We had one bike pop two spokes in the rear drive-side. We were a thousand miles from home and from my tool box, what to do? Stopped at one bike shop and despite their efforts they did not have the spoke length we needed. We arrived at our accommodation in Hillsboro Beach and stopped off at Generation to see if they could help. What a treat! The gent who helped us was multi-tasking two other customers and had no problem with our request. Went in to the back and got us five spokes (a few spares just in case). We also picked up a cassette removal tool. I noted a number of other handy tools available in the store in case we need them. We were in and out the door in minutes, attended by somebody knowledgeable and in a good mood. He understood we just needed an emergency solution, not a new 10k bike. What an absolute delight! I went to Bike Generation because my ride wasn't as comfortable as it should be. I believe I was helped by Tyler. He suggested a smaller stem. He had the stem in stock and not only installed it but put my bike on a stationary stand and had me ride. He adjusted handlebars and seat for the perfect fit. I didn't expect that and the charge for the stem and labor was very reasonable. The bike is much more comfortable. Again a very very positive experience. Earlier this week, I walked into Bicycle Generation with the full intention of purchasing a bicycle. There was absolutely no one in the showroom. I saw and heard people in the shop area and the office area. A bell rings when you come through the main entrance. Nobody responded. I walked completely around all the bike displays four times. On these tours, I stopped to check out different bicycles. Still, nobody from the Bicycle Generation staff came out to offer assistance or to even to greet me. On my 5th tour of the store, I walked out. I guess Bicycle Generation doesn't need business. Must be nice. I immediately drove to Jim's Bicycles on Powerline and bought a great Cannondale bicycle. At Jim's, my questions were answered and I was treated like a valued customer. As a consumer, you should be appreciated. Bicycle Generation obviously hasn't learned that lesson. read more

Last review of the year. There are very few bike shops that are sub-par. They almost all have a good natured and helpful vibe. Generation has that vibe too. I popped in again today, I do now and then after a ride. They were opening early just because, on New Year's Eve. Who does that? Well people that enjoy there work I would say. I was helped out with some vague questions I had on gps speedometers. The prices were pretty good on them. There was many different options but we were able to narrow it down based on wireless, heart monitor and of course price. There are plenty of good bike shops out there that will help get the right equipment and give cheap repairs. For sure you can count generation as one of those helpful places. I'm not usually up this way, so I never would have found this shop, but as luck (or unluck :( ) would have it.... my original slow roll around town bike was stolen from my building a few weeks ago, so I found myself for the second time in the pandemic of bike shortages. I had thought to cut my losses and take whatever was sitting in the big box shelf because even online shops are out of stock on anything decent. But my SO found bicycle generation and in we went. To my surprise they not only had in stock bikes, but carried one of the brands I had been pining for but were sold out everywhere. The owner of Bicycle Generation, Tyler, sold me a high end bike that is not right for the geometry of my body. The frame is too long for me and the handlebar is too wide for me. I tried a shortest stem and a zero offset seat post but could never ride the bike because it still does not fit me properly. The poor geometry was confirmed by a Retul certified fitter who owns a fit studio and has 20 years experience fitting professional teams around the world and by the owner of a mobile bike repair service and former owner of a bicyle store who I called on for help. The owner of Bicycle Generation, Tyler, also charged me for bar tape that he never gave me and for a saddle that was inappropriate and I did not need, and he failed to provide me with the derailleur battery charger that came with the bike. I have tried to call Tyler but it appears that he hides behind his employees who screen his calls. read more

Came here twice in one day. Both times the guys here were great! Franky, Bob and Collin were attentive both times. In the morning I picked up spray for my chain, and later on we hit a thorn that was quickly deflating the tire. We pedaled and prayed to get there without it flattening out all the way and made it! Collin fixed our flat in no time, as well as a bent rotor on the other bike. They were quick, pleasant and got us back on the rode! Definitely will go back for future needs. read more

