I assumed it was because they were just opening and this was a sales pitch. He went to get me some chicken shwwarma but I declined, citing my vegetarianism. So he gave me a sample of something that I realize now I can't remember but it was good. Real good. So he whipped me up a plate. A big plate. A plate that far outstripped my appetite but it all looked very good. Throw in a drink and the bill came to about $12. Which, considering I'd been thinking a pizza slice was going to be my lunch, was more than I wanted to spend. But, I figured, I should be more adventurous. And the food was good. Very good. So good I kept eating long after the point of being full and I still had tons of food left. So, for food court fare, it's a bit more expensive than I might like to pay. But it's also better than most food court fare in terms of taste and health. You'll have to weight the pros and cons for yourself.

They keep a small selection of baked goods and usually has at least something vegan. The coolest fact is that they are a waste free store and proudly let you know by the plastic bags and coffee cups saved by shopping there. They also sell a good selection of eco-friendly items, such as, feminine hygiene products, bamboo toothbrushes, soaps and much more. The bulk foods wall has large glass jars with everything from beans to Good Parma vegan cheese to pretzels and laundry soap. The store is clean and cozy and there's plants everywhere which I love.

I wanted to walk out but desperately needed a caffeine fix! ok I'll take the large one with cream. Rolls her eyes and says" we don't do cream here, dairy alternatives only." I took the coffee with coconut milk and a samosa. She took the tongs and handed me the samosa. A plate? Again .... No its a to go item only, do you have your own bag? We are waste free don't you know? " Certainly you must have a brown bag.... She takes the Samosa and bag (not in) with tongs and hands it to me. Worst experience I've had in a long time. Sure, my boyfriend often opts for the poutine (which is stellar) and I like their subs, but the donairs are the main attraction. Rush Hour is run by a family and you can tell the dedication as soon as you enter the store. Family pictures are posted over the cash register and there's usually two or three members of the family floating around the kitchen. There's a counter installed along the front wall of the store, but I've never seen anyone eating there. There are two drawbacks to Rush Hour. One is that their pizza really isn't all that great. I've had much better pizzas, to be honest. The second is there is a criminal lack of parking spaces - most often, you have to park on the side of Windsor Street and hope that someone doesn't clip you coming through the intersection. A particular bonus is that Rush Hour has debit on delivery items - definitely a plus for people like me who rarely carry cash.
