Once again, I'm giving this family business 5 stars for rescuing me promptly and treating me fairly. I had a flat while in Morgantown (my truck seems to need service only here) and was stuck downtown. The owner dropped everything and came and got me! If you want see how business should be done, see Doug's towing. read more

They will tell you they can bill your insurance directly, that will be a lie. They will tell you that they won't charge storage fees because you will be out of town, that will be a lie. They'll refuse to let you settle the bill before you leave town so that they can then decide you have to pick it up before 4pm, in the middle of your trip or they threaten to tack on fees and refuse any card payments over the phone to have another tow company pick it up -- all because you asked for an itemized receipt (which they refused to give, only giving the total amount) So then you'll send someone to pick it up, only for them to then lie and say they told you cash only upon them getting there -- they didn't and it should've been billed to insurance like they said it would BEFORE the tow. Overall just a very dishonest company. I'm paying for a service NOT an attitude and extortion. read more

Bunch of crooks! Told me it was a flat $135 for the tow. Afterwards demanded $250 for a 5 minute drive... cash only of course. Very disappointed with this business since Doug left. read more

Long wait times. Called for a tow and was told someone would be there within an hour. Almost three hours later I was still sitting on the side of the road and couldn't get a straight answer about where the driver was. Every time I called I was told "he's almost there." If you're running behind, just be honest with people instead of giving them an arrival time you can't meet. read more

WV state law requires towing companies to accept credit or debit cards for the release of vehicles. They told my son they wouldn't accept anything but cash. He had to Uber to and from a bank to pay cash. I'm sure they are using some loophole to avoid abiding the law, but what a crappy company. They know they can take advantage of students and they do. I definitely wouldn't recommend using this company if you ever needed help. Also, if you are a victim to this company, I would suggest reporting them to the Public Service Commission of West Virginia and the WV Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division for not accepting debit cards. read more

We were from out-of-state and we broke down on 79 going into Morgantown. AAA contacted Doug's Towing on our behalf. I received a call from them immediately and we were reassured that they'd be there within 20 minutes. The driver was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. On a Saturday when everyone else was closed and we couldn't even get a rental car that late in the day, he dropped us off at our destination and took our vehicle back and did the repair. We had our vehicle back in two hours. read more

This company is a straight-up disgrace. They towed my car TWICE in 24 hours. The first time was completely valid. The second time? Totally unjustified. I was parked in my own lot, with the correct tags, and these vultures came and towed me again. When my roommate tried to tell the driver we had valid tags, he got aggressive, yelled at her, and said "I'll come back and tow your car too, I don't care." Seriously, who raised you? The driver was unhinged, unprofessional, and acted like some insecure little tyrant on a power trip. Threatening a young woman for pointing out their mistake? That's beyond messed up. This isn't just bad customer service--it's harassment. Then I called the company, and the gaslighting began. First, they told me it was because my tags were expired (they weren't). Then they switched stories and claimed it wasn't "my" lot (it is). So which lie is it? Pick one. The fact that they couldn't keep their excuses straight just proves they tow first, and make up the reason later. This is predatory towing, plain and simple. I'm a college student. I work hard, pay rent, and follow the rules--and these people are out here creating chaos for profit. They don't care if they ruin your week, cost you hundreds of dollars, or leave you stranded. Their business model is built on confusion, bullying, and intimidation. If you're thinking of working with this company, don't. If your apartment complex hired them, fight it. These people are the worst kind I've ever met. Rude, dishonest, power-tripping scumbags who get off on screwing over students and families just trying to live. You all seriously suck. read more

If I could give Tony from Doug's Towing 10 stars I would. He's a great guy and a professional. DO NOT HESITATE to call this company when you're in a jam. I will certainly use them for all my Family's needs in the future!! Thank you Tony!!! read more

My old 2007 Scion died on the side of the highway going up a big hill. Scary situation, for sure! My insurance company had Doug's Towing come out and they were very fast and reliable. Jeremiah called me to let me know he was on the way and he did a fantastic job. Very nice and professional! The people in the office were very helpful and kind, and Jeremiah even drove me down to a hotel nearby so that I wouldn't have to walk by myself! He absolutely did not have to do that, and I greatly appreciate it. Excellent service! read more

if I could give 0 stars I would. they didn't show up for 3 hours, i waited outside for their arrival and when I called to check their ETA, they lied and said they showed up but there was no car there. there very much was a car there. ***BEWARE*** Like other reviews have commented, this is a predator tow "company", trolling and taking advantage of people. My vehicle was legally parked in the parking lot in which my daughter resides and paying rent. Doug's Towing swooped in to hook it up. Demanded $100.00 in cash on the spot to release the vehicle or $150.00 if towed to the lot. An hour later, when I called their phone number 304/291.3864, they demanded over $350.00 in cash for the vehicle to be released. Reviewing WV statute on parking laws and regulations. So far found several possible towing statute violations and will be reporting Doug's Towing to The Public Service of West Virginia. Also reviewing the property management company for their association with this company. *** Filed complaint to the West Virginia Service Commision on 10/12/2024. Update forthcoming*** Website for others to file a complaint in regard to this company: https://www.psc.state.wv.us/scripts/complaints/instructions.cfm read more

wrongfully towed my car at my own apartment complex. 2 men who were towing personally came to check my car and let me know it was good there. as soon as i left they towed my car (in a spot i have been parking at for a year now). extremely unprofessional and very hard for me as i am a struggling college student. read more

I've had to get my car towed twice. Each time Doug's Towing helped me out. The driver is a really great guy! He gave me an estimate time of arrival and he was here at the appointed time. He was professional and kind. He got my car to the repair shop safely for the work to be done. I knew I needed power steering fluid but hadn't gotten around to putting it in. He literally put the power steering fluid in for me. I thought that was really kind of him. I recommend Doug's Towing for the great service they provide. Also for the great guy who does the towing! Awesome job. read more

