The high-level alarm on my septic tank system triggered a few days ago. The alarm is in our basement storage room and lets the homeowner know that the septic tank pump system is not functioning properly and will most likely result in sewage waste to back up into the house. I called Douglas County Septic and Adrian arrived the next day. He examined the two 750-gallon tanks, but of course focused on the liquid tank where the effluent pump, pump float and high-level alarm float sensor is located. The 27-year-old pump was operating at a minimal level. Adrian removed the existing pump and temporarily installed a pump he had on hand and his temporary pump worked like a charm. I did not realize that our 27-year-old pump, float and alarm float were way past their 10-15-year life span. Adrian removed the temporary pump and installed a brand-new effluent pump, new pump float and new high-level alarm float sensor. He also removed the 2" rubber coupling and installed a 2" union to be county code compliant. Instead of securing the pump float and high-level alarm float sensor to the 2" effluent pump pipe, he secured the floats to a smaller diameter PVC pipe that stands adjacent to the 2" pump pipe. His rationale was that if the floats ever fail the service technician can pull that small PVC pipe with the floats out to service rather than disconnecting and pulling the pump. Adrian also advised me to have an electrician bring the electrical connection housing up to county code. The current electrical setup allows mice and water runoff to enter the electrical connections. I have an electrician coming to my house next week for other work and will ask the electrician to bring the electrical box up to code with a sealed and dry box. Douglas County Septic Pumping did the pumping job as planned. I given the price for pumping my size septic tank. They forgot to tell me of their additional standard $200 for finding and digging out the lids. My job was scheduled for the morning. It was delayed until afternoon while they handled an emergency. I could not be home at that time and they were willing to do it without me around. They are company that is willing to take care of emergencies. And they are willing to do the pumping when no one is around. Except for neglecting to tell me about their standard additional $200, they did a good job. read more

I switched to Douglas County Septic several years ago and until recently have been happy with them. I scheduled with them for a tank pump-out in July. The scheduler made sure that she knew where their truck should be for the pumping (on the street in front of our house), and assured me I didn't need to be there. I thought that was a good thing, because I knew I probably wouldn't be there. The day before, they left me a message confirming the appointment, and repeating where they should park the truck and again assuring me I didn't need to be there. They came at the end of the day while I was gone. Although they said they didn't need anyone to be there, the driver rang the doorbell and asked my wife if they could drive the truck across the leach field. Of course if I was there I would have said absolutely not. They had instructions where to pump from, and I've been told over and over again - including by Douglas County Septic - that a large truck should never drive across the leach field. My wife didn't know, and since they said they wouldn't need anyone there I assumed I didn't need to educate her on it. When I got back I immediately saw the deep tracks in the field, and my wife told me what happened. I called to complain, and the lady answering the phone said she would have the owner call. The owner never did call, but he did have someone else call me, twice. They never apologized for having driven on our leach field or not following the documented instructions, but rather just spent time trying to convince me that it probably didn't cause any harm. Right. I'm done with these guys. I hope I can find someone else for my next septic pump-out in a few years. read more

Used this company twice for our engineered septic system. Last fall, two guys came who were polite. This fall (2019) a young kid came out. He checked the engineered system field, but refused to check our septic tanks. He said it wasn't on the work order. When I called and asked to have the system serviced, no one told me that I needed to make a separate request to have someone look inside the tanks. He said he had pumped the tanks last year, which wasn't true. Lousy employee. Won't call this company again. read more

My experience with this company was very positive. Scheduling and communication were excellent. The people that came out and did the work were fast and efficient. I had to ask questions to get all the information that I felt like I needed moving forward on my septic maintenance, but I learned all that I wanted to know, including some county code changes that I needed to be aware of. When I needed the company to go the extra mile to make the timeline on an upgrade to my system, Scott, the owner, went above and beyond to accommodate my request. When I had an issue with the final bill, he was quick to address and respond to my concerns, and everything was positively resolved. Sometimes you learn more about the integrity of whom you are dealing with when things don't go exactly right! I was pleased with what I saw. These guys are great. Have used them for six years to clean septic tank. Always quick and efficient. Just put my house up for sale and needed to get it certified which required funding and exposing the second lid. Scott, the owner, came out and helped us identify where they would need to dig. Unfortunately it was under a deck but helped us figure out how to minimize the deck damage. Was in a hurry to get it done since we were putting house on the market the next week. Scott arranged to get it done in my time frame and the guys did a great job. And they cleaned up after themselves!!! read more

These guys are scam artists. Got a quote from another company (Absolute Diversified - they were great) and this company to replace a septic pump. Douglas County Septic (DCS) was lower and so I had them do the job but then they added all kinds of other charges that were never discussed. The owner there threatened me that if I don't pay them; they will come out and remove the pump. So I told them to remove it. John (from Absolute Diversified) came back out the same day and did the install with a MUCH better job and he stuck to his pricing that included the whole job with no hidden fees. DCS still tries to win business by tricking and scamming the customer. My advice is 1) DONT use them 2) if you do get suckered into them by their bait-n-switch pricing don't pay any more than what was discussed. read more
