I'm goin' doooown toooown to Seattle! YEEESSS! Absolutely love Seattle's downtown area. There's so much to do and see here, and a lot of the attractions are walking distance from each other. While the weather ain't like my home in California, the sights are most certainly bedazzling. Downtown is filled with skyscraper buildings, coffee shops galore, shopping, entertainment, and lots of foodie spots. The Downtown area is also really close to a few other popular districts in the area including Lower Queen Anne, South Lake Union, Pioneer Square, The Seattle Waterfront, and the Seattle Center. Some popular attractions nearby that are worthy of your visit include The Space Needle, Chihuly Garden and Glass, The Seattle Waterfront, and of course: Pike Place Market! If for nothing else, you MUST visit Pike Place Market! That market is unbelievable. You could literally spend hours there and never get bored. And the best part of all; it's located right smack dab in the middle of downtown. Yep! Downtown Seattle has got it goin' on! read more

I do like going to Downtown Seattle. Yes there are lots of homeless people here but they are harmless and are just going through rough times. At night it can be very quiet. Not too exciting. In the afternoon or morning its different. Way more things to see. Lots of artsy stand. There is the Pike place fish market and also there is some stores or mall to visit. Nothing like wow wow. There are museums. But its nice to walk around Downtown Seattle. Very relaxing. No free parking unless Sunday. But this will require some luck read more

Apparently we visited during prime time. Fought some traffic but was able to score parking in a building structure. Of course we had to pay. As amateurs and tourists, it was a far walk to a Starbucks as that was mandatory since SB originated in Seattle. Since we went during the winter I don't recall seeing as much homeless as people have mentioned in other reviews. It was really cold! Homelessness is a major problem everywhere and we have the same issue in Downtown Honolulu, Hawaii. Our slow drive in allowed us to view the Ferris wheel, Seahawks and Blue Mariners stadium, and the city structures. We pretty much hit Space Needle, Pikes Place, Starbucks within a half day excursion. Planning another visit when it ain't so damn cold! read more

Downtown Seattle has a lot to offer for the day. There's a practically never ending supply of shops and restaurants to choose from. There's a ton of little hole in the wall places to be found in this area, which is definitely one of the best parts! This area is a melting pot and many cultural events are available year round. Not to mention there's always some good people watching to be had. Like the rest of Seattle, Downtown is pretty gross and dirty. That's just part of Seattle for you these days. Good place to live? No. But it's pretty alright for a visit. Downtown is a pretty central location and it's very easy to move around and to get to other areas. Enjoy the historical architecture while you can, at the rate Seattle is building it'll probably all be replaced by glass sky scrappers soon. read more

Walking around downtown Seattle reminds SO much of San Francisco. If you have ever been to Seattle and San Francisco you probably can relate to what i'm saying: * The big hills I mean BIG hills! * The downtown mall life * Amazing food and bars * Tons of cars and the crazy drivers....let's not forget to mention the non-stop honking! Ok, now that we got that out the way...Let's move on... So I came to Seattle for a couple days for a visit. I was able to get a spot right in the middle of everything. Near Pike Market and I must say it was the BEST experience. Seattle is TOTALLY safe to walk in the day and night. There were times when I didn't get back to my hotel till 4am and I walked around like I owned that citayy! Such a cool city to explore, even if you only have a day. Definitely a plus if you have a friend who is a local, but honestly, Yelp reviews seem to have fairly accurate star ratings. Hit the touristy places between local restaurants and bars, and you're likely to see a good portion of the various parts of the city without even really trying. While downtown though, definitely keep an eye on your car: lots are expensive so only use them if you're hanging around the same area for a while. If you park curbside, make sure you follow all directions and come back on time- they will catch you if you don't. If you're female and walk up as they notice your car, you may get some leniency. I recommend Umbra Caffe and Rain Shadow Meats for bites in the Pioneer Square area, but let's face it, most of you will go to the Pike Street Fish Market. If you do, hit up Piroshki Piroshki and don't forget the nearby aquarium. No need to feel guilty about what you eat, once night falls, parking is free and you will walk it all off. read more

