What a great lunch at the Downshift Brewing. This was our first time visiting Downshift a brewing and I am sure glad we did. The entire staff was very accommodating and helpful but I have to say a special thanks to Tom. Not only did he offer exceptional customer service but was a wealth of knowledge of things to go and see locally. The Pizza was outstanding and the beers were too. What more could you ask for. We had a great lunch here a few months ago and enjoyed the weather on the upper patio. Service was quite slow in checking back with us so we had to keep getting up to find someone to refill our drinks. Even going up to the counters we waited a bit because no one noticed us. The place was not that busy at the time we were there. A few weeks ago, a friend and I went for coffee. We were both disappointed to get our coffee and find it barely warm. We returned to the counter to ask for hot coffee but no one came to the front to help us so we left our full cups on the counter and left to get coffee down the street. We loved when Sacred Grounds was there and were hoping for the same service, coffee and pastries (fresh & better selection) but were disappointed that it now is not. We will give them another chance though and see if it's any better for coffee/pastries. read more

I'll start by saying the service was really good - she was very nice and helpful with menu selections! The inside was completely empty, and had a scent of raw sewage unfortunately so we went outside. The food took around twenty five minutes to come out. I'd describe the food as ballpark food. It wasn't good, the pizza borderlined on bad which is a difficult feat, and what you see pictured (salad with a scant amount of grilled chicken, one pizza, a pretzel, and a sandwich) was fifty bucks. Wonderful place to hang out with friends or family or even on a date. This place not only offers good pizza, cream sodas, and great beer but it also has a very relaxing and chill atmosphere. There's plenty of sitting indoors and out. They are pet friendly but they do have designated areas for that. This place has live music and theater performances so follow them on Facebook or check out their webpage for current events. It's one of my favorite places to relax at and have a beer when I decide to leave my home in Cloudcroft and visit Ruidoso. They have a pumpkin beer that was absolutely perfect, not overwhelming, the flavor was just right. I think it's called Little Boo or something like that. A quick walk from our camp ground and a great place for a late lunch! We sat on the patio overlooking the river and watched two elk grazing below. We tried two of the IPAs, Apex and Snowday. Both were delicious, perfectly hoppy, ice cold and refreshing. We also had the Porky pizza which was fantastic! We loved the spiciness of the jalapeños, the thin, crispy crust and the thick layer of cheese with all of the pork. The service was outstanding and the prices were excellent! Previously 3.5 Yelp star Sacred Grounds that received 330 reviews before closing after May 2023. I rated SG a generous 5 Stars. Why? PAW approved. Not so much now. There's a BIG Sign alerting dog owners that they may only sit Below Deck, which means staggering down several flights of stairs after self-serving your own orders. It also means not hearing the entertainment. It also means enjoying all the ambiance of an unfinished basement. 3 Strikes. I ordered a +6% ABV Irish Stout and was served half pint. Why? Did the bartender think it was a 11 ABV Imperial Stout? To avoid further confusion I switched to a red amber brew served WARM, but in a pint? No prices listed: Strike 3. Food was a huge improvement: Cook is efficient and attentive to gastronomic details! Great job from the kitchen with giant servings of fried avocado and artichoke dip. Food was good. Gets very busy but food doesn't take too long. Only reason for the 3 stars is they over charged from what the menu states. I got a cheese pizza that shows $16 and i was charged $17.35 on my receipt. We also got a Caesar salad that shows $12 and got charged $13.01. I used my debit card, not a credit card. The service was impeccable, and we went through quite a few folks going back and forth to the counter to get more food and drinks! The building is big with lots of indoor and outdoor pet friendly seating. It's right after the horrible wildfires so the menu was limited. Yet, everyone was friendly. Vegans and Vegetarians rejoice!!! There IS quality vegan food in Ruidoso! They have been my saving grace while in town and I am committed to making it through their vegan menu. So far I've had the Tofu Bahn Mi and the grain bowel with Tofu. The grain bowl had all the right notes and textures. The Tofu was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The quinoa was tender and the veggies were fresh. The mushrooms were the perfect amount of funk. As for the tofu Bahn Mi, it rivals my favorite Vietnamese place. Such soft bread with generous cilantro and peppers. The tofu was well seasoned and just melted in my mouth. They have some fun cocktails and of course beer! They serve only NM spirits so no Bombay here which is how it should be! Great way to support and showcase your regional bounty. We are visiting during the terrible historic floods and on our first visit, a flash flood threatened so they closed the river front patio where we were sitting with our dogs. They all accommodated us by allowing us to move inside with out Blueys. That is unheard of and we were so so thankful! Great job loving the people who love animals!!! We ordered the chicken bites with chipotle bbq sauce, smoked wings with garlic parm, fries, a village people pilsner and a blueberry lemon drop. Ok so this review is split! We were here earlier this week and had pizza and drinks and were happy with everything including the service on a busy afternoon. We decided to come back for breakfast bc of the picture of the posole on facebook. When we ordered it was not busy. I ordered posole and the guy said they were out. I then asked what the quiche of the day was and the girl taking our order didn't know. The guy she asked didn't know either and after waiting a few minutes I changed my order. We ordered two cappuccinos and when my husband asked for chocolate to be added, he over heard the guy say "do they think this is Starbucks." Um no. We chose to "shop small" and your being rude and don't have two items on your breakfast menu at 8:30am. So yeah... Our food sat in the window at least 5 minutes before it was served to us. There was only one person ordering in front of us. So all that to say maybe skip breakfast?! Or maybe they will train their morning employees on politeness and their menu. We usually start our weekends out at the brewery in Lincoln but last call was 530pm there....so... we ended up here at Downshift. First time here, before it was the coffee house. A worker at the cash register took our order. My wife doesn't care for beer so she asked what non beer beverages they had. She read off coffees soda and water. Luckily I noticed they had margaritas so she got that. After turning the tablet around for her tip, we had to go to another area to wait for the margarita. Not sure what prevents someone else from getting your drink if you sat down, so we waited for the drink. The band was great (1/17) and crowd lively so we liked that. It was a major turn off that as people left the tables no one was cleaning them up. This left numerous tables needing attn with folks gross scraps on the table. Overall ok time but for the prices and lack of personal attn, I don't think I'll go back read more
