We have used this company three times. We were satisfied the first two times but this team (three guys) that showed up were S-L-O-W and untrained. The driver stayed on the truck (arranging things). They charge by the hour. Things got damaged. The move one year ago cost 1,800.00 and one year later they charged 3,200.00. They offed me 21$ compensation for the night stand that was destroyed. The truck was very late, arriving at 8pm at night, and was much smaller than they said. It was too full to take all our stuff. They were therefore only able to take half our stuff. The driver was worried about being overweight for his insurance, so said he wouldn't stop at the scale. Our stuff was never weighed. The receipt shown had no location or date. It wasn't our fault the truck didn't have enough space. We were the last pick up and the other people had more stuff than they expected, plus they sent a smaller truck, but we were chargecharged twice for all the extra surcharge fees (fuel, ferry, hotel, etc). They couldn't get a second truck to us in time, so they charged us to pick up and transfer the second half of our stuff. They quoted $400 but charged us $800. Our belongings were then loaded onto another truck to travel to BC. This truck broke down, so the second half of our belongings were transferred a third time to yet another truck. No inventory was taken, nothing was tagged, in a truck with other people's stuff. We're missing two big bags of clothes (literally all of the clothes I owned, thousands of dollars worth) and we ended up with someone else's camping gear. Many pieces of furniture were damaged, including a large antique cabinet whose leg was broken off and badly repaired by them. It was left upside down in our storage locker due to the damage. Our 65" TV was falling out of the box they had packaged it in using one piece of tape. They told my senior mother who was helping us that they charged $400 extra because they didn't like her. In all, the move that was quoted for $3000-$4000 cost closer to $7000. We paid for their mistakes. Total scam. These guys need to be held accountable. DON"T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID. read more

This is the worst moving company you could possibly hire. Showed up late. Forgot possessions, damaged the possessions they did remember. Movers loading the truck were obviously under the influence and movers unloading the truck moved at a snails pace. After six hours of watching them unload the truck, I ended up moving the entirety of the boxed items into the house. They misplaced hardware for multiple items they dismantled and had no issues blaming myself for their faults. When dealing with the claims manager they offered a measly 6% of the cost of the damage (which I accepted by the way because I would rather eat a box full of nails then speak to anyone at this company ever again). Told me countless times a manager would be calling me and never did. I can see why this company was sued over 54 times in 2022 alone. Not one individual I dealt with within this company possessed a single customer facing attribute. They only moved the bigger items from my old house to my completely new build home and the damaged both properties as well as broke my daughters brand new dresser and a brand new electric pireplace. When I called to make a claim, I was told they wouldn't cover breaking the new dresser or the fire place. 1500$ loss... They won't replace the brand new hard wood stairs they damaged prob 3000$ damage. Now I'm having to fight them to fix the dings in the walls and for the big scratch on the brand new fridge. None of their disclosure was discussed with me when I called to book with them or I wouldn't have gone with them. Absolutely horrible company. Do not use these guys. They "lost" some of my stuff. I hired them for a move from Alberta to BC. Packing went ok. However, in BC it took me a while to unpack everything and when I was done I noticed that there were several boxes missing. I contacted them about the missing boxes and they said they didn't have them and offered no explanation on why they did not get delivered to my new house. Missing items included some irreplaceable sentimental items. I am disgusted by their so-called service. If your ideal move is to chase your movers for a delivery date because no one knows where your stuff went; play phone tag for 3 days with multiple employees who pass you off as someone else's problem; finally secure a delivery date, but have things arrive damaged and broken; get charged DOUBLE what they originally quoted; find out they lost some of your items, and when you notify them, they give you a "We'll look for it"; then proceed to chase them down for a month, only to have them tell you they can't find it and will give you $16.80 for your lost items (which was actually around $800 worth) - then this dishonest, hell-hole moving company is for you. These guys don't care. Their customer service is pathetic. Their lack of communication between cities is a joke. The incompetence of the staff is laughable. They can't even accomplish the most basic task of a moving company: deliver your client's stuff from point A to point B. To say they are unreliable is being generous. You think you're getting a reasonable quote when you first call. (It's a trap!) Be prepared to pay double what you were quoted. We submitted a claim for our broken and damaged items and have yet to hear back about compensation. They say they "charge by weight" but never show proof of weight. I strongly advise that you do not use this