    Parking by the pickleball courts.
    Ingrid B.

This park had to be recently renovated. They have pickleball courts behind the basketball field. It's a really nice place with ample parking, several courts, and a big blue shaded area; if you're waiting around for a turn to use courts. It gets busy on the weekends so go early.

A great neighborhood park that proves that you do not need a lot of space to create a great park for a community. Downey Park has a children's playground, a pavilion, a volleyball court, bathrooms, and a relatively decent amount of open area where you can just chill. There is also a lake at the back to give you some decent water views. All in all a great place for a respite.

Downey Park is a very large park in east Orlando! Here's a rundown of some of what they have: - two playgrounds - splash pad - dog park - skate park, basketball and volleyball courts - bathrooms with changing tables My son and I visited with some friends most recently for the splash pad and playground. Loved the size of the splash pad and the fact that there was seating and covered areas for adults to sit. It is all fenced in as well. It costs $2 per child during the summer season so bring cash. We went to the playground towards the back of the park. The playground and swings had no shade and was hot but the kids enjoyed it just the same. The women's restroom was not clean on the day we visited but they do have changing tables for babies. All in all, Downey Park is a park I would come back to for the splash pad!

I like going to this park with my daughter, I love that they have the free splash pad, a few years ago wasn't free, but now it's, so that's a a plus, and I like that it has plenty of places to have picnics, and a dog park. I enjoy it and have a great time every time we go, it has been clean when it comes to the bathrooms and the place itself.

I can't believe that Downey Park has such a low rating on Yelp. The park is huge and loaded with everything that a family would want. Volleyball, Baseball, large splash pad, two playgrounds, workout area, pavilions, grills, picnic tables and lots of open green space and parking. There is also a beautiful dock that allows you to walk out into the lake and enjoy the view. I saw plenty of trash cans and benches throughout the park. It is well maintained and has two restroom areas. You can rent out the pavilions for parties and family gatherings. The splash pad was closed when I visited but I noticed lots of lounge chairs and plenty of room for comfortable supervision.

The splash pad was awesome! I enjoyed every moment with my three yr old Grandson! I will be back again!

Very nice park to bring your dogs, grill out or bring your kids to the water play area! The dock is also very scenic to see, i personally love taking my dogs here and it has shade! if you live in the orlando area, check it out! i didn't even post the prettiest part either enjoy!

While this is a very popular dog park, my star rating doesn't really have anything to do with that since I don't have a dog. I enjoy working out in parks; specifically I enjoy doing calisthenics in the park. So when I visit Orlando, this is one of my favorite parks to do that. My friend lives about 10 minutes away. You can do muscle-ups and/or pull-ups on the monkey bars. You can do L-holds, hand-stands and any other cool calisthenics tricks on the parallel bars. The only drawback is that all this equipment is in the sand so I wouldn't wear your best shoes to workout. You can get a great workout here. I'd say it's 3.5-4 stars. There are lots of families and kids playing everywhere as this is a very big park. There's a basketball court too if shooting hoops is what you'd prefer. I recorded a video of my workout there. Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcxAVxGxoek

There's a splash pad, but it was closed for bathroom repairs. The rest of the play area is pretty standard compared to the other parks.

The stump remains. There used to be an incredible piece of art carved into the tree. There are still other great trees remaining though. Lots of trees. One time I went there on a cool autumn morning and I thought I had passed into dog HEAVEN!!! The fancy dog rescue groups met up and there were tons of incredible dog breeds, especially the ones that look like big fluffy mops. I've been here numerous times, & this park means a lot to me. I have incredible memories. *Beware of the lake, there might be alligators. (I used to enjoy watching the sailboat lessons.) *Best if you wear boots. Last time I ended up with a bunch of dirt in my shoes. *I've only seen 2 dog fights. Stay close to your dog. *Once, I saw what appeared to be coyote fur on a fence, there might be one around there sometimes. The walking trails in the woods/forest part is really fun. A guy used to play his guitar in a center area. I like walking my dogs through the woods there. Sad when I see my dogs years later unable to walk like they previously could, or disoriented, lost in there. We sure did enjoy that park extensively. Bring dog shampoo & a towel if you want, the dog shower bench is free.

However, the majority of us are not "allowed" here and it is dangerous. Let me explain. The first Saturday morning I went I fell in love immediately and met some nice people and dogs. Unfortunately, I have never had that experience again, and I now realize this was an anomaly. There is a group of locals who "own" the spot, mostly mid-40's to mid-60's men. They are not friendly or welcoming and their dogs are aggressive, clearly feeding off of the "subtle" vibes of their owners. The vibe with the dogs is more overt: no one else allowed here. The dogs will bark menacingly and chase off other dogs and constantly have their hackles up. The first time I encountered the group was on a Sunday, so I thought, "Okay, I'll just stick with Saturdays at this place." But the next Saturday they were there, too. Really bad vibes, had to leave quickly. I stayed away from visiting for a while, but I have to re-state that this is such a great dog park! So today, I wanted to try again, and I figured maybe a weekday morning at 7:00am would be safe. Nope! The crew was there like they live there. I was so upset but let my dog at least run the full fenced in area and go potty. Several dogs had already threatened him, hackles all up, the crew not saying a word to me as I walked past to bag my dog's poop. We left as quickly as we could (it's a BIG place), and two of "the crew" were also leaving with their three dogs. My own dog is a sweet Labradoodle; you know, one of those kind souls who is always smiling and who loves everyone and every dog? Well, as we were trying to exit, the pack of three dogs attacked my dog. The owner quickly called them off, but mine ran to me (he's 90 lbs) and was clearly afraid. I comforted him and we waited for the group to leave first. My dog seemed fine, and unhurt. However, I later found drips of blood on the back door of my car, once I realized that his ear was wounded at home. I am so furious. This is ridiculous. This public park does NOT belong to these horrible people and their violent dogs. I wish law enforcement would intervene, but I doubt it. I would not recommend visiting this park, although it is absolutely beautiful. It's a shame that people suck, train their dogs to suck, and ruin a lovely thing for others who have every right to enjoy it. My tax dollars, which are substantial, pay for this park, too. It makes me so angry that I will never be able to go back.
