I've only had one haircut here, and Matt was on duty, no partner present. Matt is blunt and inquisitive, and sensitive individuals may think "Whoa!", but the ensuing conversation is intelligent and empathetic. For elderly men alone, a barber becomes a valued friend, and I am 100% satisfied with this shop filling that role. Matt is fast and skilled. I got a businessman's cut and I don't know how Matt does it, but my cut lasted at least 150% longer than previous cuts w'out me looking skinned when I exited the shop. While this barber is moderately skilled, his customer service skills and decorum leave a lot to be desired. If you're family oriented, I recommend thinking twice about patronizing this establishment. On a recent visit, the owner had no issue with dropping numerous F-bombs while a mother and her two children were patiently waiting for haircuts. I understand that's typical barbershop culture, but read the room and have some respect for crying out loud. Additionally, he's rather pompous and doesn't operate with any detectable sense of urgency and seems content with shooting the bull rather than providing swift efficient service. What's more, the trim over one of my ears is way higher than the other. Overall, the end result doesn't outweigh the undesirable service and lackluster atmosphere, and I will not be returning. read more

I saw another review about arrogance or a pompous nature of Matt, the owner/barber. I can see how his confidence and forwardness could throw someone off, but don't let that detract from his genuine friendliness. There was a bit of a wait, which is a good indication of how popular he is. I got there late, so the wait would have put me past his closing time, but he was gracious enough to let me and the next regular customer in. He gave me a nice, even haircut. It was quick, pleasant, affordable and a much better cut than what I get at one of the chain stores. If I lived in the area, I would be a regular of Matt's. read more

Stopped in for a last-minute haircut before an event. I called ahead and they do not take appointments, only walkins. Based off of the reviews I was a little bit hesitant however I was very happy with their service. Both of the barbers in there were really nice, asking great questions and carrying on conversations with their clients the whole time. Poor customer service. I took my son for a haircut today I know cutting a little kid's hair can be challenging The Barber did the best that he could. That being said I felt it was rushed. When he noticed his shop got really busy he said that's it I'm done He'd kept telling me to go to a place in Salem that Is specializes in kids If he was not up for the task be more upfront. my advice would be Be more of the front with your customers And not so rude especially when they are paying there hard earned money for service. Best cut around. Old school barber shop. Guys do a lot of talking, no one is a stranger once you get to this shop. Matt is straight forward and has a quick wit. I enjoy the atmosphere and as mentioned before he gives a great cut. read more

And I had been struggling finding a simple haircut for a decent price, and a horrible cut from an "athletic cuts" kinda place ;) took me to Downtown. Cut was good, quick, and comfortable setting. Matt was talkative but not unduly so and you could tell he knew his customers and had an interest in them. Everyone but me was a repeat customer. There were 4 ahead of me but the wait wasn't long and everyone seemed satisfied with the service. I know I was and I plan to go back in a few months. read more