company. We hired them to move our stuff from coastal BC to Calgary. They quoted us an approximate one-week delivery time. After they picked up our stuff, I had to call them at least four times to get any kind of update/timeline. Finally, they told me that our stuff would be delayed by a week, and essentially blamed *us* for the delay because we had a relatively small number of boxes - even though they knew this when we first got a quote from them. After two weeks, they eventually delivered our stuff. Delays happen, but I don't understand why they didn't just proactively communicate this in a respectful way. Here is the big issue: They make you pay for the delivery and sign a document stating that everything arrived in "good condition" before you even have a chance to look over the stuff. I guess more fool me for not reading the fine print, but this is sketchy practice on their part. They brought in our credenza, which was badly damaged in multiple places, including a chunk ripped out of the side (side note: no other items, including fragile objects, were broken, so they clearly dropped the credenza at some point). When I told one of the guys this, he shrugged his shoulders, and walked away. Not even an "oh, sorry about that." I then approached the driver asking if we could please amend the paperwork, because the stuff had not, in fact, arrived in "good condition." He became very defensive, snatched the paper out of my hand, told me to email the company to make a claim, and refused to amend the paperwork. He then said that we wouldn't receive compensation because the credenza is, and I'm quoting directly here, "not real furniture." He got in his truck and drove away. I understand that stuff breaks during moves. But the level of disrespect they showed here was totally unacceptable. And this followed two weeks of poor communication and delays. Once belongings were being unpacked in Edmonton, the driver called his supervisor to advise not going to finish unpack my belongings. While he mad e this call he called me a C--T and my 7 year old granddaughter was standing beside the door, came running to her Mom and me to tell that the man said a very bad word. We had 2-Burley Men move us from Surrey to Creston. We had a very good experience with this company. James and Tanner went above and beyond to get the job done, including going through white out conditions on the Kootenay Pass. They got our belongings to us with no damage at all and worked into the evening to get everything unloaded. We were amazed at the care and attention these two guys took to ensure our furniture was protected and they communicated very well with us about arrival times. I would give 0 stars if possible. A Facebook post went viral of a customer who used this service and had 10k worth of belongings "lost". This company tried to compensate ONLY $42 for the damages and items that were stolen. Highly unprofessional, and should not be in business. We had hoped it would help reduce the stress that comes with moving. But nope it was so so so bad. First they told us they would be at our home between 9 and 10 am. They then called in the morning and said between 10 and 11. By 11:15 I called wondering when they would be arriving and they said they were "on the way" finally they show up at 1:45pm. Prince George is an 8 hour drive away. We have two kids that we had to keep entertained while waiting for the movers. It also pushed our driving schedule so much later. The movers start moving things into the truck finally. My husband has some donations he has to drop off so he leaves. As soon as he leaves they stop moving things. They sit in their truck making phone calls and joking around the entire time he's gone. Finally he comes back and asks them to start moving things again. We need to get on the road with our kids so we agree to leave them to finish loading the truck. We remind them of a few things they need to bring. Including our pellet guns and the TV wall mount. According to our neighbors they sat around listening to music, having a beers and pizza and didn't leave until 11:30pm. Because of our late start we didn't arrive in Prince George until 3:30 am. 2 days later they come to move our furniture into our new place. Every box was marked with which room in was supposed to go in. They said they would put the boxes and furniture in the correct rooms to make unpacking easier. But they didn't. Our new place was an absolute shit show. Almost nothing was is the correct spot. Then we get pictures from our move out cleaner back in Port Coquitlam. They didn't bring our basically brand new childrens wagon. They left our pellet guns. And they only removed the TV and left the wall mount even though they specifically said they would bring it. This resulted in us having to buy a buy a new one because half a wall mount is useless. The movers cost over $4000 and refused to replace the missing items because apparently they aren't responsible for lost of missing items. I'm throughly dissatisfied and disappointed. What was supposed to reduce our stress actually ended up making it more stressful. I would not recommend this moving company ever. I hired 2 Burley Men for a very small job - to move a hide-a-bed sofa from one location to another, 15 minutes apart. I knew it would be a tough job and would need professional movers because of the weight of the sofa, the angles in my hallway and that the bedroom doorway was 29" wide as was the sofa. So when the 2 Burley Movers  - 3 men - couldn't get the sofa into the room I was disappointed and