Took my bike in for a simple fix and they kept my bike for over 2 weeks only to tell me it would have to be sent out to be fixed for $250. Took it to another shop and they fixed it for $75. I loved dealing with Jim over the years. Very upstanding and gentle man, knowledgeable, willing to help and with well priced inventory. I returned recently to see it under new ownership. That was a shock, and a bit unsettling. But I must say, the new owner and his staff were all I could hope for. bought my bike from Jims over 20 years ago Kona stinky over $2000 brought it for him to service now as many of you know Jim no longer owns the store. He informed me that he threw my bike away because I would not pick it up Jim never called me one time to pick up my bike. He actually looked me in the face and said he threw it away, do not trust Jim or the new bike shop as they told me to leave the property and never come back I would not I would not trust them either originally paid over $2000 and spent easily another 2000 upgrading the front fork derailer system, seat, post and headset along with many other components. I have had some of the best times of my life on that bike it is been out west to Colorado with me and never let me down. I love that bike and Jim knew that. extremely dishonest, and not to be trusted, I would not even fix a flat there. read more

This is an excellent bike shop. Prices are the best I've ever seen for a rental of a full suspension mountain bike. You get a decently specced canondale habit for $37 for the whole day!!! It is conveniently located right across the street from Quiet Waters Park where there are decent MTB trails. If you are itching to get your MTB fix in Florida, this is a great option especially if you don't have a car that can transport a bike to more gnarly trails like those found at Markham Park. read more

Jim's got me into bicycles , I purchased my last two bikes there, while I got a hell of a deal on my first purchase, I moved to a road bike and at that point I feel the store ( while it is not their job to ) did not educate me properly on my next purchase. I started going there as I felt it was a safe and friendly establishment, however as I made my second purchase ( which I am happy about ) I have learned that I could have done better somewhere else. As Is aid I made my second purchase there which was i used bike, and while I could have been educated more on the bike I would call it an impulse buy, which after much work I am very happy about. I would say however that pricing as mentioned before, even with the so called discount is high. I spoke to them about ordering a new group set, handlebars and stem and by ordering myself from other brick and mortar shops I was able to save over 700 bucks and that is after I paid my new shop for install, ( this was after I leaned my used bike had a conversion done to the bottom bracket which appeared to be glued in, so I had to order a different bracket ) JT loves bikes and is an amazing asset to the shop, Jim also was great and very out going at the start. Positives : Good staff ( JT ) and free lifetime adjustments of the bike. Good location Cons: Pricing ( as all places most items can be found cheaper with research), not a lot of stock on items ( they can however order anything you want ) and at times staff can get overwhelmed and tend to speak to customers as if they have same knowledge set. read more

It's my first time buying a bike and it was a completely smooth transaction. I wasn't looking for any type of bike in particular, just the last expensive one as I would be using it to ride around my community. I tried buying a bike online but had a bad experience so I opted for just going to a shop. An employee approved me and shows me a couple bikes in my price range. They were both Scott. He told me all about them and I chose the lesser priced one. They said less than a week should be ready. I came back a 5 days later to pick up my bike and the owner explained to me that they ordered a women's bike but the company sent back a men's bike. For this reason, he gave me a couple options: wait another week and get the bike I ordered, take a different brand bike for the same price that they have in stock, or take the upgraded version of the bike I ordered which they also had in stock. The only drawback I could find to the upgraded version was that it was purple.. I put that past me and went with it! Needless to say, I'm very satisfied with my purchase and with the way they handled the situation. Any other person could've said "sorry, it'll have to be another week". I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a good bike. read more

Jim and his staff recently helped me put together my dream bike from scratch. Every detail was custom chosen. Jim spent a ton of time with me and was extremely helpful every step of the way. I was spending a serious amount of cash but noticed the few times I was in the shop that he treats everyone, regardless of budget or experience, with the same authentic level of attention and customer care. Everyone there loves bikes and are dedicated to helping new and experienced riders to get the most out of their riding hobby. I love these guys. You just can't find this kind of care in large chain stores or online. It's worth a little more money to support your local bike shop. These guys really do care! Jim's bicycles rocks! P.S. I purchased a bike for my husband for Christmas. Jim and JT were extremely helpful and gave that customer service that you love when you shop at smaller, non-chain stores. I tried to apply for a job at this location and the manager had no shirt on. I explained my situation about how I have been to the store many times over the years for Bike supplies and how I really liked the store. I worked as a bike messenger and have worked in bike shops as a mechanic previously in New York City. I let him know I am very mechanically skilled and that I could learn any of requirements to work as a mechanic at this location and with a bit of learning I could further my skills in bike repair. He laughed at me saying that I had no time to teach someone how to bleed breaks even tho I was trying to let him know how much I wanted to learn this and I am capable of doing this work. I realized he did not want to hire me or that the store had no space to hire more people. Knowing it was going nowhere I asked if I could at least leave my resume incase anything came up, and he laughed at me again. I have never had someone make me feel so little before while attempting to apply for a job before. If you are not hiring just say you are not hiring. I've purchased bicycles and supplies from this location over the years but I'll never go back to this place again. read more

