Ick! The women working in here are EXTREMELY obnoxious, rude, and condescending, which is a bit puzzling as they are, after all, working in there to sell old stuff. I can see now that some other reviewers had the same thing to say. The place also smells HORRIBLE, and as soon as you walk in, you better hold your nose because it's honestly almost nauseating. My review is based on the consignment and shopping experience. I had a slew of merchandise and admittedly did not check the website for which retailers were accepted, but I did call. The young lady mentioned they only accept contemporary items. Cool, I thought I would be set. I had two Calvin Klein dresses, several items from Talbots and a navy rain coat that I wore twice. She said no to all of my items except the two CK dresses-which she disappeared to the back to ask for permission. It was a no to all. No explanation even - not that they owed me one, but I still frustrated by the process. I turned on my heels and headed to the door but stopped at a rack or two and could not believe the prices for some of the items. $68 for a tank top (I don't recall the brand, but definitely not Gucci or Burberry) but c'mon. I have sold and purchased from DT several times. But this last purchase has made it impossible for me to not write. I purchased a LV probably two years ago and love it and take care of it. This summer the fabric of the bag starts to MELT. Melt all over my handbag and my skin. I called the store and asked if they were going to do anything, this isn't wear and tear. This is a defected bag. The man on the phone was useless and could care less because it's final sale. Totally get final sale on regular items but the bag MELTED! The guy helping me referred me to a repair man that "they use". The fact that he would tell me a repair man is necessary for the items they sell blew my mind. Now I will never trust the items they sell because they might've made a visit to this repair man. Overall I will never make a purchase or recommendation for this store again. -response to the store representative: I bought the bag in the fall of 2017. And only wore it this summer season. So this is not considered wear and tear. Don't worry. LV took care of me. I did not go to your repair man to repair something that should not have happened. Again. I stumbled upon this consignment shop after getting a quick java fix at Starbucks...Lucky Me! Although I have been in plenty of different consignment shops, this one stuck out. I honestly thought it was a "real" shop when I first walked in. It's very clean, classy, and marked so you can find what you need in a snap. And lets not forget the best part - everything is high end without the price tag. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly (I mean what other store gives out free bottles of ice water because it's over 103 degrees out)! They also have this great feature where you can put your information and favorite designers on a "Wish List". They will call or email you (with pictures) of products that came in from the designers you wish to purchase. What a great way to bring in customers! read more

I came across this boutique two years ago while shopping and have been a loyal customer/consignor ever since. The staff are beyond friendly and professional- I have formed great relationships with employees in each of their stores as well as their higher management. Their prices are amazing, the quality of items they sell are close to new if not brand new. They do not sell used or damaged items as I'm reading others say. As a consignor they carefully check all items i bring them to sell and will not accept anything that is damaged even slightly. I've actually seen items pulled off the shelves when its brought to their attention items are damaged. I don't need to sell this boutique or the employees to anyone- go in there once and see for yourself how friendly the staff are and the top quality of merchandise they have. read more

Love this place! First and foremost great, friendly staff. I came in with my 2 1/2 daughter and they were so sweet to her. Kid friendly goes a long way with me! Ok, the good stuff... Found a practically brand new Burberry fur lined hooded jacket at an amazing price. I was hesitant to buy since I already own a red Burberry jacket, the staff was so nice and didn't pressure me. If you are a designer clothing shopper and love good prices, you must visit this resale shop. The salespeople are wonderful and extremely helpful. They put outfits together for you and even comment on what looks good and doesn't. They have clothing, coats, furs, shoes, boots, purses and costume jewelry. There is even a rewards program for frequent shoppers. I live on the west coast but ALWAYS stop in when I am visiting family locally. I sometimes have to check an extra bag because I find so many wonderful items to take home. Do not miss this place when in Essex county. The other two shops are pretty good as well. read more

I recently bought a coat, which at the time (freezing cold) seemed perfect, a bit overpriced but was thinking warmth. Put it on to walk the dog and test the warmth, it was outside I noticed a strong odor and about that time began to itch! When I came in I told my husband ,he noticed the odor as well. The next morning I had a terrible rash on my neck, very itchy as well. So awful I got an appt with my Dr. TheDr. Said it was prob the material of the coat or a cleaning fluid ( hence the odor). Returned to the shop with the Dr. Note, explained I could not keep this garment. The owner came from the back and said The policy is NO RETURNS!! So I was forced to take a credit. Rip Off! I used the credit for a dried out leather purse and a bracelet that broke the first time I wore it, had to take it to a jeweler for repair, which cost half the price I paid for it. The bracelet was sold as a genuine designer bracelet. The jeweler said it didn't appear to be the real thing, small pearl was glued into the setting, this would not be done on a real designer item of jewelry. I'm afraid I must add that the attitude of some of the sales help are almost as over inflated as the prices. I will never return here. Buyer beware!!! Even the response to my review of the unfortunate experience I had was of a condescending nature! "Maybe I hadn't been exposed to certain furs? Maybe I was expecting lambskin from a calfskin purse". No no no, this was most certainly not the case. I was sold a dried out old stiff overpriced purse, an overpriced bracelet, period. No gracious apology, and offer of refund was EVER mentioned, only store credit. I just used the credit in great haste so I wouldn't have to deal with this shop again! So your response was insult added to injury. Why do you think you only have 2 1/2 stars??? One last thought, why not change the name of the shop to Doublecross? read more

