We were dining next door and decided to stop by this donut shop for some dessert. The donut shop smelled amazing and the donuts looked delicious. We could not settled on what flavours to buy so decided to buy half a dozen to share amongst the four of us. Fresh donuts are always the best. Size was good for the price of gourmet donuts. We ordered the BMW fritter (banana, maple, miso and walnut), cherry candy yum yum twist (cherry sugar coated), raspberry jelly filled, sweet summer bun (whipped "cream" and apricot jam), prairie fog long jane (strawberry and earl grey) and "country style" chocolate donuts. My favourites were the BMW and sweet summer bun. They were unique flavours I have not tried elsewhere and they actually tasted good too. Service was friendly and efficient. The person working behind the counter was good at answering questions. Overall, a great donut experience. I would give this 4.5 stars.

Vegan options! They are not like the absolute best I've ever had but they satisfy the craving :) Fun atmosphere

The donuts are very big, so I enjoy half at a time

Decent donuts that keep a person coming back for more. They have a lovely assortment of flavours but I do find that a half dozen is on the steep side. So it's definitely a treat that I'll share with others but not something I'll purchase regularly. As this is Easter weekend, I split my box with my Aunt and cousin for them to enjoy something new. My cousin is vegan, so I know she'll really appreciate the donut selection I left for her to try. As the donuts are large, I cut mine in half and slowly enjoy. The half I sampled this afternoon is well decorated and wasn't overpowering on the sweet scale. I love chocolate in general, so the Millionaire was a definite yes for me being that it's chocolate, caramel and shortbread. I also ordered Bernadette, Feather Boa, Funky Monkey, Raspberry Vanilla Sugar (the least decorated of all), Lemon Vanilla Cardamon. The website had a good amount of flavours and decent descriptions to make the choices easy for me. I actually found it less stressful to select online than in person. As in the past when one would line up in the store, the names would not always describe what the flavours could be. I'm a bit confused about once one gets to the store for pick up. I thought the web order made it clear about pick up during the selected time frame, that you need to call before entering and not to proceeded until they call you back to enter. What I watched after I pulled up was an assortment of people arriving by vehicle and foot. I don't know about those on foot but those with vehicles definitely went in before getting the phone call back to do so. I know this as they arrived after me but left before I got my call. In total, I sat in my vehicle for 10 min watching a lot of other boxes being completed while the constant one person in the store and another about to enter occurred. Good news is that as I waited so long for my donuts the rush of people finished and I was still able to limit interaction with others by grabbing my box from the counter.

We were in the area and so I decided to stop in a grab a few donuts for the family. This place is super cute and located in the brewery district. It was very clean and no line when we got there. The donuts themselves are quite big! They have changing flavours regularly which is nice. When I got there it was probably about 1-2pm and they still had lots of donuts available. I ordered 6 donuts which was about $20. A bit pricey but they are huge so that was ok. The specialty flavours were delicious (beer flavour and Apple fritter) but we didn't enjoy the blue donut and the long one as much. The donuts were so big that we couldn't finish them all in one day so they sat on our counter for a couple days. On the third day they were pretty much hard and not fun to eat anymore. I think next time I go I would opt for just one donut each person vs. getting more than we can eat in one sitting.

