Going to the dentist had become a…read morelegitimate fear of mine several years back, after an oral surgeon caused a massive infection in my jaw due to negligence. After that experience, I went almost 11 years without seeing a dentist. I was too scared. When I first got to Derricks office, I was in bad shape. I had so many things wrong with so many teeth, that I thought My teeth were possibly beyond repair. So many of my teeth hurt so badly, that i was in tears most days. Hot hurt, cold hurt, pressure hurt, smiling hurt! I'm happy to say, that today, I have a healthy, happy mouth. Dr. Derrick Chua is the person responsible for this. I call him a miracle worker when I talk about him. He literally did the impossible. He was such a calming presence, that my anxiety melted away on my first visit. His confidence and skills, are incredible. I don't quite know the right words to describe what a repeatedly great experience I have had with him throughout my massive amount of dental work that he has worked relentlessly to complete. But if there is one thing that I can say that sums up my experience with Dr. Chua, is that after my first visit, I have actually fallen asleep while he is working on my teeth, AT EVERY FOLLOWING APPOINTMENT!! That's how comfortable i'm able to be now while at the dentist. If that doesn't speak for the quality of his work, I don't know what does. From someone who spent 11 years too scared to see a dentist, trust me when I say you will not regret beginning your dental health journey here. Thanks for reading!

i am writing this review from my couch where i sit recovering from my 3rd surgery needed after…read morecomplications resulting from dr. chua's work and failure to properly address, diagnose and treat the problem he created. In November i had an old crown done in my childhood fall out. i went online and found dr. chua, who had great reviews and was close in a ziplock and a free sample packet of to where i lived. From the start, there were many red flags that, had i not felt under pressure to resolve the issue, i should have paid attention to. with that said, i should not have decided to let dr. chua pull my tooth and prep for a bridge (he tried to sell me on an implant, that could be started that day) without being given anything in writing--no counsel on risks and benefits of treatment, non formaql plan, no financial paperwork of anysort. . . .) Long story short (this has been going on since nov. 2025) i left his office with one toothn less that bday, no written care instructions, no antibiotics, no pain meds, not even a printed receipt. He gave me 2 pieces of guaze in a baggie and a single dose packet of advil. I also left with a terrible sius infection i had to diagnoise myself. it took him over a week to file a rx with my pharmacy and when he did, it was for an ineffective antibiotic. i later went to my regular dr. at kaiser who informed me the rx. he gave would not work for sinus infection. whilke pulling my tooth he tore open my sinus cavity, which i was told is commoin because of how close the sinus floor is to the root of the upper molars. i accepted this. he said it nwould take time to close. but months passed and the opening didnt close. i lost count of how manyb follow up visits i went to, during which he would knumb me up and scrape and scratch and stich back up my mouth. Finally, he said id need a boine graft to resolove the problem, at which point i decided to get a second opinion. the next day he contacts me saying he went bacvk over my x rays and realized a piece of my tooths rooth was left behind. i have not been back to dr. Chuas office. but since November, in addition to the many visits to his office i have missed, easily, 3 months of work and have needed to msee both an oral surgeon and an ENT and i still can noit complete the bridge. i also should note i paid almost$6500 upfront, out of pocket to his office. If you are reading this, i would strongly urge you to consider ANY other dentist.
