While on an afternoon out with my daughter over the weekend, we needed a place to eat in downtown Huntington. We parked in the town lot and although I've lived in Huntington for many years, this was the first time I ever noticed the Double S Deli. I'm not sure how this happened but I consider myself fortunate to finally make it in. We only had an hour before we needed to get home so something quick was in order. There is a very small bar height counter near the front door with seating for three or four so this made our getting sandwiches here possible. For my little girl a ham and cheese with mayo on a hard roll. For me, a hot pastrami sandwich. Both were fresh and flavorful, nicely sized. Throw in a bag of chips and a strawberry milk and we had a nice low-key lunch and it didn't break the bank. $31 plus tip for the counter crew and we were well fed and happy. Best service and they have everything you could want from the best bacon, egg, and cheese to every kind of sandwich. I live right around the corner and didn't even notice it looking good or interesting and a client of mine that is from a nearby town said that I live by that deli. It's his favorite deli and he gets egg white sandwiches. This is a very discerning person so sure enough we go there now for everything. I didn't even think of them for chicken noodle soup when my daughter was sick but when we finally found that they sell it, we got the best soup with huge pieces of chicken. Great deli. read more

I'm new in the are and was looking to get some food. I walked in and took the place in. There is an extensive sandwich listing and you can get anything they can make. I ordered a chicken cutlet hero. It is always a good choice on Long Island. I was not disappointed. The wife enjoyed her panini. They had a coffee machines and coolers galore. I plan on going back and seeing them soon. I have to find a new go to deli for all the normal long island egg sandwiches and heros. I think everyone knows that it is one of the most important businesses to find. That and a diner. Consistently great egg sandwiches and friendly ladies at the counter! Some simple seating outside along the side of the building..or two window seats inside. Definitely good meatball parm compared to other nearby places. Everytime i go, i'm pleasantly surprised. $5 minimum on cards. Wish they would use paper cups for coffee instead of styrofoam. Quick sausage and egg sandwich, deliciously served up by a pleasant gal. Price was right and the split pea soup was really good also. There are a few stools to sit down and eat at also, but this def a takeout place. I had the iced tea and it was quite tasty also. Nice affordable spot in an expensive town to eat in. read more

The bagels are poor, seems like a bagel you'd get out of state. The chicken salad was lousy, and the egg salad too.

I LOVE this deli. The employees are so kind and pleasant and the food is delicious and very fairly priced. I recommend the bacon, egg and cheese with ketchup!! I've also found that they serve breakfast later than most other delis.... I think the latest I got an egg sandwich here was around 2pm! I used to stop in here all the time for work, sometimes even breakfast. All the ladies are nice and always get my order correct. Only once they forgot my fries, but I blame it on poor reception as I had called in my order and later went and picked it up. The food is always great, a little on the pricey side though. A turkey wrap and small fries with a Snapple, will run you about $15 and you can't use your debit card unless your order is over $10. Overall though it is a good deli. This place was a life saver back when we were renovating our kitchen. We picked up breakfast sandwiches from here daily for almost a year (that's not an exaggeration - we did the renovation work ourselves and ran into more than one snag along the way). Now we go whenever we want to pick up breakfast so we do still frequent this place. The owner and his staff here are so great. They are so friendly, so kind, they take the time to chat with you when things aren't busy (if you want). We got to know them and really, really like them. The food here is great, too...always a fresh avocado, always a fresh bagel or wrap or whatever you fancy. They write down your order on the back of your sandwich wrap right in front of you. This eliminates most mistakes so your food comes out exactly as you ordered it. The grill is front and center so you can see your food being made, which is nice because you can also see how clean the place is and that the staff working the grill are always wearing clean gloves. Be prepared to wait a few minutes if you come during very busy times, but they are super efficient and you will be happy when you do get your food. The coffee here is really good, too. I get decaf, which can often be not as good as regular because it doesn't move as much, but not here. Here the decaf is always good. Oh, and you make your coffee yourself so that it always has the perfect amount of half and half or whatever you choose to put in it (they have various milks, sugar, artificial sweeteners, honey, lemons). They also have a nice selection of teas to choose from if you prefer tea. I'm vegetarian so I cannot comment on their deli meats. read more
