I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience with Dr. James Song at Frontier Dermatology was…read moreserious enough that I feel obligated to share it so other patients can make informed decisions. My husband underwent an outpatient cyst removal procedure with Dr. Song on May 19, 2026. We were told the procedure went as planned and were given standard aftercare instructions, including avoiding showers and exercise for 24 hours and applying Vaseline afterward. The following day, less than 24 hours after the procedure, my husband began bleeding heavily through layers of gauze, bandages, and eventually his clothing. We contacted Frontier Dermatology and were instructed to have him lie down and apply pressure. We followed those instructions exactly, but the bleeding continued and worsened. When we called the after-hours physician, we repeatedly sought guidance about whether we should go to the ER. Despite explaining the situation in detail, we were unable to get a clear answer. We were told we would "probably end up at the ER" but were also told that no one could definitively recommend that course of action without seeing him. We first went to urgent care, where the physician was uncomfortable treating the wounds because of their depth and complexity. After attempts to stop the bleeding failed, we were sent directly to the emergency room. At the ER, the physician treated the wounds with silver nitrate to stop the bleeding after hours of unsuccessful attempts elsewhere. We did not return home until approximately 1:00 a.m. The next day, I filed a formal complaint with Frontier Dermatology regarding both the procedure and the lack of adequate after-hours support. During that conversation, I learned my husband had no follow-up appointment scheduled for two months. Shortly afterward, Dr. Song personally called my husband and defended the treatment decisions that had been made. Because we were concerned by everything that had happened, my husband sought a second opinion from another dermatologist. That dermatologist informed him that the wounds were infected and required antibiotics and additional treatment. We were also told that corrective care would now be necessary to reduce the likelihood of significant scarring. During follow-up communication, we learned that no pathology report had been performed on the tissue removed during the procedure. What should have been a routine outpatient procedure resulted in severe bleeding, an urgent care visit, an ER visit, an infection, additional medical treatment, missed time, stress, and ongoing concerns about long-term scarring. We understand that complications can happen in medicine. What troubled us most was the combination of the outcome itself, the difficulty obtaining clear guidance when things went wrong, and the need to seek care elsewhere to address the resulting complications. I hope sharing our experience helps other patients ask questions, seek second opinions when necessary, and make informed decisions about their care.

Prior to that, I'd seen a Naturopath who recommended 4 weeks of antibiotics and a heavy protocol targeting gut bacteria, parasites, E. coli, and H. pylori. Everything in my intuition said no I didn't want to fight my body. Thankfully, a friend recommended Dr. Ray, who had been getting real relief for her chronic autoimmune issues through his care. From the moment I sat with him, I felt safe. He assured me with grounded confidence that healing was possible without attacking my system. Instead of waging war on my body, Dr. Ray helped me cultivate a relationship with it. His deep knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine, his explanations, and the reverence he brings to the healing process are profound. He didn't speak at me he invited me into partnership of healing. I now understand my organs and energy systems in a way I never have before. I've learned to support my body with trust, not fear. To tune into my cells. And to embrace my Yin energy--so long neglected--in a whole new way. I'm incredibly grateful for Dr. Ray and highly recommend him to anyone ready to work with their body, not against it. True healing is possible, and this path feels like home.

If your child has ASD, do not bring them here. Not only have I noticed weird looks while waiting in…read morethe lobby by some of the nurses.. but yesterday I took my daughter in to check on something, and it required a urine sample. My daughter is 5 and not fully potty trained, some basic research would tell you that this is very typical behavior in children with ASD, especially of her level. I say this because: Looks I can ignore, but one of the nurses had the audacity to walk into the room and say "A little old mom".. those exact words. With FULL confidence and little attitude. I immediately was shocked and when they came back to the room, I (as politely as I could) said I was going to take my daughter somewhere else and that it is extremely unprofessional (and rude!) to say something like that. She then tried to say "I'm sorry you feel that way" to which I said "no, you took a direct jab at me and that's not right. Especially as a nurse." I explained that my daughter is learning at her pace, her father and I ask/offer every single day (with much praise) to have her use the toilet, but we aren't going to force her.. that's more psychologically damaging than what we are currently doing. She did try to come and apologize as I was complaining to the front office, but the damage was done. I did my best to not raise my voice and even ended on a "I hope you have a good day" to everyone, like I did every single time I came in before that.. It was a younger pregnant lady, but she is well old enough to know better. So take that as you will, I HIGHLY do NOT recommend this pediatricians office to anyone, especially children on the spectrum. Thank you for reading.

The Handshake Says It All: Unbiased Review of Racial Microaggressions in Healthcare…read more Let me be crystal clear about my experience with Preston Lehr, PA and this dermatology practice: it was unacceptable. As a Black woman, I was subjected to treatment that exemplifies the medical disparities POC face daily in healthcare settings. On my first visit to discuss the removal of skin tags and to have PA Lehr examine my ruptured cyst, his behavior immediately made me uncomfortable. He greeted me with an exaggerated, stereotypical handshake that felt forced and inappropriate--something I guarantee he doesn't do with his white patients in Edmonds. During this visit, he prescribed a powerful antibiotic for my ruptured cyst without mentioning it needed to be taken with food. This potentially dangerous oversight was only caught by my pharmacist, not the doctor who prescribed it. When I returned for my second visit to have the skin tags removed, PA Lehr greeted me with the same uncomfortable handshake. When I asked if the procedure would hurt, his dismissive response that "it's not going to hurt him" was both condescending and unprofessional. I had to specifically ask about aftercare instructions myself--information that should be provided automatically. For my third visit to address the now-calmed cyst, PA Lehr once again greeted me with the same inappropriate handshake. I couldn't help but think: would a 50-year-old white woman, man or non-binary person be treated this way? Absolutely not. During the procedure, he provided minimal explanation and zero aftercare guidance. Only the support staff stepped in to give me the proper information I needed. The support staff was competent, but they can't compensate for a doctor who treats patients differently based on how they look. This is medical racism, plain and simple--not jokes, not lightheartedness, but the exact kind of differential treatment that research consistently shows undermines care for communities of color. I'm giving two stars solely because: 1) The procedures were technically completed and 2) The support staff provided information the PA should have given. I will never return to this practice and strongly advise against it for anyone--ESPECIALLY people of color who deserve healthcare providers who see and respect them as human beings deserving equal care and dignity.
