a quick fix, which in hindsight is utterly laughable. I think if I knew how much baggage I needed to unpack and how much "inside" work it would take, I never would have begun the process, but with Lindsay's gentle and steadfast guidance, I was slowly but surely able to pull myself out of the weeds. With her help (and a lot of healthy work), I've found my voice and have begun to thrive in a visceral, sustainable and powerful manner- what a gift she has given me! Lindsay is thorough, receptive, non-judgmental, open to talking about therapy within therapy (so meta, I know), insightful, funny, wise, kind, gentle yet straightforward, and very easy to talk to. She questioned and helped me dig when I needed to be pushed and gave me space when she recognized that I needed to come to my own conclusions. The way she approaches counseling is thoughtful and intentional, but never calculated, which is invaluable. Overall, all I can say is this: Lindsay led me through a very challenging period of my life and for that I will forever be grateful. I've been through my fair share of counseling in the past with poor results- I'm so thankful for this positive experience to fall back on as needed. If you're feeling lost, trapped, stuck, like you're drowning...do yourself (and your loved ones!) a solid: go see Lindsay, commit to doing the work, and stick with it, even when it get's hard. People are messy, life is hard, but she's one of the great ones out there.

But I completely lucked out in finding Dr. Kennedy in this crazy city and I'm really grateful. Though this is my first experience with any kind of therapist, I can tell that he's seriously talented at what he does. I actually look forward to my appointments and feel better leaving them. I understand he specializes in LGBT issues, but that's not what I went to him for. I saw him for family-related therapy, but I suppose it just goes to show how versatile he is. After a month of what I would consider intense therapy at a fast-pace (my choice), I felt like a completely different person, with a better understanding of a situation that had me feeling completely confused and overwhelmed. He's sensitive, understanding and also was encouraging, which surprised me. I didn't know what to expect going to a therapist... maybe criticism, a wake-up call, who knows... but I actually felt like he had a vested interest in my well being and was cheering me on. He praised me on how hard I was working to get resolutions and confront fears and situations that were very difficult for me. But he only gave praise when it was due - which makes it feel more genuine. His office is in a building that reminds me of an old school, and it's centrally located and easy to access from the N or R trains. The waiting area is just two chairs outside of Dr. Kennedy's office and another Doctor's office, but the doors are surprisingly sound-proof. I was afraid that people sitting in the waiting room would be able to hear my loud speaking voice, but I realized while sitting there myself, I couldn't hear a thing. It's a decent sized-room with a sofa, in a professional setting and he always has a full box of tissues on the side table. He also has a good online service for you to communicate with him, book/see/cancel appointments and even text message alerts for upcoming appointments, which I appreciate as a busy individual. I'm not completely done with my treatment, but I know that with Dr. Kennedy as my Doctor, I'll be fine. In such a short amount of time, he's helped me tremendously and overall seems like such a genuine person. The doctor/patient relationship quickly feels as comfortable as a friendship. He remembers all of my family/friends' names that I mention during treatment and uses them himself, which makes it feel so much more personal. I definitely recommend Dr. Kennedy. You can't go wrong with him and if you're looking for someone who cares and someone you can really open up to and share everything with, he's the doctor for you.

I had to stop seeing him because my insurance changed (he does take some insurance), but I cannot recommend him enough for both men and women and hope to be able to .

I previously was diagnosed with ADHD in my late teens and have had ongoing attention and focusing issues. With my workload increasing I knew I needed to find a doctor help me regain my balance. I really liked Dr. Bercot's style and approach, helping me understand the dopamine level changes that occur in individuals with ADD and how the proper self-care and medication can help bring this back to natural levels. He also highlighted many of the positive aspects of ADD, such as being empathetic, intuitive, creative, abstract problem solvers, innovative (and the list goes on). When I called to clarify, he became defensive and abruptly told me he no longer wanted to work with me--leaving me without support mid-treatment. He also brought up a previous prescription from another provider in a way that felt shaming and judgmental, which was especially upsetting given the stigma already surrounding these medications. When I became visibly upset and was crying on the phone, he showed no empathy or concern. Mental health patients deserve providers who can communicate clearly, offer compassion, and act with professionalism--especially in moments of vulnerability. I truly hope he can reflect on this experience, learn from it, and treat future patients with the respect and care they deserve.