A few years ago "fancy" donuts were blowing up everywhere and were a major trend. Now they're more of a thing that we have simply come to expect. The bar has now been set too high for crappy donuts to stand a chance. In Edmonton, one of the most popular donut shops that you'll hear about is Doughnut Party. Their original location is in Oliver, in the Brewery District, and they've since expanded to a second spot in Ritchie as well. It's hard to miss their branding, which is pretty adorable and blasting with a rainbow of bright colours. They've got a little donut creature as a logo/mascot and he's so cute that you can buy him on merch. Voted #1 Best Doughnuts 2018 by VUE Weekly, these are the fried circles of dough that you need to be aware of in this city. I visited the Oliver location because when given the option, I usually prefer to hit the OGs. You'll find them in a bumpin' plaza filled will all sorts of cool businesses - and Doughnut Party fits right in. Entering the small space, you'll note that it's strictly a take-out situation with no seating whatsoever. I liked the glass block back wall, the giant mountain of pink donut boxes, and especially enjoyed their use of fluorescent tube lighting (which I feel is making a comeback). The space feels like a fun, laid-back shop with a great attitude toward inclusion and good vibes. The long glass case is filled with a rotating selection of at least ten different donut flavours, like colourful jewels inside a box. You can't choose just one. Plus they serve coffee. On my recent Monday morning visit their full donut selection was on display and I eagerly chose the ones that I wanted to sample. Doughnut Party will often run different weekly themes and this particular week is "Halfway to Halloween" which means that they've brought back a bunch of their spooky flavours. I also grabbed a Fast Coffee ($3.00) to drink. The coffee isn't anything fancy - it's exactly as they claim: a fast coffee. They pour it into the cup black (it didn't seem obvious that they're using beans from a cool local roaster or anything) and you can add your own cream and sugar to taste. It's like the old days before latte art. The coffee was perfectly fine though. As we are well aware coffee and donuts are good friends. Let's talk about what's inside the bright pink box! It's donuts!!! Doughnut Party does yeast donuts, which makes me happy because I far prefer them to cake donuts. I selected a Half Dozen ($19.95) and stuck to the flavours that interested me the most! Donuts are best eaten immediately because that's when they're the softest and the freshest. In order of how much I liked them, here are the donuts that I got!: Salty Witch (Chocolate + saltine crumble + butterscotch + PB chips.) Easily my favourite overall because I'm way into the combination of peanut butter and chocolate. I also enjoyed that this one had even more going on with the interesting and salty use of crumbled saltine cracker - which really worked and added great texture. You can't go wrong with a chocolatey, salty/sweet combo in my opinion. Loved! Caramel Apple Crunch I enjoyed the way that this flavour really captured the essence of apple. Plus the irresistible bits of crunchy brittle on top just do it for me. This really was a great take on a caramel apple - in donut form. Death by Chocolate (Chocolate + chocolate + chocolate.) If you're a fan of chocolate, this is the donut for you! It's just chocolate on more chocolate, however it's done well because I appreciated the use of different textures and methods of providing more chocolate. Raspberry Bismarck This puffy little cloud was absolutely covered in icing sugar and packed full of oozy raspberry jam. This one felt like a very classic donut and it was done well. Ooky Spooky Cookie Crumble A fun one for sure, I liked the colours and the crumble of cookie but I felt that the flavour was a bit one-noted. I guess it was mainly just vanilla? Which is fine, but if a donut looks like a party, I'm gonna want it to taste like one too. I think that they actually always have a version of this one available, they simply change the colour of the sprinkles to match the season/holiday. Vancouver Fog (Maple + orange + earl grey.) First of all, I love that I'm seeing the name "Vancouver fog" more and more, replacing the old "London fog." I appreciate the patriotism. Everything about this donut should've been things that I love but unfortunately I didn't get much of the flavour. It just tasted sweet. I wish that more of the maple, orange and earl grey had been able to come through in a more dynamic way. Overall, I liked the donuts at Doughnut Party quite a lot and I do think they're doing a great job of creating the fancy and fun donuts that everyone now craves. Their dough is very soft and expertly made, which I give them high marks for. (However, they're not quite the most pillowy donuts that I've ever experienced. These ones did have a slight denseness to them.) I foun

Made a special trip here just to try these! There is parking right in front of the store. No public bathroom. See pictures for prices. Nice selection for Thursday at 4PM. Unique flavors. I noticed they had less cream/filling ones. We tried the Millionaire (choc dip with cookie dough bites, and ?nut bits) and the Cleopatra Dutchie. No place to sit inside but right outside the store are benches to enjoy the sweets in the sun. Millionaire was good. Soft dough, soft chocolate topping that didn't snap off in 1 giant chunk like some places. I like when every bite has chocolate. Cookie dough was good but more would have been better! Cleopatra Dutchie - It was great - soft, moist dough, cinnamon/spiced dough with a few raisins (more would have been better too). In my personal opinion not as good as an apple fritter. Just lacking the moistness of fresh fruit chunks. I liked how they did not feel/taste like grease but were super moist and soft. Better than Destination Donuts down the street in my opinion. Would come back if it was closer to my work/home, but if I am in the area or a friend asks for a recommendation I would send them here!

Too big. Too sweet. Overpriced. Poor selection. I used to frequent doughnut party all the time. But i found the quality is lacking the last few visits. The doughnuts do seem bigger than they were intially but the price still is not worth it. $3.75 a doughnut is steep and you can get a nice french pastry or cake for that price. The doughnuts are way too big now and are just too big for one sitting unless you are eating the doughnut as a meal instead of a snack. The toppings are not innovative anymore. They are just sugary toppings with more sugar sprinkled on top. I found the last few times the dougnuts being overly sweet to the point where they just dont taste very good and just give you a stomach ache afterwards. The doughnuts dont last well either after two days they become stale and hard. I liked their fruity toppings before but it seems not they veer towards the easy chocolate frosting or sugar glaze with cinnamon sugar. I dont see what the fuss is about anymore. There is ussually the same old boring 6 flavours to choose from. I hardly see anything new anymore. The fact the menu is not posted online but you have to come in to find out whats available really sucks. At $3.75 a doughnut you would expect the doughnut to be packaged nicely so the toppings dont wreck. But they only give you a box for 6 or more donuts. Which is dumb. Those paper sleeves are too small and the toppings just smear all over the bag. The donut is too big for the single sleeves to be transported at all. Which completly ruins the overall donut experience. Personally i think a smaller donut and a smaller price would make this place a nice treat. Nobody wants to eat a donut as a meal. And if they do, im sure the guilt gets them afterwards. Heck i cant even finish one without getting sugar overloaded headache afterwards.

