I found Dr. Bercot here on Yelp and am so happy that I decided to schedule a meeting with him. I previously was diagnosed with ADHD in my late teens and have had ongoing attention and focusing issues. With my workload increasing I knew I needed to find a doctor help me regain my balance. I really liked Dr. Bercot's style and approach, helping me understand the dopamine level changes that occur in individuals with ADD and how the proper self-care and medication can help bring this back to natural levels. He also highlighted many of the positive aspects of ADD, such as being empathetic, intuitive, creative, abstract problem solvers, innovative (and the list goes on). If you're in need of a Phychiatrist to help you find the best version of yourself, I strongly encourage you to choose Denver Mind and Wellness.

I had a deeply disappointing and distressing experience with this psychiatrist. After we discussed…read moremy desire to gradually taper off an anti-anxiety medication due to withdrawal symptoms, he sent in a prescription for half the usual dose without warning or explanation. When I called to clarify, he became defensive and abruptly told me he no longer wanted to work with me--leaving me without support mid-treatment. He also brought up a previous prescription from another provider in a way that felt shaming and judgmental, which was especially upsetting given the stigma already surrounding these medications. When I became visibly upset and was crying on the phone, he showed no empathy or concern. Mental health patients deserve providers who can communicate clearly, offer compassion, and act with professionalism--especially in moments of vulnerability. I truly hope he can reflect on this experience, learn from it, and treat future patients with the respect and care they deserve.

We worked with JT (Jonathan Thrall) for a few months and ultimately decided to find another…read moretherapist at a different practice. JT is incredibly kind and well-intentioned, but the therapy felt one-dimensional. Sessions largely focused on validating feelings without providing structure, tools, challenge, or actionable guidance - all of which I repeatedly asked for. Given that this therapy was priced at the higher end of what we've seen, we expected a much deeper level of engagement and clinical depth. I consistently expressed that I did not feel understood, and that concern never felt meaningfully explored. The turning point came when JT continued asking the same questions and implied that I wasn't going deep enough. When I asked him to take a different approach and ask more thoughtful probing questions, he responded by asking me what I thought he should ask instead. That felt backwards. If he is the trained professional, I don't believe it should be my responsibility to determine how we get deeper in session. He also seemed dismissive of modalities like the Gottman Method and Nonviolent Communication, as well as the self-work I was doing independently. Despite repeatedly asking for homework or guidance between sessions, none was provided. We were looking for stronger direction and more skill-based, structured work, which is why we chose to move on. We're very happy with our new therapist, who also practices EFT but brings a broader, more versatile approach rather than relying on a singular method.

As a therapist, he is all these qualities and more as he truly has a genuine connection, dedication and drive to support his clients in their healing journey. Whoever Ryan has as clients are truly lucky; between his knowledge base, experience and overall supportive presence, he is a therapist I highly highly recommend.
