The best thing about this hotel is the location. Great beach views and access. The staff is all very friendly and professional. I spent 2 nights here off season in December so the rates were great. This is the first place I've been that from the same balcony I can watch a sunset and a sunrise. I had a $17 hamburger in the restaurant and it was good, with homemade chips on the side also very tasty. Of course it was overpriced but they give a $15 food credit for Gold Hhonors members so that made it worth while. Overall I enjoyed my time here. That's the good news. The downside is the age of the hotel. The rooms need renovations and upgrades. The old carpet smells stale. The elevators are sketchy. I definitely would not pay premium prices to stay here in season for the quality of the rooms.

The hotel is a bit outdated but was clean and all of the staff I interacted with were pleasant. I booked a beach front room with a balcony and the balcony was small and didn't have any seating (or space for seating). If you're thinking about upgrading to that room type it isn't necessary. There is a small gym, indoor/outdoor pools and 2 restaurants attached. Molly's which is outback has a casual atmosphere, small menu and frozen drinks made to order. Complementary coffee available in the mornings and chocolate chip cookies as always.

On the surface, this hotel would rate around 3.5/5 stars. It's clean, located right on the beach with easy access, decent parking, two pools, and a restaurant. The room had a mid-century modern decor, and the beds and pillows were surprisingly comfortable. The cleanliness was up to standard, and the balcony view of the beach was a definite plus. One downside is that there's no complimentary continental breakfast for adults, though kids get theirs free. The buffet was decent, offering scrambled eggs, cereal, toast, potatoes, biscuits, gravy, sausage, bacon, yogurt, milk, waffles, and granola, but no fresh fruit--that costs extra. The prices at the restaurant were on the high side; for instance, I paid around $17 for French toast, which didn't feel like $17 worth of food or quality. In hindsight, I probably should have just gone with the buffet, but again, it's not free for adults, so I had assumed I would get something better (with fruit!) The staff was generally nice, but the guy checking us in was clearly ready for his shift to end, which wasn't the best first impression. However, the location is fantastic, with plenty of nearby restaurants and attractions like an aquarium and, of course, the beach. We were already thinking about planning another visit--until day two, when I saw something that completely turned me off: a cockroach in the room! I've stayed in all kinds of places, and I've never encountered that before. It was especially unsettling because it escaped under the vanity, and I spent the rest of the trip paranoid it would find its way into our luggage. Maybe this is more common in the South, but it left a bad taste in my mouth, and I'm not sure I'd return. One more thing worth mentioning: the hotel charges $20 for parking if you're just visiting the beach, which makes parking harder to find for actual hotel guests. It feels like they're capitalizing on beachgoers, but at the expense of their own patrons' convenience. Not a great look.

The hotel itself was very nice and clean. Pool was a bit small for the amount of people in the hotel. Also, to get to the beach, you have to take 2 flights of stairs with no handicap access and we noticed a lot of people struggling to get their beach gear to and from the beach. A ramp would have been nice. Very dog friendly and we loved that. Our dog was a superstar! 2 issues we had on our stay. Number 1, I fell at the pool/beach bar restaurant because it was wet. I injured myself and stayed in the Hotel's wheelchair the remainder of our stay and did not get to do any of the plans we had. They were not very concerned at all. Now home, having to see an orthopedist surgeon. Number 2, while I don't care if people smoke marijuana, I just don't want to smell it all day and night. The smell permeated our room the entire stay. We complained, they had the police out and said there was nothing they could do. I would have thought they would have offered to move us to a different floor, but they did not. I feel like they probably could have isolated where the smell was coming from. Basically said not their fault, get it, but at least move us. And, I felt like we were the bad guys for saying anything. It was the attitude of basically, get over it and stop bothering us. Overall, Liked the hotel, met some great people, but the staff not helpful and seemed to not really care about anything.

TV cable box plugged in, no other outlets

There is literally only one benefit of this hotel and that is being oceanfront. Everything else is a complete disaster. Way over priced for this rundown dump. The desk is situated in the room where there are zero outlets, the cable TV box is plugged into the lamp outlet and the coffee pot has no plug to use, I guess they want me to make coffee in the damn bathroom. Just dirty and dingy zero effort by this hotel to do anything, especially with all of the bad reviews they have had. Avoid this place like the plague and do a Airbnb or Verbo instead because you will be way more satisfied. And the hotel staff just don't give a crap either, ask them to bring up a power strip and the comment I got is "I just don't know how everybody else has managed to stay at our hotel." Susan is a real treat.