Brought my bike in after it sat for 4 months outside. I was quoted $100 to replace lower bearings and; I was told everything else was fine. I called back a week later and was told they didn't have my bike. After informing them that they had to because I didn't I was told i'd receive a call back in 10 minutes. I waited an 1 hour and 15 minutes before calling back myself and being told they had found it but it needed more parts. I showed up after work to see what was needed, after a bit of conversation with the mechanic. I was told I should leave if I didn't want everything fixed the way he wanted it fixed because I "wouldn't be able to shift and my chain would fall off;" I questioned the price and he said about $70. I agree and go to pay out and the total was $137. He says it's for tuning and other things so I pay and move on. I rode my bike yesterday for the first time since picking it up (i picked it up 2 days ago) and it skips 2nd and 7th gear and the chain falls off if you go from 6-8 in one gear change. So moral of the story if you want to pay $140 to be talked down to and then have a bike that still doesn't operate properly; head here! read more

The sales person seemed annoyed he had to help us despite and gave us attitude. He only showed me one dirty old bike and told me that that was all he had to show me Bc everything else was expensive even though he had no clue of my budget. He was inconsistent in his facts. A friend recommended this shop. I just bought a very expensive Specialized bike and needed all the gear to go with it as in lights, shoes, helmet, glasses, etc. I was the ONLY customer. I walked in and no one was wearing a mask. I had on my mask plus a face shield. An older man asked me "if I believed in that stuff?" Really? Are we still questioning if the Covid virus is real or not? The front door had a sign that said masks required but I guess not for him. Even if his views are different than mine, he should not have gone there and just appreciated the business. He was very reluctant to help me. It was as though he felt he had better things to do than wait on me and wear a mask. He did not want to explain the products and his attitude was very belligerent. I prefer service with a smile and not a grunt. I'm sure there was some sexism in there too since I am a woman. If he is the owner, he needs to retire and sell the business. He just lost all of mine plus the servicing of the bike. This is the closest bike shop to me but I'd drive to Boca or Weston just to be treated nicely. read more

I have not been to a bike shop in years because there was no need to but I have been sitting on this road bike that has needed a tune up and new rims for a very long time, so this place was recommended to me. Bicycle Generation is not a large bike shop but a small shop on Hillsboro Blvd on the South side of the street which has room for free parking right in front, which is great considering the traffic and parking situation for Hillsboro Blvd. My son and I parked the car and brought the bike in and when we walked in we could see many high end road bikes, mountain bikes and hybrids. Great variety for serious bikers. We walked towards the back and we were greeted by one of the repair guys as he walked out from the back room. Extremely friendly and took the bike immediately from us and we followed him into the back repair room which was a large area with lots of inventory of parts. The repair area was as big as the showroom. He immediately checked everything out on the bike, gears, tires, odometer settings and luckily all we needed was the rims , tune up and offered to tape up the handle bars at no charge. I figured we would have to leave the bike there until next week because usually these bike shops are backlogged and do not have the parts or rims in stock that you need. Well he had the rims we needed for an old Cannondale which he never thought he would have in stock, but even to his surprise he had them, otherwise he said he would of had to order them. Really helpful and even checked our backup tubes to make sure we had enough in case of a flat we could get on a ride, enough air cylinders, everything we had in the little storage bag in the back of the seat. He told us the bike would be ready in 3 hours. That was a first for me because I usually would have to leave it at a shop for at lease 1 day. He rang up the ole register, and for what needed to be done, which included a tune up and the settings for when we have to pick up the bike, it was really reasonable. We were out of there in 45 minutes and on our way..........by car, not bike. Bicycle Generation took charge of that bike as soon as we walked in and it took all the anxiety out of wondering what had to get done. Very easy visit, and my son will be using my bike tomorrow!!! Don't rent a bicycle from here! They have created an atmosphere of rudeness at this business. If you get a flat with their bicycle they want you to either call a cab to bring the bicycle back to the shop or buy a repair kit for $30. When I brought the bicycle back because the pedal crank had a loud click like a bearing was out, I was told that all the bicycles were like that because of the humidity and that they would fix them all in about 3 months. Take your business down to All Bicycles a couple of blocks away where you will be treated fairly. read more