UNFORTUNATELY NO WAY TO LEAVE A MINUS STAR :( This place is a nightmare!!! They sold my daughters 900.00 coat that she no longer wanted. They never paid her for it. We have no idea what the coat even sold for . It was sold almost one year ago. (summer of 2016) We have made so many calls about getting paid. The "WITCHY WACKO RUDE Chris" mgr.. said she sent the check out herself in December 2016.for about 98.00..but if we didn't get it ..we have to wait 3 months..it's the policy of the accountant. So the customer has to wait 3 months because they sent out the check and we never received it!! Com'on really, who are you kidding?? Now we all know the "owner "of the store controls her accountant. So that story is total BS. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL..POOR BUSINESS!! I have repeatedly called the store over and over for the check. Over the past year I have frequented this boutique several times they have many designers and some unique things. But buyer beware. I bought a Channel jacket and found it the next day 600 cheaper they would not make me any consession or consideration . So I stayed away. So I then decided to just give them items to sell. However while in the store I saw a Dior bag and purchased it for 748. I did not learn my lesson and found it the next say for 550 I know my fault. But the worst thing they did was trying to clean a s missioni wallet I gave them to sell And not telling me they ruined the finish. The owner said oh I have your wallet I need to give back to you. I just thought the time for the wallet was up and they were giving it back to me. She put it in a bag and I signed for it and went home What a difference it would have made if she had apologized and told me about trying to clean the wallet and ruining the finish. When I took it out of the bag saw what they had done I was ver upset at her underhandedness No wonder she was giving it back she could no longer sell it. Pass this store up. I starting consigning here sometime last year and never really had any issues, until recently. I went in over the weekend to pick up some items that didn't sell such asa pair of Manolos. Never have I had an issue coming to pick up my stuff past the expiration date until now. Apparently my Manolos were donated in February since I never came to get them sooner once they expired. I was told they always donate and it is listed in their contract, which is not true. No where in the form I have or online does it say items in the Ridgewood store get donated. It doesn't state donation at all. Does it even get donated? Sounds a little fishy to me. Highly disappointed with the store, especially since this never happened to any of my stuff before. And on top of it, a wallet that was expired was still there in their showcase for sale yet the more expensive items of mine were donated. How does that make any sense? And how does it work that you just pick and choose what gets donated and what gets kept at the store. I should have read the reviews about this place being shady before I stepped foot in there. read more

There are 3 consignment shops in Ridgewood now and while I shop at all three, Double Take is always my first stop!! When they first opened, I was apprehensive, because I thought they only handled very high-end merchandise. Well, they do handle high-end -- they have a great designer rack including DVF, St. John, Prada, etc, but you can also find items for as low as $30.00. But what makes this store different is that it's well edited and curated, well merchandised and easy to shop there without having to sift through alot of "crap". And the staff is really nice, and helpful, and sincerely excited about the inventory! read more

Nothing too high brand but I wasn't looking in that price range, I'm sure you'd find something right for you. Today I was walking through town and decided to check out the selection. Wow- amazing sales and friendly employees. Lisa was so friendly and approachable. The selection was pretty good too with lots of options considering we are in between seasons.. I wasn't really looking for much but to browse...Thinking ahead to a wedding in November, I found a black evening gown worth a try on even though I knew it would be a bit too large... For $45 it was hard to pass up considering I was eyeing a similar dress for $398 at Bloomingdales.. When I went to the register, I was even more shocked! The $45 was 75% off with a formal evening gown costing $11! I still cannot believe this.. It will be well worth the tailoring with this price and I will be sure to stop in more frequently in hopes for some more great finds. Thank you for the bargains! read more