only a little surprised. I was surprised by the fact they didn't mask up when they came into my house. So fine, my new sofa is sitting outside while I decide what to do with it but just by luck I had Lazy Boy dropping off a chair and their 2 men were able to move the sofa into the bedroom. When I asked the Lazy Boy employees (professional furniture movers) if they thought the 2 Burley men (professional furniture movers) should have been able to do the job, they definitely thought they should have been capable of it. I asked for my money back from 2 Burley men - $173 - which I wouldn't have done if they'd just been two guys with a truck from a Craigslist ad, but given 2 Burley Men certainly charge like professional movers I thought it was ridiculous that they didn't think they owed me a refund. Hi Cheryl, I am shocked at your company's behavior. You mentioning more than once, "I bet you don't have a written quote". I have a witness when your employee provided a quote of $1000 to $1500. Never was there a mention of the costs going beyond the $1500 quote. He also explained the truck would be going back to the Victoria headquarters after dropping the oven off, not back to Vancouver. I am baffled to see two ferry trips being charged at a staggering 568 dollars. Additionally, the entire move was so poorly planned. Your dispatch was not even aware of the current ferry schedule for May, I provided them with that information the day of the move. Prior to booking with 2 Burley Men, I explored a number of quotes and 2 Burley Men came in on what I thought was affordable at $1500 at the higher side of the quote. I don't have any additional funds to cover this substantial margin of error of $882.48. Because of the vagueness of his quote, the eventual figure being 37% above the original quote, it is my view the estimator should be held to that original figure. The estimator is baiting potential customers with low estimates and switching the end figure with hidden costs such as additional ferry costs (not communicated) and added travel time. This is fraud where a business offers low quotes on a price for a service attempting to draw the customer into choosing them. I am a local business owner in Victoria and I am absolutely appalled by these sleazy business tactics. The fact that you asked me again and again if we have a written quote is only evidence that you are conducting a bait and switch scheme. I am not happy with this. When I asked for compensation, the owner sent two scary looking guys to my place and they told me to 'use duct tape'. If I could give a negative star rate I would. They treated my belongs like trash. The one thing I pleaded with them to take care of was my mothers rocker, the only piece of furniture I have from her, God rest her soul. I found in the back of the storage with all my patio furniture piled on it. Needless to say it was heartbreaking to see the damage done to it alone. I had boxes all the same size just thrown into the storage unit, nothing stacked. The soft top to my jeep rolled up and the heaviest things stacked on it. Again something i asked to please keep flat... Then when it came time to pay damages the person in charge of claims was the most desensitized induvial I have ever encountered. They will pay you pennies if you are lucky for things that are well worth more! I do not recommend this company to anyone!!! read more

They showed up late. The cost of the move was 120% higher than the quote One the two guys they sent spent most of the day on his cellphone moving a single box at a time. He also had to 'get out of there to go to his girlfriends birthday party.' They brought single 4 wheel dolly, I provided the other two and they lost one of them on a second stop - we had to recover it. I personally worked harder than one of the guys they sent. While I understand that moving isn't a gentle process and things happen, this whole experience with this company has been completely unsatisfactory. The cost of moving back to Edmonton was 500$ more with 2 Burley Men than the company I used to move to Kamloops originally; and I have stuff missing and broken as a result. When the two men arrived in Kamloops, they were unable to get close access to my residence as a result of my steep driveway. Knowing that they would be moving all my contents down the driveway, I provided assistance and worked alongside them for over 90 minutes moving what I could myself down into the truck. During this time, one of the employees was making inappropriate comments to me stating that I was "much cuter than his swamper". He also proceeded to state that he was planning on moving from Calgary to Edmonton, because he "can't stand all the brown people in Calgary". As a young female living alone, this interaction left me feeling uncomfortable in my own space and his comments were extremely unprofessional. I also requested assistance taping up one of my totes as it was cracked and the handle would rip off when picked up. The men ensured me that they would secure it for me for safe transport. This is the tote that never arrived. I can only assume that they never taped it and it ripped open when they tried to pick it up. Instead of dealing with this professionally, it was easier for them to just throw it all out. Getting my items delivered in Edmonton was also not a smooth process. I received a text from the employee on the September 28th stating that he was in the hospital dealing with an infection and would be at my new residence on the 30th. I waited around all day of the 30th; when I contacted