I remember buying fruits from there when the CUESA farmers market was at the back of the Hyatt Regency Hotel as it was named back then. You get the drift. Various family members and friends man their booth on Tuesdays and Saturdays at the Ferry Farmers Market in San Francisco with the owners present Saturdays. My preference used to be shopping on Tuesdays to avoid the crowds and hustle bustle tourists. Due to the dwindling selection Tuesdays and a lesser crowd due to the pandemic, Saturdays are not as bad as normal, not to say I like it this way. On the first Saturday in March, I noticed that a few customers buying some flowers and, with Chinese New Year just wrapping up and the Cherry blossom season about to start, I bought a bunch for my family. They turned out to be peach blossoms (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=wdzZ2zYvI1lC-nB5zGEyOQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); my mom and her caregiver immediately recognized them and I, being the naiive one, felt like I just learned how to change a lightbulb. They are a nice addition to our living room with some of the Chinese New Year's plants withering away and my Costco tulip plant already blooming and long gone. With it being March, a tweener time fruits wise, they no longer have a stand on Tuesdays and likely will not be back until April when stone fruits begin to be harvested. Apricots, peaches, nectarines are the probably next to hit the market. And with the warmer weather, the increasing number of vaccinated people, and a general feeling of somewhat normalcy, things are beginning to look a little brighter now. Before you know it, it'll be cherry season. Can't wait!

There is an problem: The jars of nut better are under-weighted, by up to 15%, and it varies from jar to jar. I recommend bringing a scale to weigh the jars, and buy the heaviest jar. If you get stuck with an under-weight jar, ask for a discount. The pistachio butter jar says 341 grams, but the last jar I bought was only 292 grams. It's cheaper to buy Fiddyment Farms pistachio paste on Amazon.

For those of you that don't know, Winters is a smaller farm town located in a more rural part of Yolo County. It lies east of Lake Berryessa, north of Vacaville, and west of Davis as its town is adjacent to the Putah Creek. Located directly on Grant Ave (Hwy 128), this fruit stand is a standalone business with no other neighboring businesses in the area. They offer a small parking lot; however it is unpaved and has loose gravel directly outside. Regular business hours are 11am-5pm Wednesday through Monday as they are closed on Tuesday. I had the opportunity coming here as I was passing through and decided to stock up on some fresh fruit. I've got to say that the fruit selection here was quite impressive as they had a generous amount of peaches, oranges, nectarines, apples, lemons, limes, grapefruit, and squash. There was also an abundance of walnuts, cashews, almonds, dates, and figs as well as numerous jars of honey (in all flavors), almond/oat/pistachio butters, olives, and olive oil. During my visit which was during the morning of Saturday 6/17/2023 at around 11:30am, I ended up getting several spring snow-white peaches, honey crisp apples, and a jar of almond butter to take home with me. The three ladies working behind the table were in an upbeat mood that were very friendly during my short visit. Considering this place started over 100 years ago in the 1920's (in Sunnyvale, CA), they have come a very long way while mastering the art of growing only the freshest fruits from their fields. All in all, "Winters Fruit Tree" scores a unanimous five-star rating from me as the selection, freshness of the fruit, reasonable prices, and above average customer service all scored high marks in my book. So if you're ever passing through the Winters area, go check them out!

Had a family friend visiting Sacramento for the first time from Texas, and I wanted to give her something "California" and "farm-to-table" and nothing terribly perishable or hard to transport in carry-on luggage (like olive oil or honey). I immediately thought of them for their fruits and nuts! Ikeda's Davis was my second pick, but not much on their online store. It was super easy and convenient to place an online order on the Cal Yee Farms web shop, and I went with the "Deluxe Gift Basket" (Item# 3001) which had: [Dried] Apricots, Pears, Nectarines, Peaches, Prunes, Tangy Peaches-Pear Rolls, Cranberries, and Roasted and Salted Pistachios ($55+S&H). Order placed on a Wednesday, email order confirmation received. I called the next day to ask about information regarding order-specific shipping speed/times/tracking, and the lady had shipped it out Thursday for Friday arrival in Elk Grove. Awesome! It did arrive on Friday in great condition. Apologies for not having a photo of the actual basket it came in. I've not yet been to the farm in person, so I can't comment on the ambiance of the store, but I do mean to check it out in the future. You can also order by phone. Note that they're only open M-F, 8A-5P.
