I went and saw Dr. Schultz today for the first time since she made the switch to Northwestern. Here are a few reasons I think Dr. Schultz is fabulous: * I ran into a friend and mutual patient of Dr. Schultz. She had called first thing because of a painful ear ache and Dr. Schultz squeezed her in. Many of the doctors I've seen in the past would just tell you they were booked and send you off to immediate care. * There was some confusion as to whether her old office sent over my records as requested. I've always assumed that doctors cram before seeing a patient, reminding themselves what their health issues are and personal tidbits. Not Dr. Schultz, she's the real deal, she was fuzzy on a few minor things, but remembered the important stuff! * Northwestern has this system called Relay Health, she explained that I can get info electronically, communicate with the office, and schedule appointments through it. She also went through the security features of the site and told me what steps I could skip to make getting set up quicker. All of that combined with how nice and friendly she is makes Dr. Schultz one fabulous doc. And like others have said the people she's referred me to have always been top notch! read more

It's a solid 4 because Dr Schultz is always nice and personable and answers all of my questions. The one minus star is due to (1) super super slow check in at front desk, and (2) they have the most retarded queuing/waiting system. When I went there last week, they checked me and another girl in at the same time, let us into the office at the same time, and our waiting rooms were next to each other. Apparently we both had an 8am appointment with Dr. Schultz, and for some reason she decided to see the other girl first. So it was me, by myself, waiting in the room next door, for about 25min. And I could clearly hear the girl talking with the doctor next door. I mean we all know people can't appear in two places at the same time, so why would you make two appointments at the same time available to patients? It's an inefficient use of my time and it's an inefficient use of the resources at the office. read more

First, let me say. If you have a medical condition and you are non-compliant with medical advice or follow through. This doctor is NOT for you. She has a low tolerance for people that she tries to help but won't follow through on their end. If you are overweight and she suggests exercise and diet and you come back in 6 months later and haven't done anything, this isn't going to work. Plus, drug seekers (those who look for drugs they don't need) best avoid also. If you care about yourself and want to work as a TEAM with your doctor this IS the doctor for you. I have had great success with Anne in controlling my high cholesterol and severe back pains. I've suffered from intermittent debilitating back pains for most of my life (I have slight curvature of the spine AKA scoliosis). Through TEMPORARY use of drugs and exercises on my part we have found a solution that no one else could. I am VERY happy with this doctor. However, I know that her style is not right for everyone. I think all the reviews good and bad are within this framework. Her style isn't for everyone. For people like me who are willing to put in the effort and realize drugs don't cure everything, she is great. Edit 3/30/14: 10 years back my back pain was so bad I wore a brace for 6 months. I've also been forced to use a cane for a short period about three years ago. Since working with the doctor I have been relatively pain free. Two weeks ago I took a class in Taiko Drumming. It's a big Japanese drum where you stand up and bang on it. Very Very hard on the back. What hurt after my class? My shoulders. No back problems. I think I've found the best internist. Dr. Shultz is awesome because she listens....plain and simple. She doesn't make you feel rushed and she asks a lot of questions. This makes me feel more at ease and makes me feel that I am in good hands. I work with doctors so I know how some can be. I really appreciated her bedside manner. Statistically speaking, there are always outliers: those who defy the bellcurve or the standard opinion of, well, everything from peanut butter to neurosurgeons. Because they are outliers, their opinion can safely be disregarded without trashing their particular experience. This may not be true of affairs of state, where an outlier might be the canary in the coal mine, but it is certainly true of products and services. So much for one-star reviews of Anne Schultz. I have been nothing but thrilled with Dr. Schultz. She's concerned, she listens -- and not with one foot out the door -- and she provides all sorts of extra advice. I abandoned the expensive anti-aging hormone creams I'd been using and, on her advice, have been using a simpler, safer, and much less expensive moisturizing treatment. But that's secondary to her diagnostic ability overall and her skill at seeing beyond the surface. You have a persistent cough? One patient turned out to have lung cancer, and Dr. Schultz caught it. You'd like to cut back on your alcohol consumption but are having trouble doing so? Dr. Schultz will be your best ally, and gently encourage you to keep trying. When my world-famous ob/gyn stopped taking Medicare patients (!), I decided it was time to change internists, and two different friends recommended Dr. Schultz. Did I say recommended? They raved about how good she was. And now I'm very happy to say they were right. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Schultz's predecessor at NMPG--Dr. Palmer, who was a fantastic physician. However, after one visit to Dr. Schultz's office, I will not be returning. I thought Dr. Schultz was arrogant, hostile and rude. While I began to explain my reason for the appointment, she interrupted and then harshly berated me for being overweight (which was unrelated to why I was there--trust me), to the point that I was in tears--then she abruptly ended the appointment to go to her next patient. Avoid at all costs. This woman scares me. She will pretend to listen to you for about 2 minutes but in her head, she already has an agenda. Twice she has flip flopped her opinions. Once on diet and once on medication. As in, prescribed remedies and then later on told me that the remedy was all wrong, and even harmful to my body. She is cold and extremely fake. I see that she has a lot of positive reviews on here and that is shocking to me. I've seen her multiple times and she's always finding new ways to show me that I need to find a new doctor. The office is small, cramped and crowded. I always have a fairly long wait, both in the waiting room and in the exam room. The staff is meh, with the exception of the extremely kind nurses. Northwestern in general is a money sucking, soulless pit in my experience. And Dr Schultz fits in great there. I wouldn't suggest seeing her unless you want a pompous, cold hearted, quickie exam and a prescription that she will later deem unfit. I, for one, will never be back to see her. Edit - 07/2014 I've read what Tenzo has said and I would just like to clarify that both of the remedies Dr Schultz referred to me were followed exactly. I followed the diet and then the medication she prescribed exactly. When I went back to see her for follow ups, she literally asked me "Why on earth are you eating x, y and z" ....well because you told me to. And then the next time "why are you taking this medication? It's dangerous." .....well because you prescribed it to me. Tenzo acts like people are negligent and stupid, not following doctor's advice. I DID follow her advice, and then she backtracked TWICE and told me to do the exact opposite. What kind of a doctor does that? This review is of my experience at Dr. Schultz's office--which, unfortunately, has relatively little to do with Dr. Schultz's knowledge and/or experience. I went in to get a prescription filled. Dr. Schultz was strongly recommended by the person I spoke to on the phone. Dr. Schultz wrote the prescription, and, as she was doing so, I attempted to ask her some questions. Dr. Schultz--clearly under incredibly time constraints--did not answer my questions, which were not unreasonable and could have been answered in about 3 to 5 minutes. She actually ushered me out of the room as I attempted to ask these questions. I've never had a doctor cut me off like that. She wasn't rude, but she clearly was in a rush. I am sensitive to everyone's time constraints, but this was unbelievable. I complained to Northwestern, which said that Dr. Schultz was allotted about 10 minutes for the meeting. I was really appalled. I haven't returned to Northwestern. I don't believe I even got 10 minutes with the doctor. Afterwards, I noticed that the bill was completely wrong--her office charged me for a service that I never received. Dr. Schultz may, in fact, be a very good doctor. Unfortunately, I suspect that many people could never--absent a very serious medical problem--spend enough time with her to accurately evaluate her skill, doctor-patient rapport, and medical knowledge. read more