I stopped in here while running to the beach. I was I intrigued to see what kind of biks they had and the price range. I was shocked and amazed at the same time. This place is a bikers paradise. They have something for everyone here. As I looked around the prices kept jumping up and up and up. I thought well it has to stop somewhere I kept browsing I've been waiting to buy a bicycle to go cicling with friends. Now I knew the prices of a small shop like this one would be a bit more then say Walmart or Target. The prices from what I could see started at 400 dollars and I saw a bike going for 7000 dollars. I must admit I bought if I paid 7000 dollars for a bike it would pedal itself to where I want to go. lol. I even saw a bike made out of bamboo which is amazing. Maybe not worth 5000 dollars to me but for a collector maybe. They also fix bikes and sell bike gear as with any specialty shop. read more

Met an amazing, nice and helpful man at this bike shop! My boyfriend and I were visiting the area and brought our bikes to ride around. It's our first time riding our new road bikes and unfortunately the chain popped off. I called one local bike shop for help and the man on the phone was super rude and said they didn't have time to help me that day. I called this shop and the guy on the line said they were free and come on by when we can. We met Bobby. He graciously helped us with the chain and fit our bikes appropriate to our heights- since we bought our bikes secondhand we didn't know to adjust accordingly. He even showed us tips on how to use it. We bought other items in the store and he easily popped on the water cage and fixed our chain lock to use right away. Very nice customer service and fast transaction. Very pleased to have stopped by. Definitely love the area so we'll be visiting more often and possibly will buy a newer bike in the near future. read more

I have been in this bike shop several times for tuneups and other miscellaneous things with my own bike and have always had a good experience. Very helpful, without that cocky "I work in a bike shop" vibe you get in most shops in big cities, not to mention, decent prices. So I shouldn't be surprised by the service I received over this past Christmas. My bother (a cyclistwith some hookups) sent an unassembled SE PK Ripper fixed gear bike directly to BG as a gift for my boyfriend. At first, there was some concern that it would not be ready before X-mas. I dealt directly with Steve, and because his main concern (obviously) was to assemble the bikes that were actually purchased in the shop, mine may not get done in time. I was quoted between $80-100 to assemble it, but that was totally fine with me. As X-mas eve drew closer, I was just getting nervous it wouldn't be finished. Steve went WAY above and beyond when he told me he was bringing the bike home and assembling it there for a fraction of the quote!! He was pretty excited about the bike as well as he hadn't seen one since he was a teenager!! I ended up picking up a freshly assembled, BEAUTIFUL bike from him at his home at 6pm on Christmas eve. Unreal. He was totally my hero as my boyfriend flipped over the bike (who wouldn't?)!! I went for the the pre gran fondo ride, that was excellent for all riders.I was one of the slower ones and they were there for my every move.The cost was nothing, they supplied food for breakfast as well as a keg for lunch.I had the nice kid check out my bike and had to practically break his arm to take a tip,let alone refuse to charge me.class act here.Will definitely give them my business.Thanks guys! I had the exact opposite experience from Gregory W. I rented a road bike for several days and they couldn't have been nicer. They gave me a tube and cartridge in case of a flat, the bike was in great shape, and the charge was extremely reasonable. I was able to escape the Chicago winter and get in three days of riding outdoors. They certainly earned my return business. read more

My very expensive Specialized road bike that I purchased at Bicycle Generation was stolen, I know BG is not at fault for this. However I failed to copy down the bikes serial number to aid in recovery, I called BG and asked if they keep the bikes SN on record and was told that they don't have time to do this on every bike they sell. Really? I know they took my address, email and other data. I talked to several other high end bike retailers and they all stated they copy serial number. I expected better. read more
