This little chocolate shop was down an alley and across from the restaurant where we ate dinner one night. We popped in but didn't buy anything since we were stuffed. We did return the next afternoon to select four truffles to try. They also offer pre-selected boxes and even gelato. Of the ones we tried, we think the coffee and mint chocolate chip flavors were the best. The amaretto truffle was a little weak. Anyway, we're happy to support independent businesses like this one. The front staff seemed a little young but they were helpful. We'd recommend stopping here if you're in Brevard. read more

The chocolates were fantastic--we especially loved the White Squirrel Chocolate Pops. However, the service felt cold and unwelcoming; the woman working there seemed like she'd rather be anywhere else. That said, we decided to give it another try, hoping for a better experience--and it absolutely delivered. The young lady behind the counter today was warm, friendly, and made us feel right at home! We were disappointed on our visit here, but sympathetic to the owners, too. This little shop is off Main Street and not always easy to find, across an alley from Square Root restaurant. But there is construction work underway between the two establishments, and it is difficult to get into either. That's a shame, and it is affecting their business. The woman behind the counter at Downtown Chocolates said she had no idea when the construction would be completed. We found the selection of chocolates on this afternoon to be small, and more disappointing, the woman at the counter seemed disinterested in us and was close to being downright rude. We made a small purchase and got out. They need some changes here. read more

Located in an alley across from The Square Root restaurant, this chocolate shop is a hidden gem in downtown Brevard. They had lots of delicious treats on display to choose from, including decorative treats with Brevard and White Squirrel theming. I really enjoyed the chocolate truffles. My favorites were the Black Russian, White Russian, and Irish Coffee. The rest of the family enjoyed the chocolate covered snacks, like the chocolate covered Oreo cookies and chocolate covered pretzels. This is a great place to grab a treat or a gift. Great little spot and thank goodness they were open on Mondays as most restaurants are closed. The mint chocolate chip ice cream was delicious and the portion was very gracious for just a single scoop, the store smelled like fresh chocolate and there was a variety to choose from. Wish I could leave negative stars. We walked into the chocolate store and my grand baby went up to the lady working there and asked for a sample. The lady laughed at her. She said "Are you kidding" then continued laughing. My grand baby looked up at her confused and she said "Of course not if you want free samples go to Costco." She then proceeded to say "are you kidding me" looking at other customers trying to rope them in. I was so angry I was shaking. We left and my grand baby started crying. I understand that not every store gives samples and I understand. But the way she went about it was unprofessional and rude. Please treat your costumers like actual humans! Thanks! This has been my favorite chocolate shop for over 20 years, but the last year has left me disappointed. The shop is often closed when their posted hours say they are open, if you call to confirm with staff they give incorrect information (4 separate times we have had employees confirm they will be open and what hours only to arrive and find it closed with no explanation), and the lady behind the counter could not be less inviting. We often buy in bulk as we don't live in town but she made us feel like such an inconvenience that we decided to buy the bare minimum so as not to disappoint the kids. I sincerely hope some changes are made soon so this store can go back to the standard it previously set. read more

The chocolate from here is amazing the problem is actually getting it. This is my wife's favorite chocolate shop and we stop by every time we come to town but several times we have come they have been closed when it says it is open online. We have even called to ask what time they would be open the next day and when we went they were closed. We love this shop just wish the hours were consistent. read more

We love Downtown Chocolates! It's a must-go-to for my husband and I whenever we come to Brevard to visit his family. Cute little shop, not too fancy or overcrowded. Reasonable prices, we'd say! And a huge selection! My favorites are the caramel chocolates and the chocolate covered oreos. My husband likes to get the chocolate covered pretzels, and a milk chocolate turtle! Yummy. Another thing we love about Downtown Chocolates is that almost everything comes in milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or and white chocolate - so you get to choose and try new things! And, the employee are kind and helpful. And - patient - as I'm always struggling to decide which chocolate coating to go for! All in all, we are fans of this place! It is the town mascot I guess but the chocolate is on a stick and my boy devoured it. It was yummy. I can't review all the chocolates so I'll just recommend the coconut chocolate bite. I was staying at the inn at brevard, which is walking distance from all things downtown, and wandered in from Main Street to enjoy some impulse chocolate. Now, what is better than impulse chocolate? I got an 8 piece box of truffles as well as a piece of dark chocolate bark to nibble on as I walked down the street. The person behind the counter was really helpful with recommendations to aid my decision anxiety and I ended up with a very tasty assortment that I've enjoyed for the last few days. The quality is much better than any of the shops in the Asheville/Brevard area and the price is better too. We always have to buy extra to take home and also give as gifts. We find the owners delightful. They have always been friendly, willing to answer any questions and happy to help. Visited yesterday ... not the first time ... personally I prefer the chocolates here over the "popular" Asheville chocolate shops .... BUT .... I hesitate visiting because I have yet to meet a friendly staff member. The young staff seem to feed their displeasure of serving from the senior staff there. I hesitated writing a review from a single experience but after multiple occasions .... but they have the best chocolate!
