Nice people, but I understand when I'm being BS'd. I bought a bike there 3 weeks ago, rode it 3 times for a total of 30 miles on good surfaces. One of the tires flattened while stored in garage. I took it back to the store yesterday and they said a spoke had flattened the tire because I did not put air in the tire before each ride? Come on, now. 3 times of customary riding? I don't put air in my car tire before every drive. That should have been warranty at 3 weeks. It makes me wonder what I may face if something major breaks with this bike. I was recommended Downtown Bikes by a friend who owned a RBX as well as another friend who deal with and does much for the city of Fort Lauderdale including Art in the Garden and much more and was on their board improvingy our beauty city donating his time and is much respected. This was my second visit to Downtown bikes. My first bike which was stolen needed disk brake adjustments. Since then I bought a new bike in because the front derailleur was rubbing first of all they didnt remember me them they asked me to come back to explain the problem. Robin brought me back to the repair area and the technician was there to explain it to me and I asked thhem to show me why it wss rubbing Robin rudly said "look it up on YOUTUBE so they dont have to explain what they do. I was intereated this women at front dest came back with me out of curiosity asked how they do it for my own sake. Not that I would go any place else. She rudly told me in so many words to watch "YouTube " like they dont want to be bothered or give any secret away IN A RUDE WAY. I observed my front derailleur was the problem as it made noise on a brand new 21 spead as the technician played around with it the same way instructions receiving the bike said to do but I didn't all kinds of rubbing noise was made little did he know my phone video was recording. This was the front derailleur. Even after the "supposed fix as I rode it around near the store the same problem happened I returned to Downtown and they acted as if I were dumb and I didn't know how to shift making the 7 gear part having to ultimately dependent on the three gear front in rubbing or noise Obviously you have to be in gear but even in gear I heard rubbing even after it was peddled in gear. My friend who deals with bikes told me this is not right. I told Downtown this.They acted as if I was nuts. I had another bikes fixed adjusted here both 21 speeds with no problems. When as aforementioned that brought me back in repair area The lady when I wanted them to show me what they do to fix problem like any normal any company would do she said look it up on YOUTUBE making me think anybody could repair she rudely said this TWICE. Then as previously mentioned I will as my friend as to second opinion they became rude saying "fuck this then ask your "fucken friend" After paying almost $40 plus $40+ to have my former bik e disk breaks which ever worked tightly and this new bike fixed front derailleur adjusted. NEVER AGAIN They will say "fuck this "fuck to you clearly vulgar company as we can see what they only have low ratings DONT GO TO THIS COMPANY I AM MY FRIEXND5ARE GOOD MEN FIND AN HONEST PLACE TO BUY OR REPAIR YOUR BIKE. My friend is looking to buy a new road bike and the only place I brought her to was Downtown Bikes. In previous posts I've explained I've purchased both of my most recent bikes here. I have a BMC road bike and a Giant Roam 2 mountain bike. We got there at a good time. The sales rep (forgive me for not remembering his name) had a customer and we were next. Several more customers came in after us and he acknowledged them, explained he was short staffed and would attend to them shortly. The salesperson took the time to explain the different road bike options, makes and differences without rushing us. We were looking at a Giant and Liv. He also noticed we were wearing our masks so he put his on a well. He continued to keep the other customers informed and was also patient with us. Please shop around and don't settle for a business like this that only has positive reviews from friends of the owner and staff. This business is completely unorganized and I would not recommend allowing them the opportunity to scam money from you. Customer Service: Terrible. Call them and nobody knows what's going on which shows a lack of communication and training. Once you finally get them to agree to something on the phone they will never follow through. They'll act like they have no idea what you're talking about when you go in. So how about an email so you can have things in writing? They won't reply! Staffing: A joke. Last I spoke with them they were giving me this big excuse that they have 3 mechanics but they only know how to do certain things.....I guess they have a frame guy, a wheel guy, and a suspension guy....what an absolute joke! Even with basic mechanic skills anyone can assemble a bike in under 2 hours, but Downtown Bicycles claims it takes 2 weeks. They must be respoking the wheels for free. How nice.... I can go on and on but I've made my point. I left Downtown Bicycles the other day so pissed off. Walked into a bike shop in Hollywood and was in and out with a brand new bike in 20 minutes. And I paid $100 less than Downtown was trying to charge me. read more

I spoke to two males on the phone regarding renting a bike at the 2571 E Sunrise Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL location. The first explained that they take rental requests, specs and payments only online. So, I got online and wanted help with definitions and labels of things. The second guy was equally impatient. He said he had people in front of him, but missed saying, If you give me your name and number, sir, I can call you back when I don't have people waiting for me. Instead he said It's really simple and self-explanatory, while I could hear his eyes rolling. So, suppressing the expletive, I just closed the conversation. It was odd because in Feb 2022, I got in-person service for my rental and I felt everyone went out of his way to make sure I was getting what I wanted. Sad. I called Downtown Bicycles and Milton said come on in and i will take care of you. I figured he would be pushing an expensive bike on me. Milton listened to my needs and gave me a few options. I had a terrible experience renting 2 bikes for my kids while they were in town. First you need to know that they rent bikes by the calander day (not a 24 hour day simular to renting a car, motorcycle or even a hotel room). I picked up the bikes approximaty 4pm on Friday and returned them at 10 am Monday when they opened up becuase they are closed on Sunday. I had the bikes a total of 30 hours (less than 3 days ) and they charge for 4 full days. They said everyone charges the same way and blamed it on thier website. I als rented 2 bikes from a close buy competitor and they charged for 3 days vs 4. The staff attitudes were very poor and they all acted as if they did not like their employment clearly did not care that I was not happy. I am buying 2 new bikes next week and I promise it will not be at Downtown Bicycles. read more

