Anyone moving in Victoria? Here is my experience with Dowell's Moving & Storage. They showed up Monday to my place to assess. This person was friendly and went through the house and said, "Looks good! The boxer will be here soon!" The boxer showed up at around 11-11:30, boxed up the kitchen and freezer room, which took him until about 2:30. At this time, he stated he was done for the day because his back was sore...and he is working for Dowell's Moving & Storage off the books because he had a back injury about 5 years ago and is currently on WCB benefits. Due to a class on Tuesday morning, I could not be there to oversee the packing and move the next day for the A.M. The boxer said, "No problem! I'll be in a rush tomorrow morning (Tuesday) so everything upstairs will be put in boxes then loaded on the truck." I said, "Sure sounds good! You box it up and I'll sort it out on the other side. I'll leave the key under the mat for you, and my oldest daughter will be waiting at the new place for the truck." He was more than happy with this arrangement as he drank an airplane bottle of Asolute Vodka in my kitchen while waiting for his ride to pick him up. The next morning while in class (and NOT able to answer my phone out of respect for the instructor) the movers showed up. They contacted the people who set up the move and refused to box anything else up because I was not there. They went into the residence, put my beds, dressers and thing they had boxed the day before on the truck, dumped out the dressers and drawers on the floors, then called the place who contracted them and made disgusting claims that my residence was "unsanitary", and there were "cloths on the floor with used condoms throughout them." THIS IS NOT HOW I LIVE NOW OR EVER. I rushed over to the house after class when I was informed of this and showed up there at 12:05 P.M and they had just left. Then they claimed they went to the new residence and there was no one there to receive the delivery. My oldest daughter (20) was there and waiting the entire day. Wednesday, they showed up at the new residence where my daughter was waiting, unloaded the truck and was rude to my daughter when she asked about some of her stuff that wasn't there. One comment made was, "It must have hopped on a truck going to a different place." I have also notice a bottle of Triple sec that was only about a quarter full at the old residence was mysteriously emptied, and the coins i have collected from around the world is gone....the box that contained them was thrown on my bedroom floor, my oldest daughters BIG stuffed animal (worth about $80) is gone. I have not finished opening the boxes to see what else has mysteriously vanished yet. This company was sub=contracted by Atlas moving. ANYONE moving stay away from this company. They have WCB fraudsters working there, they will steal your alcohol and other valuables, and they are extremely rude. read more