Josh Hillberry was a saint! I could not have made it back home to Pittsburgh without him. Not only did he call me about being the tow truck scheduled to tow me back home, but he told me he was just a 5 minute ride away and let me call him after my important work meeting for him to meet me back at my car to load up my car and me. He was sweet, easy to talk to, and made the 1+ hour ride home comfortable. I'd use them for all my towing needs if I ever end up back in the area. Thank you so much, Josh! You really saved me. :) read more

Doug's is running a hit job on anyone to park in Morgantown. Charging $270 for your car getting towed is a scam. Doug's relies on unexperienced college students as it's main source of prey. Shame. read more

These people are scavengers. They will actively steal your legally owned, legally parked vehicles from your residence without provocation or warning then ransom them back to you at extremely inflated prices. In places they're supposed to issue 24-72 hours warnings, they will just tow the vehicles instead then place a warning sticker on it after it's in their lot. They will fabricate any excuse. They are a scummy and disgusting business that preys on people already struggling. read more

Beyond rude and extremely unprofessional and untrained staff. This company was attempting to tow my boyfriends motorcycle and strapped it to the truck cluelessly. If we had not caught them before they finished strapping it down, the motorcycle would have fallen off the truck. They not only have no idea what they're doing at all, but the employee was beyond rude when my boyfriend informed him that the bike was not strapped on properly. Additionally, their ratchet straps scratched his motorcycle and they're refusing to accept responsibility for the damages. Absolutely disgusting employees and customer service. read more

Disrespectfully f*** this company and the loser who sits in the CVS parking lot preying on people to ruin their day. I get rules are rules but my boyfriend and I who are most certainly not from here ran across the street for literally two minutes to use the restroom and within a minute he was already hooking his stupid truck up to my boyfriends- then proceeded to rob my boyfriend of $100 cash as a "release fee". Y'all are some crooks and really petty for sitting and stalking a lot just to make some easy money- not to mention it was clear he was targeting people as we were not the only people in the lot, and I'm sure not the only ones who hadn't gone into the pharmacy. Shame on you. read more

These people have towed me out of my own spot at my house that I pay for multiple times. They are incredibly unprofessional, and as I was explaining that they towed my car out of my own spot, they basically told me that they didn't care and to give them the money. These people take advantage of college students that already don't have money, and absolutely don't care about your car or you. They lurk around and are predatory in college and low income neighborhoods. Further, they are cash only, and when you go in to pay there is an incredibly unprofessional and rude man who smokes cigarettes in your face and very obviously doesn't care that his business harms the local community more than they help. Unless you're trying to spend about 300$, I would recommend LITERALLY any other towing company than them. They are literally awful people and an awful business. read more

I was visiting a friend on Superbowl Sunday and at halftime one of the guests saw my car along with several others being towed. Tow Mater Doug took it on himself to tow students cars without authorization from anyone. The apartment complex was informed of the visitors and management gave approval. I parked my car at CVS on high street for literally 2 minutes and my dog was in the backseat. Picked up my food came back out and this company was trying to tow my car WITH MY DOG STILL IN THE BACKSEAT. If I hadn't come back in time the dog and car would've been gone. Absolutely unbelievable how are you allowed to take a car when someone's live animal is in it. These people do not have a heart. They didn't call animal control or anything and made me pay 100. WHAT WERE THEY GONNA DO WITH MY DOG. SHE WOULD'VE BEEN TERRIFIED. read more

I parked my car at CVS on high street and ran into a restaurant (directly beside CVS) to order my food, left my roommate to get the food when it was ready, and immediately walked back to go into CVS to get bandages because I broke my toe two days ago and am currently in a boot. Firstly, when I was looking for my car I could hear them sitting at the top of the lot laughing at me. Since I was planning on going to CVS and had only been gone maybe a couple minutes, I immediately assumed my car was stolen (thinking they were laughing at something or someone else at the time). After the 911 operator explained to me that I was towed, I was upset since I was going to be a CVS customer considering my BROKEN TOE needs bandages. When I called and explained this situation the woman was instantly rude, accused me of lying about my situation, and was insanely frustrating to speak with, so I immediately got an Uber to go pick my car up. My experience was an absolutely rude staff who repeatedly treated and spoke to me very disrespectfully when I came in and explained my frustration and offered to pay and receive my car. Rather than making things simple for everyone and taking my payment and giving me my car, they would not accept my payment until I fueled their egos and apologized for my frustration and attitude. When I then began to exit in my car, after saying "no thank you" when offered assistance, my roommate overheard them say they were "going to lock me in if I kept up my attitude." This was handled in the upmost childish and unprofessional manner I've ever experienced with a company. If I knew of a way or who to contact I would 100% do what I could to report this company for the way they prey on students. read more

My Daughters car, a 2006 Honda CRV with AWD was towed after the starter gave out. They towed it from the rear and put a little wheelie thing on the front. These guys are awesome. They came right away, knew what they were doing, and asked for a reasonable compensation. My car got stuck on Pine Ridge road a few miles off 119 after nightfall while snowing. Other towing companies refused to send anyone because of how bad the place we got stuck was. These people are a bunch of crooks. My son's car broke down at a shopping center and he couldn't pick it up immediately so Doug's was called in by the manager of the shopping center to tow the car. They towed it and charged $200 to tow it across town in addition to charging $25 a day for storage. The only way to avoid paying, they said, was to sign over the title for the vehicle. When we agreed to do so they wouldn't even let my son get his stuff out of the vehicle until they had the title, despite being required by law to do so. Since I'm not near Morgantown it will take me a few days to get the title to him and in the meantime my son can't get his stuff. The cops were no help either.