This is a post of warning to other sellers. Please read the story below, if you want the summary only it's that they are dishonest and rude. I had brought in my never-worn mink coat to be sold. Within a week I had an estimated selling price to which I agreed, which upon the sale would be split between us. 3 weeks later, when I happened to be in the area, I dropped by to check in on the status. My coat wasn't to be found in the store, the staff looked all over and it still wasn't found. So they said that it must've been sold the previous day, however they could not find the records to support this. They said they'll check again and call me. A week later, with no one having called me, I called to check. They said that the coat was right there in the store. That makes me wonder where it could have been. No one knew. Few days later, having lost trust in their abilities, I went to the store to take my coat back. They said they had just sold it. However the price was already 25% reduced, as the contract stated, due to having been there for more than 30 days. Then it had been reduced further due to a "VIP" discount , which was not in the contract. In the end, I received about 50% of my cut of the original agreed upon price. Please take warning. They may take items off the racks to lower the prices, they have poor organizational skills, and extremely rude. read more

I've gotten quite a few really great finds here. I go in just to look around anytime I'm in Ridgewood and I almost always walk out with something. I happened to go in on a rainy August day last summer. They happened to have just put stuff on a sale shelf and I scored an amazing deal on a beautiful designer bag I'd never be able to afford otherwise. I also got a summer dress for $42 on sale that I know retailed for over $300. They always have a great selection and the staff has been friendly and helpful every time I've been in there. read more

I consigned a brand new Monique Lhuillier black ball gown at Double Take Consignment Boutique (the tickets were still attached). I followed up on the sale status almost 3 months later and they said it's still here. They said nothing more. Nothing about it being given to charity if not sold at the three month date of consignment. When I called about the status of the sale of the gown at the six month point I was told my gown had been given to "Charity" per the contract. No one at the boutique had the courtesy to tell me when I followed up just before the three month period expired that my gown would be donated to charity. Never again will I deal with DoubleTake Boutique. They are unprofessional . read more

Thought this store had potential but was extremely wrong. I consigned 2 items, one being an expensive piece of designer jewelry and another being a shirt.... The sales Associate assured me that both items would either be sold or given back to me. 3 weeks later when I go to pick up my items the "manager" tells me that they have no record of my bracelet and that it was lost. This store stole one of my items and played it off like they lost it. I would not suggest shopping here or consigning anything because everyone is the definition of unprofessional. read more

If I could give it no stars, I would. As a FORMER seller, I can tell you that although they may state the following ..."donation policy for items that remain after printed expiration date" is an all out, blatant lie. I can tell you from experience that my "expired" items were not given back to me when I called to pick up. Rather, they were SOLD...NOT DONATED! I had a Brand New $300. James Perse jacket sell for $12 AFTER the expiration date...of which I got nothing because it was sold after the expiration date...and, which the policy clearly states (as per the owner) is supposed to be donated to charity! They also sold a brand new Forte Cashmere sweater which they were supposed to return to me when I called for it. That one fetched a mere $6.00! Of course anyone would LOVE to SHOP here when they are giving merchandise away! They cannot account for a Brighton handbag that was consigned to Englewood. Now, come on...you don't know if it was sold, misplaced or stolen??? One of the worst, for me, was an Emanuel Ungaro wool dress that I specifically called the store to tell them to pull it from the rack and NOT sell it. What part of "DO NOT SELL IT" didn't they understand? There was even a record of my request!!! The clincher is that they sold it for $5.00 (yes, five) dollars and gave me $2.00 (yes, two) dollars. Marci, the owner, said that she was sorry for the "MISUNDERSTANDING". There was never any misunderstanding at all. She knows full well what is going on in each of her stores and let's it happen, despite customer dissatisfaction. There is a sure-fire way to appease a customer, and that is to reimburse them what they are duly owed without question, discussion or argument. A store owner should want to make and keep customers, and make them happy in order to spread the word. It's the little fish that make the big fish bigger. Shame, shame... read more

Consignment shops seem to be popping up in Bergen County, which is fine by me (I'm a total bargain hunter who loves her labels). Located on the main drag of Ridgewood downtown, DoubleTake looks more like an upscale boutique than your standard consignment shop. The aesthetics did draw me in, but what hooked me was the relatively well curated selection. I scored a Giorgio Armani Collezioni blazer for only $70! I saw a tea-length Chanel overcoat, and my sister nabbed a Calvin Klein boyfriend blazer. They also have a rack of jeans, including Seven for All Mankind, Diesel, J Brand, Hudson... They did have a few Chanel bags and shoes, and the shoe offerings was very well organized, unlike some other consignment shops where they are just kind of jumbled together. The last time I visited a consignment shop was in college, but DoubleTake dispelled the notion of the consignment shopping experience making you feel like you were in someone's basement or attic. I definitely recommend shopping in the store vs. visiting their website - the store has a lot more to offer. Also, the employees and manager are all such sweet ladies, and I can't wait to go back to scope any new offerings! read more
