I am crazy for a good calzone. These aren't anything to get worked up about. The fillings are fair (though I'd love to see green olives on the menu). The crust was very dense--too dense. Maybe not cooked well enough. All the other calzones I've ever had had a nicely browned, semi-crispy top. This one was almost the consistency of Wonder Bread. Top this with a super bland marinara sauce, and you've got a mouth full of disappointment. The cheese sticks were pretty tasty. If anything else about our order had been up to snuff, we would have thought of ordering these again. The apple pie sticks are a waste of your life. Just burn some cheap, whole-wheat toast and pour some canned apple pie filling on it. read more

My boyfriend ordered a calzone tonight and added a chocolate chip cookie on the side for $1.75. He started to feel really sick an hour after he ate it, and he said "I think the cookie had peanuts." He's really allergic to them, but nowhere on the website does it say that the chocolate chip cookie contains nuts. I called the restaurant and asked if they use peanut oil to make the cookie and they straight up told me that they use reese's peanut butter cups in the cookie. I think it's horrible customer service to not include a disclaimer about this kind of thing, especially considering how common it is to be allergic to nuts. I noticed that they also have a peanut butter cookie on their menu, but the add-on cookie for the calzone he ordered clearly said "chocolate chip." I'm not sure if they accidentally put the wrong cookie in the bag, but either way I will never order from here again. read more

I have had dp dough more than a hundred times during my freshman year. However, since then every single experience has been terrible. I've given dp dough multiple chances, but sadly the quality of their food has plummeted. My roommate and I would order together and then have stomachaches the next day. This happened literally every single time. What could they have been doing to the food? One time, the driver didnt know how to get to isr... after giving him directions and waiting 2 hours, he finally found the place. And instead of walking to the door to give me the food, he asked me to walk over to his car. I almost lost my temper that time. But wasn't until I saw what was inside. I saw an exploded calzone with the sauce all over the place. Needless to say, I threw it out and just got late night instead. I swore that i would never order from dp dough ever again. read more

The food is fine. The delivery driver was not. I decided to pay with credit and tip with cash. When paying I rounded up to the nearest dollar. When the driver arrived (more than an hour later), before I could even take out my wallet he verbally berated me, saying "a 3 cent tip is worse than no tip at all." He stormed off. I used to order from here about once a week. One day they told me they don't deliver where I live, and were really busy and didn't know what to tell me. I didn't plan on calling back until they put coupons on my door advertising delivering there. When I called and ordered they told me it would take longer to deliver since I wasn't in their delivery area. How does that make sense? It is good, just hope you are in the delivery area, or its a good time for them to bring you what you order. Heaven forbid a delivery place delivers when they are busy. read more

Normally, the delivery drivers call when they're out front (usually it's a few minutes earlier than the estimated time). I go downstairs a little before the estimated delivery time to wait by the door so that when they call, I'm right there. D. P. Dough's delivery driver called me a few minutes before he was there, so I went downstairs to await the second call that he was out front. Instead, no call came and he AGGRESSIVELY rang the doorbell at 12:15am. I live in a sorority house so he almost definitely woke people up with his RUDE and OBNOXIOUS behavior. Another girl in my house opened the door and he YELLED asking her if she was me. Hearing my name, I walked over to the door where he began SHOUTING at me, saying "WHERE WERE YOU? I CALLED YOU SO MANY TIMES!!" and shoved the food into my hands. I looked at my phone and it had no missed calls and I told him that. So this COMPLETELY UNCIVIL man shouted again at me "I CALLED YOU A FEW MINUTES AGO TELLING YOU I WAS GOING TO BE HERE!!!!" AND STORMED AWAY. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I will no longer be ordering from DP Dough. They hire TACTLESS, ANGRY people who do NOT have COMMON DECENCY. Additionally, the calzone is so disappointing. It's completely tasteless. Don't expect any normal calzone spices (no oregano, no flavoring whatsoever) because they cheap out and literally put only meat and cheese inside bread and call it a calzone. DP is good cheap fast food. We order from my work all the time and the guys always get there before you expect them. Our large orders are always correct and the people are friendly. What more can you ask for. I recently put in a delivery order for my home, they delivered it without any problem even though I am out of their delivery range. I was impressed and happy. read more

I used to love this place. Their calzones are delicious and I never had a problem with their staff - all super helpful and friendly. I had a bad calzone a few months ago, but chalked it up it maybe just being a stomach virus or something. I decided to give them another shot. I ordered a calzone and a side salad. I took a grand total of maybe 3 bites before I realized there was a HUGE moth/other kind of dead bug in my salad. Needless to say, I threw it out and am totally grossed out. I want to change the order so I call in and the location says they are closed, even though it states on every website including their own that they will be open until 2am. I generally like the food I order from here. My calzone this time was a little more bread than I'd like, but by the time I got to the good part I was happy. My issue is that I don't remember the last time this place didn't mess up some part of my order. This time I wanted italian crust, got regular, making it bland. Last time I didn't get any marinara, again making it bland. The time before that I got the wrong meat. The time before that my friends didn't get their salads delivered in our group order. It goes on. I don't need a perfect meal every time, but always having some part of my order messed up by them sours my experience. We ordered meals for six at my office today and although the calzones were very good your delivery service is TERRIBLE. Out of six orders only two were delivered, the driver was rude and had a "i don't care (trying to keep it clean) attitude. We had to wait for the other 4 orders to be delivered. I personally will probably never eat at D.P.Doughs again. The Low rating is for the delivery service and their attitude - the gentleman on the phone was very nice and had the rest of our food out quickly. read more

The customer service that I received here was horrible. They sent my order of four calzones in four separate deliveries over the course of 20 minutes and I had to pay the delivery fee each time. The calzones were all cold and two of them were not what I had ordered. I called the store to tell them about the errors and they did not make any effort to correct the situation. I got bounced around from employee to employee on the phone because no one wanted to take responsibility for the situation. The custom service was appalling and the quality of food was poor. I work at a Champaign apartment complex that is gated. We screen visitors before allowing entry. Food deliveries are let in as soon as we determine who they are. DP dough drivers are by far the most rude and impatient drivers we see. They are also usually very disheveled and dirty looking. One driver decided to fly in through our exit lane which is very dangerous. He ignored my waving hands and shouts to stop. He most likely just didn't feel like stopping and answering a simple question. Once I confronted him to warn him to not do that again he displayed a very flippant attitude which is the opposite reaction we usually receive upon notifying people they have trespassed. Most people apologize and we are satisfied they won't do it again. I decided to call his manager to complain. The person that answered at the store was equally flippant and made no attempt to rectify the matter. I overheard him tell someone i was "pissing him off". He stated the driver was actually the manager on duty. This "manager" was wearing very dingy clothes and his long stringy hair looked like it hadn't been washed for a month. I sure hope he doesn't touch food. My personal experience equals 2 purchases and they were both less than satisfactory also. Decent food but horribly unprofessional service. read more

i'm always looking for places with warm, filling vegetarian meal options (read as: not just salads), and DP Dough is one of the best in champaign. the zones are good and easy order meatless. i'll admit when i tried the buffer fries and they were kinda gross. but the price is decent, the food is good, and the delivery was timely, so 4 stars! would go again. read more