I am so so disappointed in the service we received at the bar. I have bartended for many years and when I go to a beach bar I expect to get service that I would give my own customers. Two friends and I walked up once to get a round of drinks and the bartender acted like we were an inconvenience when asking for specialty shots. We were happy to tell her how to make them but she acted like she didn't give a shit. I don't know how much she makes an hour but when I was bartending, I wanted to make my customers happy no matter what(even if I had to take a second to google the shot) because I was working for the best possible tip. I am on a mamas day out with my friends and walked up to the bar twice... we were treated like we weren't worth a da** both times. The first time we blew it off but the second time there was a bachelorette party group when we walked up and they were treated like crap as well. Your bar is stocked, you have the ability to please many customers, but with the bartender you have now that is not possible. She acts like everyone is getting on her nerves. I have bartended and done this til 2am in the morning for many nights in a row..... the attitude was not ok. It's summer, babe. Get use to it and know your drinks. You will turn many customers away if this is person continues working there.

Always a special place in my heart because my husband and I got engaged here. We love this hotel because it's on the beach, they let us bring our dog (although the pet fee is a bit ridiculous), and free cookies! We were able to check in a little early, even though the first girl we asked said, "No, check in is at 4" I called and talked to someone else and they got us in. They have the breakfast prepackaged currently. Everyone wears masks.

The hotel manager is a complete a**. Sorry for the language. I was being so nice to him. And he told me that I don't know anything about hotels and that he's been in the business for a long time and he told me I need to reevaluate myself, after me asking if I could speak. ALSO it's my best friends wedding today and he was being so absolutely rude. Time to let my Marine husband take overbut the view was beautiful!

This hotel is in a great location and the staff is nice...but it really needs a makeover! Everything is outdated, the doors all have damage. The pillows are clumpy...not the standard I have grown accustomed to as a Hilton Honors member. I hope they clean it up, the location really is great! We enjoyed a long walk on the beach and just connecting with nature.

Read the reviews it all true. The hotel is older. The room with an ocean view is at an angle which doesn't allow for sitting on the balcony. The shower heads are terrible and the water doesn't drain. The indoor pool and hot tub heater is still not working. Seems like this has been this way for a long time. The best part is the easy access to the beach. Would I stay again, depends on the price. After reviewing the reviews. I skipped the breakfast and went to the nearby McDonald's. The area is amazing. I love the In commercialized vibes. I will be back to the area, just not sure about this particular hotel.

We were able to check in earlier than the 3pm time given online. The girls and I went into the cutest room with whales painted on the walls above painted waves. We chose a double bed room. There were two beds, a small wooden table with two chairs, another wooden bench, a dresser, small fridge, and microwave. There is a vanity with a large mirror, and a tiny bathroom with a shower/tub and toilet. The room was clean, and very neat. We had plenty of towels, as well as extra blankets for each bed. The air conditioning was working great! This hotel has two different picnic/outdoor seating areas. One is outside the area where most of the rooms are. The other outdoor area is down at the other end of the property. They had chairs, picnic tables, a grill, and even bbq tools ready to be used. The girls played with beach balls, and we were able to just sit back and relax. Their hotel also has boat slips in a little gut out back. If you choose to bring your boat, they're ready for you! The lady/owner got us into our room and was so nice. She explained the layout, and rules of the hotel. (No pets, no smoking, quiet time began at 10pm). She was so sweet. This is definitely a family-run business and is geared toward families. There is beach access directly across the road, but we took the short drive down to the Fort Macon beach area. The Caribbe Inn is close to the Morehead bridge, many restaurants, stores, beach shops, and other places you might need while at the beach. We had such a nice stay, and enjoyed our time away. We girls ate out, played on the beach, slept very well at night, and had a great stay at the Caribbe Inn! We will be back!