I must say this is one of the safer large cities to walk around. I don't know about at night but during the day is fine. Yes, there's still homeless, panhandlers and crazies. I don't if it's because there's actually less or there's just more people around (Seattlites or tourists) walking around that it didn't bother me as much as it usually does. This city reminds me of a mini San Fran. There is not much parking and if there is, it's going to cost you. Luckily, they have a great bus system here. I didn't get a chance to ride it since I walked everywhere. Next time I'm definitely trying the SLUT... South Lake Union Trolley, you filthy minded people. Everything is within walking distance (mile to mile and a half). There's even a monorail here. In terms of touristy stuff, there's Westlake Center, the Space Needle, Duck tours and Pike Place Market. You can easily fill your day here and there's a ton of food places. Put your walking shoes on and go see Seattle! read more

Ever wonder what it's like to live in Seattle... It has it's ups and downs. Weather is blah (get use to the heavy rain) but the summers are stunning. Omg the summers are hot and it's all about kickn it and bbq'ing. The city is growing, every time I go home the people don't change but the landscape and environments do. The food scene is ridiculously good up there. And if you are thinking about a job, it's either Boeing, Microsoft, amazon, or Starbucks. People who live there complain cost of living is high... LIES! It's not. I was living in a 1bdrm near the beach front with a glass balcony for $800 a month. I'm living in the bay for twice as much in an old building. I miss Seattle but when you are from there, it feels like a bubble. The two degree separation is nice and annoying at the same time. You cannot go anywhere without knowing someone. It gets tiring seeing the same faces at restaurants, events, bars, house parties, on the road, etc... You start to feel you don't have that sense of "space". The people are great up there. They are a lot friendlier than people I've met in other states. From observation, their mentality is a bit more mature and respectful. Their sports... Suck! Everybody became a Seahawks fan AS OF 2013... Don't deny it, it's the truth. Baseball was once good when Ichiro was there and regardless how much money they spent on Cano they still won't win a WS. It is my home. I had a love/hate relationship when I lived there. But I have a missing feeling now that I'm gone. #206 read more

Do not visit this city while they are in the middle of their CITY-WIDE pain in the A$$ construction project. Between getting yelled at by rude construction workers about where to cross the street, the noise, having to take multiple detours just to get around (and that's walking. I'm not even trying to drive in this mess.) As I write this, the water is turned off in my hotel because of all this BS. It was supposed to be turned back on by 4:00 and almost 45 minutes later, still no water. And apparently there's nothing the hotel can do about it. Can't wait to get out of this city but unfortunately I've prepaid (non-refundable) for the room so I'm stuck. I am not exaggerating. Not one street, not one corner is unaffected. Stay away at all costs! **I am making an update to my very recent review of downtown Seattle. It seems that I was lied to by the hotel I was staying at in that they blamed the city's construction project for the water shutoff in our hotel. Turns out it was due to repairs being done within the hotel itself. I do stand by my comments that the construction being done is omnipresent, very inconvenient, noisy, and that the construction workers have been rude to us. And it certainly would be better/easier to visit the city after the construction is completed. But the water thing, this was not on the city. I enjoyed all the time I got to spend in the Downtown area, greatly appropriate that there is so much public art to enjoy. I did notice that there were lots of homeless everywhere, and that made me sad. It was also the first time I ever saw a rat in the "wild"... But the views are amazing, the people are friendly (yes even the homeless are friendly), and I got to watch the most amazing sunset while I was there across Puget Sound. read more

A nice place to visit, but I sure wouldn't want to live there. Downtown Seattle is wonderful to visit once or twice a year, so many good restaurants and activities. Much nice than other big cities I have visited. As a tourist its a lot of fun. read more

Very walkable and a great bus service to get around to various attractions, restaurants and green spaces. They also have Uber here which was easy to use, quick and inexpensive. I felt very safe walking around even after dark, although you should always be cautious in big cities and Seattle is a big city. read more