them at 2pm, they informed me that they were still 2 hours away and had another job to complete. We agreed to postpone the move to the next morning. I received another text from the employee at 9:50am on October 1st stating that the battery to his truck had been stolen and that he was not sure when he'd be able to make it to my place that day. I, again, waited another full day and they arrived at 4pm. I ensured my mom was present to make me more comfortable incase he decided to make more comments towards me. My glass tv stand was smashed, broken fan, and a tote full of decor items was missing. The claims department informed me that glass items aren't covered under their protection plan and the movers confirmed that no other totes were left in the truck. I was offered a 21$ compensation for all this. Do not use. This whole experience has been such a headache. I get human error and the risks of moving, but the company has provided no reasonable resolution to any of the complaints I brought to them. Everything has been completely brushed off. read more

They have signs at the airport, on the highway to the ferry from Victoria, on the highway as soon as you reach the mainland, on #1 just west of Calgary--and as movers they are useless. Their so-called moving vans are junk. Their movers haven't got a clue how to handle good furniture. I am not exaggerating when I say that EVERY piece of my wooden furniture was damaged on our move from Calgary to Victoria when it was crammed into a small, beat up truck. I watched the one mover actually drop my dining room table top as he tried to roll it, by himself on a cart and it upsets me every time I dust it and see the horrid gash. I want to say firstly that the movers Lamont and Tristan were awesome and did an amazing job. However, that ended when he gave me the final bill of $2900. I was quoted $2000-$2500 for the move. I wouldn't expect the final bill to go much higher than $2500 considering the actual moving of furniture and items only took an hour at each end. I find it a little odd that a ferry reservation wasn't booked in advance considering we had confirmed the moved over a week ago. To then see ferry charges of $579.24 made me look into the fares. The most expensive fare for their size moving truck with 2 adults, and no discount is $159.15 each way. So a return trip would cost $318.30. We've been charged almost $260 more than we should have. That doesn't sit well with me as I also tipped both guys. I understand this was a long distance move but the original price quoted reflected that. To be in for almost $3000 doesn't make sense. I guess I should have done a bit more research on your company. There's a very obvious pattern of under estimating and highly overcharging. And in every case the owners response is "Sorry to hear that your experience was not a good one." You do nothing to make it right and obviously could care less about customer service and retention. Two of the most important things in business but I guess you guys could care less and it shows in your reviews all over the web. I'd be embarrassed about that but you guys can obviously sleep at night. I sure hope you treat your employees better than you treat your customers because Lamont and Tristan are all stars, unlike yourself. This was my 2nd time using 2 Burley Men for a long haul move and it's safe to say that it will be the last time! While they were fine the first time around (2 years ago), any credibility that they earned during that first move has disappeared 10 times over. Like many of the other reviewers, I'd give 0 stars if I could. My fiancé and I used 2 Burley Men to move from Alberta to BC. I booked the move over a month in advance and Earl (the long haul coordinator) and I agreed on a 2-day window for pickup, which was to be a Monday or Tuesday. With this in mind, we booked cleaners to come for the Wednesday morning, and planned our move out inspection and travel from AB to BC accordingly. Despite calling the Friday before, we didn't receive any communication about when specifically our pickup would occur until Monday around noon, when we were told it would be 'Tuesday around suppertime'. While it was a bit annoying that it would be almost as late as possible on our 2nd day, it was fine. That's where 'fine' ended and the headache began. We didn't hear anything from our movers throughout the day on Tuesday, and finally had to reach out at 6PM (via text - the only method of communication we had) to ask when they would be coming. It was then that we were told that they wouldn't be coming that night at all, it would be the following day. But despite texting back immediately and calling several times, we didn't hear back from the mover with a timeframe for pickup until 1:15AM! Of course, this made it impossible to reschedule the cleaners, and completely threw off our travel plans too. What followed was a saga of poor - or more accurately, non-existent - communication that's really too long to detail here. The short version is, we were told that we'd get a call with an updated delivery estimate once our items left Alberta, but we never did. The call we did get was at 8PM on Friday night saying delivery would happen the next morning - something we couldn't accommodate due to our strata restrictions, but could have had we been properly informed. Again, had we been given the updated delivery estimate as promised, we could have accommodated this delivery, but we assumed that our stuff was still in Alberta so we hadn't booked the elevator for the weekend. The worst part of this whole experience had to be when I had to speak with the owner, Scott Burley. Ladies - a tip: do your best to avoid talking to this man; he is rude and condescending and man-splains everything, without actually ever letting you tell your side of the story (even though he said he didn't know what was going on, he wasn't interested in hearing it). Get a male to call for you and avoid the misogyny. Or truly, whatever your gender, just don't use this company and save yourself the stress. read more