The office staff is short with patients and unprofessional. Being a nurse myself, this is extremely disappointing. The tech who took my blood pressure got annoyed when I asked what it was. The office staff told me they couldn't tell me the cost of a cholesterol test and that I'd know once I got my bill. That is just ridiculous. If they dont know, they could at least tell me who I could get that information from. Dr. Schultz is just ok. She's nice and has good bedside manner, but visits feel rushed. read more

Dr Schultz is great. I've gone to her for just about everything and she has always been helpful and sympathetic to my issues. She listens to me and gives me great suggestions. I never have a problem getting an appointment or getting a phone call back. I do find that the waiting time is a little longer than I would like but I can deal with it. read more

Definitely updating my review...ok, I've always used their online relay health system, but they have taken it up a notch. Talk about customer service. I basically had a chat with them this morning to figure out my appointment time, lots of back and forth. I signed up on yelp here just to put in my 2 cents about Dr. Schultz and the NMPG, because I am surprised at the poor reviews. She was recommended by my employer and I also strongly recommend her here. I was very nervous. haven't had the best experiences with doctors/nurses in the past as a child. I have also been uninsured and without a primary care physician for 6 years through college. yep. Any physicians/DO's/nurses I had seen over said 6 years ( immediate care centers, clinics, gyne back home) have been mediocre at best. NOT the case with Dr. Schultz/ office staff. NEW PATIENT SIGN UP/OFFICE: waiting room was not too busy, weekday morning during flu season. ~8-10 people. Desk staff was professional, business conversational, AND accommodating to a new patient with forms. There was a spelling error in my name and they were prompt to fix it upon mention and polite about it. I was called to an exam room at my exact appointment time. NURSING STAFF: The Nurse introduced herself, did read aloud my BP/Temp/Stats, very sweet, and we even had a lovely conversation about places to shop in my neighborhood since she was familiar with the area. those little things are WONDERFUL when you're not feeling 100%! DR SCHULTZ: waiting time ~8 min. the doctor herself was very polite and easy to talk to! She was very "real" with me, a feeling I very rarely get from Dr's visit. There was ample time taken to explain things in a way non med students can understand. She gave me clear reasons for my symptoms, and what I can do to better what has been a lingering illness, as well as what she would recommend if even THOSE steps didn't work. The appointment time seemed just right for what I had come in for, and she was one of the most relatable and "human" doctors I have seen in some time. 5 stars, and a smile for making me feel at ease with a PCP after so many years. read more