After receiving a gift card for Doughnut Party and being a lover of doughnuts, I went out of my way to find the place (it's down an alley so I missed it a few times). I was amazed at the unique flavours of the doughnuts. One even had dill! I went for the lemon elderberry. The lemon definitely dominated in the glaze, with some subtle fruity undertones in the buttercream icing. The doughnuts are the yeast kind, which I prefer to cake, and are very tall and substantial. The shop also sells coffee, but I wish the place was larger and had seating. I did not know it was take-out only, which meant that I scarfed down my doughnut in a most undignified way outside and later found out I spent the rest of the afternoon with buttercream on my nose. Oh well. It was worth it. Good thing I was riding a bicycle so I could burn off some of those calories! The hours are a bit restrictive, but it is worth the effort to get here.

    All the donuts!

This place is definitely a party! And it has ALL the donuts. I've always been a fan of Doughnut Party. New and rotating donut flavours, along with a featured fritter. They have a mix of classic glazed donuts and then donuts with all the frosting and toppings. I recently bought a couple dozen doughnuts for an event and their online ordering system was very quick and easy! I was even able to secure an order less than 24 hours before the event. The order was ready on time and they were definitely a hit! Plus you can customize your box online with all the desired flavours.

Doughnut Party, run by the same owners as Moonshine Doughnuts, is the first artisanal/hipster doughnut shop in the city. Clearly, there's demand with constant lineups, sell outs and hype since day one. I waited a few months to try and let the hype die down and went for a visit just past noon on a Friday afternoon. Guess what, no lineup at all! They had just made a fresh second batch too. Talk about perfect timing. Six flavours available so I decided to try one of each. Prices are in the artisanal doughnut range ($3.00 for one). The shop is small with no places to sit; essentially, grab and go. - Half dozen ($16.00) - from top left clockwise: fritter, strawberry lemonade, classic vanilla dip, bday cookie crumble, chai pistachio rosewater and fruit punch rosewater. Honestly, I don't get the hype. Flavours were subtle and you can only taste it in the topping. I want the whole doughnut to be that flavour when I bite into it. It's also unnecessarily large. I wasn't a fan of the texture; didn't have that satisfying, worth the calories, I want to eat every last doughnut magic. All fluff, no substance. I wanted to like DP but have no plans to come back. Debit or cash only.

    Self explanatory.

Vegan doughnuts for, well, vegans or those allergic to eggs. These are not your momma's doughnuts. These are super huge and w designer flavours like blueberry lavender, black sesame mango, peach twist and an apple and cranberry fritter. We made it ten minutes to closing and scored the last lavender doughnuts. Totally worth the last minute dash!

I had heard a lot about Donner Party and had had a chance to try one of their donuts when the student brought some samples to class at NAIT. I decided for a joint birthday party that instead of cake we would cut up donuts into quarters so that everyone can try a piece of the different flavors rather than a cake we all had 1.5 Donuts each. The day I rolled in there was a fundraiser for an lgbtq group so I purchased the special sour rocket flavored Donuts in addition. It's a good cause. Because we're going to be doing a blind taste test I asked that they write the names of the donuts on the lid of the box, which they did happily. It really did help having those names as a reference. The tasting party was a real hit! The flavors were very unique, the quality of the dough for the donut was awesome, the icings and flavors were spot-on. Eating a donut called Sriracha lime was a new experience but a good one. I will return to Donut party in the future their product is great for what you get the price is really good too. I paid 45 bucks for a gourmet substitute for birthday cake that also served as part of our entertainment for the evening. You can't go wrong.

While I still love the fluffy deliciousness of these special doughnuts, I detest that there is no way for me to know what flavours they have on any given day. Doughnut Party posts a collection of flavours on their IG stories once a week, however I've visited Doughnut Party enough times to confidently say it is not reliable. And, IMO, "flavours subject to availability" is a poor excuse to have random flavours every day. With only 6 flavours to choose from, it's really hit or miss if there's a flavour I like. Doughnut Party is in an out of the way location for most people. If you're just going every now and then, you'll be happy with whatever flavours there are as it's a novelty. But I like to treat myself once a week, and many times I'm disappointed by the selection. Too bad they don't have more than 6 flavours.

