From the point of view of a potential buyer at an estate sale run by this company...
A MCM lamp was unmarked. The lamp itself was "atomic" but not too special in terms of material or maker, but the shade was interesting. I asked the price and was told $60. I paid. The woman who took the money then said she had to ask the fellow running the sale, Philip, I presume. She handed the money back to me, and he said the lamp should be "hundreds" (no way).
There are unwritten rules for sales. If a price is quoted, that's the price. A seller has ample opportunity to mark an item or otherwise indicate whatever price is sought. If money changes hands, the deal is done. I took my money back, because I prefer not to be argumentative. But, as most items were unmarked, I decided to leave, rather than have to ask each item, then have a high price for each relayed back to me. It left a bad taste. read more