Dr. Schultz is the best doctor I have ever been to. She truly cares about her patients. She takes the time to ask questions and listens carefully. I started going to her when I moved to Chicago 3 years ago and never want to go anywhere else. I've never felt rushed in her office and she makes you feel so comfortable, regardless of the issues you may be going through. In terms of the office, I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes, even on a really busy day in the middle of the afternoon. If I could give a million stars, I would. I scheduled an appointment last week (5/26/16) to see Dr. Anne Furey Schultz. When I showed up, they told me I cancelled it. I NEVER cancelled my appointment. It was a 7:45am appointment which I would have never shown for if I cancelled it. I meannn, why would anyone show up for a 7:45AM appointment that they cancelled? That makes no sense. When I explained to the receptionist that I didn't cancel and there must be a mistake, they checked with the Dr. to see if she would take me anyways and SHE WOULDN'T. The office refused to make an exception due to their mistake. I told them I was waiting for this appointment for weeks because I wasn't feeling well and needed to be seen. They didn't care- no exceptions- nothing. They recommended I go to urgent care. UM EXCUSE ME? I made an appointment to see MY doctor in advanced, patiently waited weeks for my appointment and YOUR SYSTEM for some reason cancelled it for NO REASON without even notifying me first. They placed the blame on me and told me I was trying to beat the system and that I had to make another appointment. Beat the system? Because I wanted to wake up for a 7:45am appointment, on an empty stomach, and pay for a taxi to take me- yeah that sounds a like a lot of fun. I will never see Dr. Schultz or anyone at her practice again. Not only does she not have a care in the world for her patients but neither does her entire practice or office staff. I was appalled and embarrassed. Do not see this doctor. Period! read more

I have been a patient of Dr Schultz for 3 years now. I go in 1-2X a year. She is generally OK, however my recent visit was the icing on the cake. I waited 1 hr to be seen, she rushed through the visit. Did not fully answer any of my questions. Looked at me as if I should know the answer when I probed for more understanding. Then I had to wait for some instant test results, her assistant tested for the wrong thing as she was given incorrect directions on what needed to be done. To top it off, the referral she promised me for a specialist was never given! I am in the market for a new doctor if anyone knows of great doctors out there. read more

Unfortunately my experience with Dr. Schultz as a doctor on call was extremely dissappointing. I had been prescribed a prescription by my doctor to which I was expereincing uncomfortable side effects. When I placed a call to my physician the call was returned by Dr. Schultz who was the doctor on call for the weekend. I began explaning to her why I had called and on four different occasions she informed me she was having breakfast with her family. She was blantantly rude and provided advise on information that was completely incorrect - when I would correct the misinformed information she would state I was interrupting her. She even questioned whether or not I had even seen a doctor and stated she could prescribe a different medication that would not be the best for my situation. I asked her how could she prescribe me anything when she hadn't even looked at my record to see if I was allergic to any specific medications? When I tried to again explain that I was experiencing symptoms that in the prescription's description prompted me to contact my physician - she repled pharmacy's have to put that information on their products, but it didn't mean anything. After the 5th time of her telling me that I was interrupting her breakfast with her family - I apologized and hung up. I have never met Dr. Schultz and may I never have to - but if you've had a good experience with her - I guess you never had to phone her on the weekend when she was on call having breakfast with her family. Personally, I think she was very unprofessional and extremely rude. read more