Also, it gives highlight to an delicious food scene, which otherwise can be overlooked because of the area of town that Chinatown is located in. I really believe in the area, and even if it is not Chinatown Dining Week, I still go there often because the food is amazing (at numerous places on 96th street), and the families who have food establishments are really friendly, and care about they do. The staff here are friendly and care about what they do, (as all of the other locations on the street), but english is not their first language, so be patient! The women here running the bakery were fantastic, but we needed to do some charades to get what we wanted. Our fruit cocktail cake was only 20 bucks (for downtown dining week, it is slightly higher regularly), which is cheaper than many Costco cakes. It was so delicious. Light and fluffy, full of fruit and delectable whipped cream. I am not a super sweet fan, but I had three pieces of cake the first night. So lovely. They also have a tonne of other baked goods that are worth checking out. You should. Check out Chinatown. Check out the food. And check out the people that are in this resilient community.

I don't think I have had something here that I didn't think was ok to good. My issue the last time was that they add the prices in their head and didn't issue a receipt. They usually use a calculator but I don't recall if they ever give a receipt from the til. This time they didn't use and charged almost $30 for baked goods, which I think was a few dollars off. My suggestion is if you go, add up the items beforehand or ask for a receipt to ensure the price charged is what it should be.

It's the first time I went there, as we usually go somewhere else like Hotel Macdonald, and I can tell you right off the bat that the one offered by The Art of Cake is much MUCH better! The staff were also super sweet when chatting and checking in on us during the course of our tea party. The menu was mouthwatering. Other tea parties, while sticking to bite sized portions, also stuck with scant fillings/toppings and little variety that always left me feeling like I should go for a burger run after. The Art of Cake's was not only as generous as they can be with the fillings in the bite sized portions, they were also varied and left my palette (and stomach) leaving well satisfied. Similar setup to Handy with breads and desserts displayed on the center glass counter display with a few shelves on the side acting as a mini market, the backboard had a few food food items but nothing special. The space is roomier with plenty of seating, but with a feeling of more of a concrete room as opposed to being more welcoming as Handy. We left with a few Portuguese tarts and they were cold? Located on Alberta Avenue, Popular Bakery fits well into the multicultural atmosphere of the area as a Portuguese bakery and restaurant. One of the few places where one can sit with a cup of coffee and enjoy conversation with friends (except when community coffeehouse The Carrot is open), Portuguese Bakery sells fresh baked goods, sandwiches made to order, and a few hot entree items such as Portuguese flame-grilled chicken and pork. A cooler contains a variety of beverages, both domestic and imported from Portugal, and there are a few short aisles of groceries, again, mostly Portuguese. Despite being large and spacious, tables are precious few. I can imagine this place getting very full at lunch time, and doing a mostly take-out business. I was there around four in the afternoon, and the tables were around half full, mostly with older Portuguese men and women sitting around enjoying coffee and pastries, speaking in their mother tongue. My server was Portuguese, and I really felt like I had stepped into another culture - which is exactly what I want when I am visiting an ethnic establishment. I ordered a quarter chicken meal with french fries (my other choice was rice) and a salad (which comes with the meal). I was asked if I wanted my food served regular or spicy and I opted for regular. My food was brought out to me a few minutes later, and consisted of a large plate almost overflowing with chicken, fries, and salad. The salad was a mix of vegetables in a light, almost Italian style vinagrette with a bit of a salty kick to it. The fries were average, but crispy. I thought perhaps they might make their own here, but I was wrong. The chicken, however, was the star of the show. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, the meat was infused with a tangy season mix in oil, accented with salt and garlic. The grilled flavour of the chicken came through as well. Instead of giving me an entire dark or white quarter, I had a wing, a chunk of thigh, and two chunks of white meat. I enjoyed the variety, and it also made the meal easier to eat. For dessert, I decided to try one of the many tempting treats in the bakery's showcase. An egg tart is a standard Portuguese favourite of mine and they were here, but looked rather burned. Some of the other items, such as danishes, eclairs, and other pastries looked delicious, but a bit too much to follow the meal I had. I opted for what looked like a smaller dessert - a slice of caramel pudding. As soon as my server handed me the plate, I thought my arm would drop. It was heavy for such a small slice! I also had a cup of coffee to accompany my dessert and keep me occupied as I finished reading a book. The pudding reminded me of the filling of an egg tart, very firm in texture. The caramel part was probably the light syrup at the bottom of the slice, which tasted more like a lightly burned sugar than caramel. It was good, though, and it took me a while to fork my way through it. The big disappointment of the afternoon was the coffee. It was very, very average. However, it was also inexpensive. The price for a meal is in the $7-$10 range. The sandwiches are on fresh bread or rolls and include a variety of meats. There is also soup. I plan to come here again to have more chicken and try the rice. Portuguese Bakery closes daily at 6:00 p.m. and is closed on Sundays.