They lie to their customers. ordered and paid in full for a rear baby seat rack from here on Monday they told me would be there on Thursday on Thursday I called they said it would be there FridayI need it for Saturday. Saturday morning I call the pick it up they tell me it's there , they have it. I drive out of my way waste a half an hour to go get it it's not there it's a rack that they have in stock it doesn't fit child seats on it says right on it "not for usewith a child-seat" all because they lied and said that they had it and wasted my time . Shipping taking a full week these days is ridiculous especially when I told them I needed it for a family trip on Memorial Day weekend . This was a big deal . I could have used prime for cheaper and had it in 2 days. Liars . This is why retail is dying. read more

The people here acted and spoke to me like I've never touched a bike before, even at one point saying, "I bet you've never used a road bike before." Because the idiot owner of a bike store in a horse community threw me out of his store for asking questions on behalf of my 12-year-old nephew. I am a 68-year-old​ retired attorney who likes to make an informed decision when buying, whether it's a $3,000 Cannondale Quick 1, or $660 Special. So when the loathsome idiot owner of the bike store near me behaved badly, we drove 50 minutes to Deerfield Beach to Jim's Bikes​. J.T. spent more than an ​hour working with my nephew making sure his selection was absolutely appropriate for a growing young teenager. When it was my turn to buy a bike, I opted for a Cannondale Quick 1. After size and color was determined, JT called the factory to find out if any dealership in the country had a Quick 1 in inventory. He found​ one and at a significantly reduced price because the bike was eligible for end of season closeout​​ pricing. Jim, the owner of Jim's Bikes decided to pass along the significant savings to me, though he wasn't obligated, and I surely had no expectation as a new customer of getting VIP pricing. Last week, another adult family member needed a new bike. We made the 100 minute round trip journey to Jim's Bikes with great anticipation of how the purchase experience would go. Jim, the owner, and JT both spent quality time with my 51-year-old​ family member. Though I could afford any bicycle in the store, they recommended the $600 Special, and that's what we ordered. J.T. delivered the bicycle all the way from Deerfield Beach​ and made sure that it was properly fitted. However pleasant the purchase experience was, the defining moment of character came about at the cash register. I had stopped by the store a week after the bicycle was ordered to pay for the bicycle. As it was JT's day off, Jim the owner asked me what price I had agreed on with JT. I told him that J.T. had set a price of $600, but that I wasn't sure if that included taxes the very expensive night light and basket. Jim decided to honor the price that J.T., had quoted without checking with J.T. if the taxes, expensive light, ​and basket were also included. SAFETY FIRST! I've been shopping at Jims ever since I got into mountain biking, and later into road biking. Over the years I've had the pleasure of dealing with Jim himself at Jim's bikes. The whole team at Jim's bikes is great, from the manager JT to George the mechanic. Never have I had such a consistently solid service over the years, no other place will the owner come out to shake your hand as he askes what he can do for you. I've had 3 custom bikes built at Jim's bikes at a very reasonable price. I live quite far from Jim's bikes and for almost all of my bike related purchases I will drive the 30 minutes just to buy it from Jim's. Another great thing about Jim's is that if you skill level ranges from racer like myself to casual biker Jim's bikes has a range of bike and advice for whatever your interest and skill level will be. You won't walk in feeling pressured to purchase a bike either, very good prices and fast service. Just a warning though, they get quite busy but any wait you might have is worth it, just sit right on down on the couch. read more

I bought my bike from Jim few years ago. I got great help from JT and Jim in choosing the bike and everything else i needed. My bike was built on time, but after a few months it became apparent that there was a defect that couldn't be corrected with adjustments. So Jim stepped up and handled the exchange with Cannondale. While it was going on, they provided me with a loaner road bike, so i didn't have to miss out on rides. Then new bike came in and was put together and the guys at the shop couldn't be any better through all this. Every one there is kind, knowledgeable and willing to help. I love going there, always a good experience. When i leave my bike for service, they always call to let me know that it's ready to be picked up. Yes, sometimes they are busier than others and it's not same day maintenance turnaround, but there are those times as well and i love that. In fact, i definitely am due for adjustments, so hoping for not being separated from my bike for long. read more

They're not in the selling business, they're in the biking business, so they will advice you to what best suits your needs, even if it's not the most expensive bike they have, or the most expensive accessory. Purchased my bike for a good price, but that was it!!! WORSE bike shop EVER... Had my bike in for what they called free tune up for life... Asked to have the brake, suspension and chain checked for adjustment, 4 days later when I asked over the phone if the bike was ready they said the next day! When I got there the next day my bike was in the same spot dirty as before, dry chain, suspension was loose, nothing was done to it!!! Dry chain come on, that would be one of the most important thing on a tune up. When ask when the bike would be ready the owner said, come back tomorrow, I said I want my bike now, and that's when he was extremely rude to me right in front of my 6 year old son. I would never go back to that store, let alone recommend to anyone!!! There's way better bike shops in the area!!! read more