I noticed here that one Yelper was berated for being overweight- let me just say that if you're thin, you get interrogated about that, too (She actually asked me if I have "body dysmorphia"- when I spoke to another physician about this, they were horrified). This doc has an apparent fixation on females between the ages of 20-50 or so, and her behavior during my visit was completely inappropriate. It started out oddly and went south from there. She came up with several scenarios of things that COULD be wrong with me, based on absolutely no evidence, facts, or information whatsoever and never asked me anything- just TOLD me. She made these things up and later wrote and asked if she had "upset" me. I have never been to a doctor like this in my entire life and it's too bad, because she came highly recommended (by people who are either not women or not in her targeted age bracket). The communication style is, I think, meant to be intimidating but I don't love being on the defensive for nothing. Another sore spot (literally): they took my blood in what seemed like a kitchen, with lots of employees and vendors just standing around watching. The tech who took my blood was nice enough but she was yapping away with a colleague and wound up really bruising up my arm. The bruise lasted for a week! Didn't really seem like a sterile environment to me, either. Oh, and I had to wait more than 30 minutes to see the doctor. Wait till you see the bill for a physical, by the way. And the aforementioned tests: $164 for a "vitamin D" test? $20 to get blood taken in an exposed kitchen? I would really think twice before going here. It's really, really not worth it if you need a physical. For shots or minor ailments, she seems ok (which is why I gave two stars and not just the one she deserves for my physical). read more

I also found Dr. Schultz thanks to Yelp and had my first appointment with her. I can't recommend Dr. Schultz enough. She was very thorough in her questions about my past medical history and took the time to explain the latest findings on medical advances and how they would apply to me. She made me feel like she had all the time in the world and is so "approachable". I was most impressed with her combined attributes of intelligence and kindness. read more

My daughter had a very disappointed experience with a appointment this morning scheduled at 7:45am. Somehow her appt was canceled via a glitch with the call center. My daughter also was ill and was all prepared with fasting in order to to have her blood work up done. The mix up created my daughter to have anxiety. The office wouldn't make an exception with their error and the Dr refused to squeeze my daughter in at another time today. They offered her to see a different Dr then she's ever seen before and thought this would be acceptable which it wasn't. Why do Doctors get over looked in situations like this. Why are they held to a higher level and not held accountable for errors?????Why aren't they concerned about their patients well being especially when they are ill and making exceptions to their patients. It's much like a business where's customer service or doesn't it exist in the medical field????? These Doctors go to medical school for years and don't they learn management techniques and customer service and patient relationships???? Not this practice!!!! Dr. Schultz really does have a great bedside manner and makes sure you understand what is going on with your body. She is kind and very thorough. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because her office is always crazy busy and it's really hard to get or move an appointment on short notice. If I could give zero stars I would. She was the worst doctor I have ever had (and I am a physician). I scheduled a new patient visit and within a few minutes after walking into the room she stated that she only had time to discuss one issue. I had alreadfasted for 8 hours (it was the afternoon...was told to come fasted by the front staff who booked my appointment) and was half naked in the gown. She stated that I would have to schedule another appointment to discuss any other issues. I have to preface this by stating that I am a young, healthy female with minimal medical problems which do not require any actual workup by her. I can only imagine what would happen if I were actually sick or not knowledgeable about medical issues to ask the right medical questions to direct her to actually be a good diagnostician. She stated that I was only scheduled for a "15 minutes appointment" as a new paitent and that even though that was a mistake (apparently new patients only get "30 minutes" I would still have to come multiple times to disucss my complete new patient history. This was all while she made minimal eye contact typing on a computer. Again, I have a history of migraines and a vitamin B12 deficiency and that is it. Not complicated. She also stated that low B12 levels should not "really cause fatigue" which ofcourse is very frustrating when my levles were so low that I required weekly B12 shots and I feel substantially better after (am waiting for the repeat level). It is terrible bed side manner for a physician to essentially tell you your symptoms are not valid and I certainly understand now why many patients feel not heard by their physician. She is definitely one of those physicians. I will never be going back to her or that practice. read more

I too had been going to Dr. Schultz for about 2 years. During these 2 years I was the main care giver for my terminally ill father who recently passed away about a month ago. I have had thyroid issues since being a teenager & as I am now in mid 30's try to keep vigilant with my health as hubby & I lost a baby last summer......well.......I have been feeling VERY sluggish and putting weight on for no apparent reason so made appt with Dr. S to get thyroid blood work done to make sure I was ok......when I arrived she all but attacked me and said I was having mental/emotional problems & that I was "making up" many of my symptoms, etc because my father just died.....threatened that if I did not go to therapist she would no longer be my doctor. LOL I TRULY believe ALL of this was because she had just found out I was on financial aid through Northwestern and even said to me that "she doesn't get paid" for any tests she runs on me!! I think she is VERY kind when you pull out insurance card BUT not so nice when you are on the hospitals financial aid.....appalling. I WILL NEVER go back to her again. read more
