I was totally nervous using a dealership's service department, because Dodge messed me up bad. (I had a dodge years ago, but I have a Toyota now.) Toyota in Lake Charles took my car in quickly the other day and was so kind and courteous. They even charged less than originally quoted. That makes me feel better ...like they won't charge for extra stuff or try to find more wrong just to make more money. My car came back today in great shape and I'm glad. The radiator was split with possible damage to the engine. I left the car with them to replace the radiator and then test for additional damage to the engine. They then drove me and my wife to the airport to rent a car (not going into that saga now but no cars available from anyone yet Avis managed to majically make one appear). We continued on our trip and my car was ready when we returned. Mike had kept in touch daily so I already knew that the engine was ok and just the radiator had needed repair. I couldn't ask for more caring and helpful service having been stranded in unfamiliar territory. By the way, while I didn't see much of Lake Charles, all the people I met remind me of what true southern hospitality means. I was concerned that the price was high (although cheaper than the alternatives) so I looked it up on the internet after getting home. The price was on the high end of the expected range but within the range so I can't complain. I am sure there are cheaper places around but I doubt there are any beetter. If I ever have a car problem in Lake Charles I'll go back to Family Auto & Quick Lube Services. The only thing I think I'd suggest they change is the length of their name.

Pumpelly, whom I had used for tires and repairs on 3 vehicles from 1977 to 1987 before I moved away, have always been honest owners and mechanics, did not charge me one penny. Many shops would have charged a diagnostic fee. They will keep my business now that I am back home with 2 vehicles.