It's a bizarre time to be reviewing most things because Covid has obviously thrown off the "normal" into many shades of grey. With that said, take this one with a grain of salt as it's only a brief snapshot in time for how things are now. In another month or two, who knows? Let's start with the good: The location to the beach couldn't be any better. Just a short walk and you're there. The hotel was sold out or near it every night we were there yet the beach area directly across the street was never busy. The same as last year with seeing the same families and people every day more or less set up in the same spot very spread out from each other. All Covidly perfect. Not so good: Hilton Honors benefits at check in are still a no here, just like last year. The beds are extremely squeaky. Any sitting/moving = high pitched squeaking. The hotel is not following the new Hilton/Lysol cleaning protocol that started a few weeks ago. No stickers on the room doors or verbiage anywhere on property. I was told at check in that if you want your garbage taken to have it in the hallway early in the morning so that housekeeping could grab it and that the only way to get fresh towels or any bedding was to stop a housekeeper in the hall with your old stuff or bring your old stuff with you to the front desk since the hotel was running extremely low. Is the hotel's linen par really that low? Is the smell of that much garbage-food in the hallways overnight a good idea? Our room was dusty/sandy when we checked in and the a/c unit was filthy. No way were either cleaned thoroughly in a while. But since there was no daily housekeeping and with the hotel being sold out the day we checked in... If you want a hotel that has a great beach location that is out of the way and quiet, this is it. Past that, things were on the dirtier side in general and I question any place not following the new cleaning protocol. Time to give this one a rest for a bit.

The most reasonable rates I found were at the Oceanana. Several good things to say about this facility. There is a lot of open space for your beach enjoyment. Rocking chairs are there for you to enjoy. There's an outdoor pool, a couple of picnic areas, shuffleboard courts, a children's play area, access to the beach, and a free fishing pass at their pier. There's also plenty of access to water hoses to wash the sand off you or your stuff, and a clothesline with clothespins to hang your wet suits or towels. Instead of your standard mini soaps and shampoos, there are wall-mounted containers for soap, shampoo, and conditioner. I also found the staff I dealt with to be friendly. I booked the economy room. Two double beds, shower, cable tv, mini-fridge, free wifi. No frills decor, nothing fancy. Quiet surroundings. Had a small problem with the tv, and maintenance addressed it quickly. For a price that's about half of what the chains wanted, it was a good stay for me. I wouldn't suggest the economy rooms for families or business professionals needing a place to meet with clients or employees. If you are ok with a basic no-frills room or if you are there for the fishing opportunities, it's a good option.

It is like taking a step back to a simpler time when you arrive, though appearances might be a little disconcerting initially if you have never stated in such a place (by that I mean an older motel, obviously this is not a new fancy highrise Sheraton), it's an affordable family oriented resort with private beach, pool, playground, and a community feel. You can talk easily to the other guests and maybe meet people who also built cherished memories here when they were kids, too. We stayed in a suite, but not one of the renovated rooms. Overall it was definitely like going back in time, but we had everything we needed. They do the best they can with what they have, everyone there works very hard. The entire motel and property looks exactly the same as it did 40 years ago. There is a family feel to it, can't go wrong with the pool and the private beach and pier right there. Watermelon and ice cream parties on Wednesday and Saturday, it's nice to see families coming together for those activities. Every morning there is a continental breakfast outside, with items like hard boiled eggs, cheese cubes, little powdered donuts, packaged pastries and little sausage biscuits. Fruit cups, yogurts, bananas. Toast, bagels, cereal, coffee, juices. They should put up some wires atop the shelter areas to deter seagulls from menacing guests. This is not a Sheraton or upscale place, but for a few nights at the ocean you can't beat the price and the family memories made are priceless. All rooms are non-smoking, I only wish it was 100% non smoking property, people smoking at the pool and out front of their rooms was not good. Also, the room was pretty clean but the old musty carpet always felt damp. There was some gunk on the wall next to one of the beds. We were given 4 bath towels a day for 4 of us, but really could have used double that because we were at the beach every morning, then at the pool, and back at the pool at night. We brought our own pool towels of course but with 2 kids we needed more bath towels. They also never gave us more soap. We ended up using the palmolive dish soap for washing up. If you are into that retro feel, not intimidated by "first appearancees", don't mind a very simplistic room, you will not mind this motel.
