His staff is very friendly, efficient and professional, and Dr. Oppenheimer is extremely thorough and professional. He gave me a high-level of confidence and comfort, explaining my case in detail while showing me my x-ray. He described, and I could clearly see, the important need for an immediate root canal. He described the next steps and what I could expect, leaving me to say, "how soon can we begin?" After being offered a variety of movie titles, comedy shows and concert performances to select from, I was provided a pair of VR-type glasses with earbuds and encouraged to sit back and relax while the root-canal was being performed. I was so relaxed, and enjoying watching Seinfeld, that at times I forgot where I was. After almost an hour, the entire root-canal was done. Dr. Oppenheimer had already sent notes to my primary dentist and I was on my way. I also was very happy when I walked out, not experiencing any pain and knowing that the three anesthetics administered had almost completely worn off (and after about 45-minutes of leaving the office, I had all sensation back). Dr. Valls is not a 'slick' salesman; he works within your means to ensure that you receive appropriate care within your financial constraints. I also like that he mentors visiting dentists who work beside him to learn before returning to their home countries to practice dentistry. It says much about an individual's character when they 'pay it forward' as Dr. Valls does. Communication about charges has also been unclear and inconsistent, and no one could give me a straight answer about billing. I contacted corporate about these issues and was contacted by someone named Beth, who initially apologized and said she would take care of the situation. Unfortunately, she has since stopped providing solutions and appears to have aligned with the same unprofessional behavior instead of resolving the ongoing problems she said she would handle. Humana, my dental insurance carrier has confirmed on 3 occasions that I was overcharged by Friedman…read moreDental Miami $332.80 for a crown I received in June of 2023. They have refused to reimburse me. In addition, the crown fell out less than 2 years after the work was done. In August 2025, Friedman agreed, after much pressure, to replace it with no direct costs to me but they, without my approval, billed Humana and receive $440, which was credited against my 2025 coverage allowance for upcoming work. The crown was initially put in poorly. They should not have been paid for their faulty work a second time, particularly since they over charged me the first time. They have now ceased to work with Humana and there is nothing more Humana can do to assist me. I have now stopped going to this office because of this issue and the fact Humana will no longer cover work there. I have filed several formal complaints against this office with professional monitoring agencies. I have been trying to get my full dental records from them for a couple weeks and they have failed to send them. Recently, I had to see a new dentist and start with new x-rays and no historical record from my over 20 years at Friedman Miami. This office was taken over by new management a few years ago and that's when a lot of customer service and billing issues began. I saw 4/5 different dentist there over the last 4 years. They can't seem to keep the same dentist. They owe me $332.80 for the initial overbilled work and $440 for the amount charged against my Humana Insurance allowance for replacing the faulty first crown. Total ($772.80) plus my full dental records. I would avoid this office completely.
