It's an energetic crowd of supporters enjoying the pre-show drinks and entertainment. One point is that it was a very warm day that hung on into the evening which created quite a warm environment in the lobby. Not a problem once you enter the theater though. I was apprehensive when the theater director announced that the show was over 2 hours with a 10 minute intermission but the show was well produced and kept moving. Before we knew it, it was intermission and then the show was done! A great cast and venue right in this little suburban town. There plenty of street parking and many options for food before the evening show started. Be sure to support this local arts and businesses!

We parked at the privately run city lot at the far end of Main Street ($10 for three hours, $2 per hour afterward) and walked around. There are a few cute cafés and eateries and plenty of postcard-worthy photo ops everywhere you look. We ate at Caffe Acri (separate review) before and after our ferry to Angel Island State Park (separate review). On the drive out, we stopped by Blackie's Pasture (our horse-crazy little one insisted!). We will certainly be back.

Like I don't…read moreknow what spell they cast over Japantown but the usual city "aroma" is nowhere to be found lol. Just good vibes, music, anime, cosplay sightings, and me absolutely losing it over a Japanese vintage shop like it was a life event. Gifts everywhere, manga on manga on manga... I blinked and suddenly I needed everything. You can literally watch fresh udon being made, bounce between ramen spots, sip tea like you have your life together, and yes... plenty of veggie and vegan friendly options so we're all thriving. And the history? Not just cute... it's legit. This is the OLDEST Japantown in the U.S. and one of only three left, built after the 1906 earthquake when Japanese communities relocated here and made it their cultural home (Japantown Cultural District⁠). It was once a booming hub with hundreds of businesses before WWII internment basically wiped it out, and the community had to rebuild from scratch after . So yeah... what you're walking through now is resilience with really good snacks. Hit the mall, the Peace Pagoda, the paper stores (origami, stationery, art... obsessed), and all the Ghibli love. Cute AND historic... we love a neighborhood with depth.

If I were to guess, not many Japanese live here any more. The main mall is STILL under renovation; see pictures. Still open but NOT busy on this holiday. So many events, I look forward to re-attending. See website. A few of the major events are - Cherry Blossom Festival (in April), Nihonmachi Street Fair (in August), Oshogatsu (Japanese New Year), etc. And of course, there are so many great restaurants which are too many to name here. Okay, I am repeating myself, lol. Many tours available, including self guided. Just Google it. Parking - Because this is a "tourist" location, it is more prone to car break-ins, especially if you have out of state plates. I make sure I drive my CA registered cars here only now. Service - Self service. A tourist area, expect service to reflect that. Good or bad. Price - Reasonable. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1906. Sadly, only 1 of 3 are left in the US, but this one is the largest and oldest.

Community…read moreevents are always my favorite because so many people come together, people in the Bay Area are so nice and welcoming, and you get to meet staff and business owners of small businesses in the area. Everyone was super friendly, happy to talk about their food, or drinks, or restaurants. The music and band was really good, and it was the perfect day to gather around to support local businesses. Thank you Yelp for doing this, another successful community event, and I cannot wait to visit the businesses that I stopped by and talk to. I had a really good ceviche and guac from the Mexican restaurant giving out samples, I went to various boobs that had beer, ales, and IPAs that were really delicious and I look forward to coming back to the Peninsula and supporting them.
