I love supporting businesses like these. Kee in mind that this is an old school so it is noisy when you walk. The floors are the original from the school. When someone showers you will know. The beds are comfortable and will be provided with plenty of pillows and blankets in case you get cold. One thing i will recommend to the Duarte's is to have an area where to hang out. I mean not only the foyer where the puzzle is but may be in the foyer in the last floor? Like a small couch and a small table? We picked up some dinner - to eat at our lodging place and we had nowhere to seat and eat our food. There is outside but it was too cold to do so. Overall, it is a nice place to stay. We enjoyed it. It was very clean!

We drove from Spokane National Airport to Glacier National Park and this was a great halfway point in Bonner's Ferry Idaho. For the past three years, the B&B has been a family-owner business spanning over 3 generations. All the family members we interacted with are extremely friendly and made you feel at home. We were greeted by Jerry and Frank (the first gen of the bunch) at check-in. Jerry walked us through the property and told us more about the history of the B&B. We were also greeted with the most delicious cookies which was great after a long drive. Pool is closed sometime during September but the hot tub is open year round. Throughout the hallways and rooms, you'll see trinkets and photos of remains from the school which is really neat. The second floor used to have 2 large classrooms which have been converted to 6 rooms, each with their own bathroom suite. We stayed in room #7 which was the 'french theme' but Jerry told us they are converting to a 'geography' theme by next spring. The room has very high ceilings and there's a TV with Netflix available. Breakfast started at 8:30AM and you're seating based on your room number in pairs. We were served by the 2nd and 3rd get family members with coffee, orange juice and a delicious breakfast of egg quiche, fruit, and a homemade cinnamon roll. It was delicious! Northside B&B is also very conveniently located to downtown Bonner's Ferry - only about a 10 minute walk. We made our way down there to walk through the street before taking the second half of our drive. Overall it was such a lovely stay!

If you are looking for a more quiet spot to sit in the porch and watch the sky, ask for the rooms in the back. Absolutely stop by and enjoy a good night's sleep at the Lake Creek Inn.

The main drawback at this time of year is the mosquitoes due to the standing water throughout the woods. They provide you with various repellents which helps, but I was still covered in mosquito bites when I left. The only noise besides the songbirds is a train which goes by occasionally. The accommodations are well supplied and well-kept, with a kitchen stocked with everything you need to cook. You can get some veggies from their garden for a dinner salad, including garlic spirals which are an interesting twist on chives. We cooked a simple meal over the open fire, which had a clever grill contraption to cook the food on. Water is pumped from a tank behind the kitchen. There is a clean and not smelly outhouse complete with hand sanitizer and old magazines. The breakfast was hearty - eggs (fresh from the chicken coop), bacon, pancakes, and of course homemade huckleberry jam. Even the apple juice they press and can themselves. The company was pleasant, with groups from two other tents. Since there were three of us, they sent up an extra tent for me next to my parents tent. In short, if you want the experience of camping near a farm, without the hassle of packing and pitching a tent, then this might be the place for you. I would give it 5 stars, except that I'm still scratching the mosquito bites.

The spots are level, that's important in a small rig like ours. The place is super clean and the bathrooms are a dream! The folks in the campground are mostly just passing through and some are there for a couple days to enjoy all the outdoor activities. Those there for awhile are super friendly and helpful, we me several in our little world of chaos! The owner though, he's the real hero of this little haven! We arrived later in the evening only to find an entire group of folks in our spot. Well, what we thought was our spot!! We called the after hours number and one of the folks actually texted the owner for us. Lo and behold, in the year and a half on the road, I had mixed up the reservation date! We were scheduled to be there the day before and they were full that night! The owner found us a spot to park though, luckily with a plug in since it was so hot!! On a recommendation from a local, who raved about the burgers here, I stopped in on a way back from a day hike. First, there's nice, covered outdoor seating -- a promising start. To get there, though, you have to trash the suspension of your vehicle via the dirt driveway that had potholes big enough to swallow any of the local moose population. This is a four-wheel, off-road ride kind of entrance. Despite that, the ramshackle building still looked like fun in the way a dive can be fun. As I walked in, I was assaulted by the smell of stale cigarettes. Uh-Oh. There's no smoking inside any more, but years of being a smoking establishment leaves that smell permeating everything. I suppose once the party starts, and the place is busy, and I've had enough to drink, I wouldn't notice. The menu is limited, and on Tuesday's it's an all you can eat taco buffet and you can have anything you want as long as it's a taco; but I wasn't there on a Tuesday and wanted the burger the local recommended. The burger was okay, cooked the way I asked, but not worth the wait -- at least 30 minutes -- even when there were no more than six customers in the entire place and only two of us who were there to eat, not drink. The bartender probably figured out our tip wouldn't include bottomless alcohol and didn't spend much time with customer service -- evidenced by bringing out the orders of some to-go customers who came in after us and ordered after us. Aside from the bartender, the other patrons were funny, recognizing me as an outsider and dishing out the requisite insults. I don't know, maybe I need to go back sometime when I can sit outside or drink myself stupid -- enough so I can overlook the other stuff anyway.