One Star-Scam They said they were coming one day, then come the next day and only take 1/2 stuff. The truck they sent was full. Pick up the second half with another truck at 11:30pm-2am. Many hours late each time. Then over the following two days drop the stuff off. Its only a 1 bedroom. They quote is for $2700.00for the 1bedroom. The first drop-off- increased to $3000.00. The second drop off is an additional 1650.00!!! The one supervisor was actually threatening and abusive, knowing our situation. It is very unfortunate that we have had to write this terrible review for 2 Burley Men Moving in Victoria. We booked them to move us from our home in the Okanagan to Victoria. That was our first mistake. They did not wrap all the items like they promised and many furniture items were severely damaged...with no compensation from the owner/manager of 2 Burley Men Moving. He even had the gull to tell me we did not pay enough and we paid every dollar they asked for and I have the invoice. Even the 2BM manager (Ram) in Kelowna said we paid in full. Some crew members were terrible as well but the management was worse in our opinion. And crew members complained about the owner all the time while unloading items. I have now found out that the Better Business Bureau of BC has countless complaints about 2 Burley Men Moving. Apparently people even have legal proceeding against them. This move all took place on July 26th/27th, 2023. It's wrong that a moving company like 2 Burley Men can not take responsibility! You said that you can only compensate for damages based on the agreement. So why haven't you compensated us based on this agreement? The owner is implying that they gave us a deal on price...that is so unbelievable to say that after the fact he found out there was damage to our items. What about the agreement that said 2 Burley Men Moving would wrap and pad all the furniture?? They did not! so I guess they broke the agreement and we have charges against them. We were quoted that it would cost around $2100 for a move of a 2100 square foot house - because I knew we had a lot of items to move I phoned them the week of our move to confirm with them that we had a "house full of furniture as well as a garage." We were rather concerned that nobody came to do an actual estimate of our belongings but we figured that they must know what you were doing. When the first team of movers arrived, they walked through the house, declared that we had "a lot of stuff" and it was "really big" and then drove away. We received a phone call from your office, moments later, saying that we weren't ready to move and so the movers were going elsewhere. We tried to explain that we had friends/family coming later in the day to move the items that "weren't packed yet" because we wanted extra care taken with them, but we were simply told that new movers would come for 1:00. We then received phone calls explaining that the movers would be there a little late - and then at 2:30 were told they were finally on their way. Ultimately they didn't arrive until around 3:00. This was extremely frustrating because it meant that the friends/family we had lined up to help us at 4:00 were now "in the way" of the movers. As well, our cleaner who had been asked to come at 4:00 was not able to start her job as very little had actually been moved by 4:00. She ended up working until late in the night to get the cleaning done, as the movers were there until quite late. Some of the new team of movers did not behave in a professional manner - one was shaking our shelving units (and was actually reprimanded by another mover and told to "act his age"), swearing, playing inappropriate music, speaking rudely to our friends, etc. Somebody who appeared to be more in charge eventually came, and admitted that there weren't enough movers for this job and that we wouldn't be charged any more for the extra hassle/inconvenience of not having things moved in time. But we were charged $4200- more than two other companies quoted us. Whatever you do, do not choose these guys. You clearly get what you pay for. Although in our case, we paid double. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. DO NOT use this company Kevin the "manager" in Nanaimo left my friends high and dry for 2 days and gave them every excuse under the sun but never owning his f@ck up! They advised him because of the fact that he didn't show up they had to stay in a hotel he flat out refused any compensation! Then today he was supposed to show up at 9 am and they called him and woke him up and he said he didn't get any sleep last night? Guess what not their problem! He says he will be there within a 1/2 hour and you know what time he called them? 1 pm yes 1pm?!?!?! WTF ? save yourself the headache and go with someone else read more

Run from this company. When the police showed up from the rudeness of the movers that was the final nail. wi tried to get Harold of the owner without avail and the overcharge was as it seems, normal in what I have read in other comments. Run to next ! read more
