A verbal summary after the process, and an extensive document at the end that included safety or regulatory related items that should be addressed, a list of other deficiencies and recommendations, as well as a list of notes and observations. The 39 page document included not only valuation and the aforementioned items to address, but a chart with seacock locations, purpose, and status, images of issues, and some recommendations on correcting some issues (for instance our boat uses Spartan seacocks, and Merrick provided a link to information on servicing Spartan seacocks.) While we will likely find and need to address issues as we begin our journey with this boat, I believe most issues will not be a total blindside, thanks to the comprehensive survey provided. I recommend Merrick marine for their thoroughness and their professionalism.

I think people only leave bad reviews when they don't get what they exactly want! Anyway- the workers were so welcoming! The process was very easy from buying the tickets to the end! We got there just in time (not the 45 min ahead like it said) and it was perfect! (Maybe before we were the first boat of the day?) Once in the charter it didn't take long for us to leave. While they are taking us out towards where the whales are... They told us a bunch of stories a bunch of scientific facts and a bunch of tips and tricks! We also saw a bunch of sea life just heading out to the whale areas! (Seals, starfish, birds, fish, jellyfish , etc) The ride was smooth and beautiful- DEFINITELY COLD (even if it's 90F in Seattle)! But the views are beautiful- both of the sea and Seattle!! It didn't take very long to get to the areas but once we did everyone had the same goal - SPOT THE WHALES!!! It didn't take us too long because we got lucky! There was a lot of activity that day! We ended up seeing 6 different orcas and 1 grey whale!! It's a 4 hour tour but most of that time is spent getting to and from the destination where the whales are, which is damn near Canada. When you get to where the whales are the boat slows down and you can only see them from a distance. There's only like 1 or 2 whales and they only pop up for a quick second to breathe and when they go back in the water they don't pop up for another 15mins. The boat stays there for maybe 3 rounds of this. Then it's back to your seats and back to the pier. Dress warm and eat before you go or pack snacks! The food offered in the boat is overpriced! Definitely a tourist trap!

The mission of the Port of Edmonds includes waterfront public access, which I greatly appreciate. It also has a mission of environmental stewardship. I appreciate the port because of these public goals that affect those who do use the port in the fullest sense. While taking walks between Brackett's Landing and Marina Beach Park, hug along the water to find the walking path behind Arnie's, Anthony's that cut through the port. The fishing pier is charming. I always stop to see the boats being lifted out of the water. They have two methods. One uses two bands that looks like it can carry a whale. One is a lift. A fork lift with two very long prongs gingerly drive the boat to its dry dock spot. It is fun to watch every time. From the Marina Beach Park side, find the sign that reads Port of Edmonds Promenade for the entrance.

A group of six purchased Living Social vouchers for the Lopez Island 3 hour Sea Kayak Tour…read more We needed to take a ferry to get to Lopez Island. Plan accordingly. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ Outdoor adventures keeps the guided groups small (maximum 12 people). I appreciate the small groups since this was my first time kayaking. Three types of kayaks are available: single, double or triple occupancy. Discover is an accepted form of payment. A Discover Pass is required to park at Spencer Spit. If you do not have a pass, a $10 day pass can be purchased with cash or check. There were several rangers checking passes on our visit so be sure to have a pass visibly displayed to avoid being ticketed. WHAT TO BRING - Signed Release of Liability - Bathing suit or non-cotton under layers preferred - A synthetic shirt (capilene, polypro, Under Armor, etc) - Shorts or pants made of a synthetic material (may get wet/damp) - Lightweight fleece jacket or windbreaker/rain jacket to provide warmth - Water shoes or sandals that strap on (or shoes that can get wet) - Sun hat and/or sunglasses - Sunscreen and chapstick - Water bottle - Optional; Camera, Plastic bag for wet items and change of clothing - If you have a gift certificate or prepaid voucher (such as Groupon) please bring a printed copy with you! Dorito Dan was our guide for the day. Dan was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The first hour is dedicated to introductions, procedures and safety. Be sure to use the restroom before departing. Once on the water, there is no turning back. Kayaking is great for teamwork and communication. Both are required to avoid frustration. I recommend wearing weight-lifting/bicycle gloves in order to prevent blisters. Each person in our group started getting blisters towards the end of the tour. During our 3 mile kayaking trip, we spotted starfish, seals and majestic bald eagles. Thank you Outdoor Adventures for providing a magnificent day of play while surrounded by gorgeous Mother Nature. We all plan to return in the near future for another go-around.

I signed up for the full day whale watch since it stopped at Friday Harbor and I always wanted to…read morevisit San Juan island. The check-in process was really easy and friendly. Paid parking is available just outside the building. Public bathrooms are down the street near a coffee shop. They had two boats in the harbor, we were on the smaller one: Redhead. The interior has about 12 booths that fit four people each with a wrap-around deck on the outside. The boat was nice and comfortable with table service. They have coffee and hot chocolate, and food including a blueberry buckle. We saw one Gray Whale, one pod of Orcas with a young one, and one pair of Orcas. We also saw Harbor Porpoise, Harbor Seal, Sea Otter, Bald Eagles, and lots of birds. It felt like most of the time we were driving really fast to get to the whales and then to Friday Harbor, then back. Most of the time is just moving quickly on the water. Though the experience was great, I probably wouldn't go on this trip again. We didn't see many whales. It was a very long day of just going quickly through the area. If I went again it would be at a different time of year and only for the half-day tour.