They charge a "destination fee" for purchasing their bikes. Which what it really means is that you pay their shipping cost because they can't be bothered to what all businesses do. I bought a bike that was around 650$ and when I got home to ride it, it was squeaking and the gears weren't shifting right. I decided to take it over to a bike shop in palm city, fl as I wasn't driving all the way back down to that shop. The guy at this bike shop was awesome. Their prices are very reasonable and competitive with the best prices on the Interwebs...if you take into consideration shipping and handling costs. I have bought two bicycles from them and both experiences have been outstanding. I've been there on a busy Saturday afternoon and within 15 minutes, someone had taken care of me, explained how to properly use the derailleur and talked me out of buying stuff I didn't need. That was GREAT customer service. They are customer-focused and an overall great crew both on the sales floor as well as behind the counter in the maintenance dept. Went into Downtown Cycles on Federal Hwy for a new tube. They then informed me that I need a new tire and tube protector to which I agreed. I bought a tube, tire and tube protector and they charged me $12 dollars for the installation. Without riding the bike/tube the tire went flat. I took it back and they concluded that it was the rim. When I asked for a cut on cost for a new rim they said no. When I asked if they were going to charge me for a new tube they yes. So I payed $12 dollars for professional installation that they did not stand by. I did not ask but they probably would have charged me another $12 if I had bought the wheel from them and had the tube installed. My time is also worth money. They have lost a customer. I can be picky and frugal so don't think I didn't call every other store in Broward and some of miami before I got connected with Christy. This girl is incredibly knowledgeable and explains everything perfectly. She thinks of those small things that we wouldn't and really helps you avoid making the wrong decision. I should mention that I drove up from Miami with the expectation of spending too much cash but Christy fixed me up and saved me a bit. If you are looking for people that know what they're talking about, and not just because they read it it- these folks are practitioners, then you need to pay this place a visit. I wish I had read the reviews prior to bringing my bike for repair. I chose the store because of its proximity. A bike was given to me, and it had not been used for at least 2 years. The tires were flattened and the rear brake linkage was inoperative. I entered the store and spoke with the desk person,stating my intent to have the bike repaired and brought up to speed. She referred me to the repair person. He looked it over, noted the brake damage and stated it would cost $95. I agreed and reiterated several times, with his assent, that $95 would bring the bike up to speed. He took my name and number and stated it would be ready by the end of the day. The store called later that day. I picked up the bike the following day. It looked good, aside from the front tire which required some air. I went to the desk person to pay. She stated the amount totaled just over $150. I stated that the agreed upon price was $95, and that no one had called me regarding a price increase. Another desk person stated that the rear tire required a spoke repair/replacement. I reiterated my position. The desk person (she) stated that there must have been "miscommunication" between the repair person and me, i.e., it was my fault for not having a written proposal and it wasn't incumbent upon the the repair person nor her to have informed me prior to the additional cost beyond the verbal agreement. I feel that I was treated unfairly and unprofessionally. Fool me once, shame on me... Please consider a different store should you require repair. read more

THANK GOD. I purchased my first two bikes from here for me and my wife, and while I got sidetracked I purchased my next two personal bikes from another shop ( HUGE MISTAKE ). The staff is friendly, outgoing, helpful and really not there to steal your money like other shops. They were able to help me get my bike back in order and trouble shot problems that they did not create. Carlos is a great employee, always there to not only educate but give options as well. All in all the shop is great, full of great staff and I am glad it so close to the house. I ma have left and went to a different shop for a brief time but I learned my lesson and am thrilled to have true pros working on my bike and educating me on various options. read more

I pedaled into the shop unannounced with a twitchy stem, and a bad tire. Was expecting a typical certified mechanic to give me the typical certified resolution. I was pleasantly surprised to have been greeted by a mechanic & store manager of old world charm. The mechanic, Flaco simultaneously listened to my concerns and prepared shots of espresso for us to enjoy. We then sat together, talked about my mechanical issues, looked at replacement parts, and made a few course of action decisions. Satisfied that my bicycle was in good hands, I left store and crossed the street to join my wife for brunch. After a few hours I was called me back into the store. My 2015 Bianchi Otre XR2 looked and felt like a brand new bicycle. The attention to detail was far above what I had expected! Milton & Flaco then took the time to explain the service, as well as offer some much appreciated maintenance advise. We talked for around 15 minutes not as store employees to customers, but as seasoned cyclists who shared a lifelong passion. Was this service expensive? Yes. Very. Was it worth it? Damn straight is was. I highly recommend Downtown Bicycle for both seasoned cyclist & novice cyclists looking for high quality shop and service. You may have to pay a little extra but as I've said in the past, you don't take a Ferrari to a Jiffylube. read more