Seattle has one of the highest suicide rates, really??? I LOVE Downtown Seattle! You can walk forever and find all kinds of shops, restaurants in all price ranges, great photo opps of the sunset and water, fishies and other seafood, etc., etc., etc.! Downtown Seattle is so beautiful with different type of restaurants and places to see. The only bad or if I may say ugly part is the smokers that are standing every where smoking and bothering everyone else. They stand right next to the buildings and even right next to the buildings entrances bothering everyone else. It is sad that though they are violating the 25 ft rule or law, the city is not doing anything about it...? could it be because half of the city employees are also doing the same thing smoking right next their buildings and trashing the streets of downtown....?? read more

Visited Seattle with my wife and friends for a football game/vacation for 5 days, and now that I am back home I am ready to go back.There was so much to do, so much to eat, so many great beers to drink, I could go on and on.The people we met everywhere we went were nothing but friendly, (even if we were all Ram fans to watch them play the Seahawks) and helpfull.We try and go to a different city every season to take in a Ram game but it is now going to be real hard not to go back to Seattle right away. read more

A very nice city! It's full of friendly folks. It's quite the clean, especially the Link light rail. It makes the light lights back home in San Jose look like a dump =/ Lots of shopping - all easily accessible via foot. And these stores are huge!!! My favorites - All Saints, Urban Outfitters, Betsey Johnson, Sephora, Abercrombie, etc...Walking around downtown is pretty safe, even at night. They even have traffic ambassadors (wearing yellow) to help out people with directions and what not. And there's coffee, coffee, coffee and coffee at every two stores, or so. I recently reported for jury duty at the King County Courthouse. The courthouse is a nice, historic building that is fairly easy to access - especially through the tunnel from the King County Administration building. Parking at Sea Park was overpriced at $20 per day but worth it for the convenient location. We had a long 1 1/2 hour lunch break so I was looking forward to walking all around downtown and exploring. I intended to hike over to Pike Place Market or Westlake Center. First I walked to a Starbucks for lunch. It was so uncomfortable! It was sad and unpleasant with many smokers (tobacco and marijuana), homeless, and mentally ill people loudly talking and yelling out to anyone who would listen. I ate lunch outside an office building with several teenagers smoking weed just around the corner. Real nice! The walk along 3rd Street was especially bad. It improved as I walked up to 4th then got weird again around Westlake Park. I couldn't get back to the courthouse fast enough. With 40 minutes to spare I found a quiet and clean patio/courtyard area at the King County Administration building. Finally I felt safe enough to open my purse and snap some photos with my phone! The next day I walked around with some other prospective jurors and enjoyed it more as I felt safer with others around. I am a native Seattleite and it seems so sad to me that you can't even enjoy a walk alone downtown. I hope Mayor Murray is able to make some improvements so that our city will be more attractive, safe, and clean for visitors and the citizens who live and work there. read more

Downtown Seattle is such a fun part of town-there's always something to do here! There is such a huge selection of things to do, from tourist attractions to shopping areas. I love coming here to take a stroll at the Sculpture Park, watch a musical at the 5th Avenue Theatre, visiting the Pacific Science Center and shopping at clothing stores. Tourists can also visit the Space Needle in Seattle Center and Ride the Ducks! read more

Seattle is something else. Its so much fun to go and window shop, look at all the buskers, etc. ive even found free bud on the ground at Westlake! My only complaint is that its so expensive that I cant buy anything. Also one wrong step can send you to a not so pleasant area. read more

I've had a moderate time in downtown- but trying to run a business & when I get fined even though I'm told I was getting a warning for not using recycled containers is a pity & a lie! I lived in Seattle for many years. There is nothing like Downtown Seattle. Everything is located very close, so walking is not a problem. Try out the coffee, the ferry, Pike's Place Market, the space needle. Incredible. For an added treat, take the ferry at night. The view towards downtown is memorable. read more
