Got the chance to rent and ride their full suspension electric Norco Sight VLT mountain bike and it crushed it both up and down Carvins Cove, went up and over the mountain 3 times when I'd normally be tapped out after one time. Stopped by Downshift on a cross country bike trip. I was dehydrated, hungry and in need of bike maintenance. Needless to say, all three needs were satisfied. Also, I have a fairly high B.S. detector for bike maintenance... I had stopped at another bike shop earlier, and left since they were trying to over-sell me on a bunch of maintenance I didn't need. The staff here was VERY knowledgeable (and very quick). I got what my bike needed in 15 minutes. Would strongly recommend their maintenance. Also, had a filling Fresh Bowl and some much needed coffee. All surprsingly high quality (I was surprised because I thought that the focus of the shop would be bike maintenance... Best bike shop around, hands down. In the past, I've dreaded going to bike shops. The culture can be pretentious and judgmental if you're not an expert but Downshift completely revolutionizes the bike shop culture. For starters, the shop is just cool. It's an inviting, open space with lots of places to sit and sip on delectable coffee (highly recommend the peanut butter coffee), or a great beer or have some delicious food while the bike mechanics work their magic. Everyone that works there is so nice that you want to stay and hang out. They also have a cute rooftop patio where you can bring your beer/coffee/food and enjoy the surrounding views. Downshift also offers group rides each week and really want people to learn about biking! They make it so friendly and inviting! Can't get enough of this place. read more

Got to finally check this place out last week. Their breakfast bowl was KILLER. Enough to share with two people even. Very welcoming environment. The bikes were beautiful, and any questions you had were answered quickly and knowledgeably. Perfect spot for studying too because they have multiple seating areas to nestle into and stay a while.
