My girlfriend and I needed a little escape. Northside School Bed & Breakfast was the perfect place to do it. We arrived to check in and the owner gave us a tour of the place. She was very nice, informative and the perfect hostess. We got to look around before she showed us to our room which was a beautiful lavender color with a high ceiling. She explained that the rooms were being redone in school themes. We went into downtown for dinner and when we came back, there was homemade brownies waiting for us. Our evening was very relaxing with time spent in the hot tub and a dip in the magical pool. The bed comfortable, the room peaceful. The next morning, coffee and breakfast was served in the old cafeteria room. It was nice visiting with three generations of family while eating a well put together home cooked breakfast.

We stayed here two nights for our girls trip. Very family friendly! My daughter is 5 years old and enjoyed every minute in the pool! In the evenings, the adults enjoyed a glass of wine (we provided) on the deck, overlooking the pool and river valley. Breakfast was excellent both days and the family/staff is super friendly! Rooms are clean and each one is unique! This place was definitely what we needed. Relaxation!!! We would absolutely stay here again! (And order the cookies when you make your reservation- best peanut butter cookies we had ever had)!

Room 7...not a great representation in the photo, but a great room.

Talus was eclectic, artistic and it felt like we were a guest in somebody's amazing house. It was a midweek stay. Maybe there was another couple there. We had the house to ourselves. That night we saw deer grazing out back and it snowed overnight. We woke up to a beautiful scene which included a few people ice skating on the frozen pond. We were in the Kipling suite which had a jet tub big enough for two people to swim is. It had a mini fridge, microwave, small coffee maker with coffee. A definite off the norm place to relax. On a side note, had an over the top dinner at 113 Main.

Hi Heather, Thank…read moreyou for taking the time to respond and engage with the feedback--it's clear you care deeply about the property. We hope that on a future visit, you might experience TRR from the perspective of a first-time guest--someone arriving with the hope of finding a peaceful retreat, but instead feeling somewhat like they've unexpectedly stepped into someone else's private space. While you see meaningful memories and personal touches, guests may interpret these items, photos, and instructions differently. The feeling of intrusion was heightened when the resident innkeeper prepared their own family's meal in the middle of the great room, making the shared space feel less like a guest retreat and more like someone else's home with lingering odors. There's so much to love about the property--the architecture and setting are truly stunning. With a bit of refreshing (particularly in terms of dusting all the bric-a-brac) and a shift in focus back toward creating a getaway experience, TRR could easily return to the high ratings it once enjoyed--as a place where guests can relax, reset, and grow.

Each room is meticulously appointed with every possible item you could need or want, including a little mini fridge and freezer and Coffee and tea bar. The grounds are spectacular and include hundreds of flowering plants and herbs and huge old trees. At night, all you hear is the sound of the lapping of the lake. I spotted a few eagles from my balcony. Denise and Carey are wonderful hosts. When you arrive, Denise gives you a detailed overview of the property, the numerous amenities, and help with choosing a restaurant. After that, she leaves you to enjoy your privacy. If you need anything, all you do is text Denise and she responds right away. There are many places to hang out on the property, including on the dock, or on the patio in the shade, or on your balcony if you have the upstairs rooms. If you're wondering why there aren't many yelp reviews, that's because there are many reviews on Google. This is by far one of the nicest places I have ever stayed, and I highly recommend it. Be sure to stay for at least two nights! There's a ton of lake activities in the area, and you might just want to spend a day lounging around the property.

She made sure we were completely comfortable and had everything we need. She was very clear and concise on the rules which I appreciated. The entire house was very well out together. Super clean and roomy as well. I appreciated how well the walls blocked out sounds from the other rooms. I wouldn't have even known anyone was there if I hadn't seen them. Bed was comfortable, got enough pillows, and I slept like a baby! I had a wonderful time exploring their property. The St Mary River literally runs right though their backyard. It's one of the most gorgeous backyards I've ever seen. I didn't see much wildlife, but I would bet it's an awesome spot for viewing if you have binoculars. Now the best part of a B&B: Morning came and there was a fresh pot of coffee ready and in the fridge, a delicious breakfast. Homemade spinach quiche with turkey sausage, scone and berries with yogurt. It was delicious! If you're looking to park your rv in one of the most magical places in all of Montana, you can rent a spot for $35/$45 depending on what electrical you need. Full hook ups included. And the host, Jim, is the best part. But I'll get to that. The rooms at this beautiful B&B are only $100 a night. Jim could EASILY charge $300 a night. Breakfast is included, and you have a private balcony overlooking the most beautiful valley I've ever seen. There are only 3 rooms available. And despite knowing he could charge way more, Jim wants to keep the rooms affordable so that anyone can enjoy them. I was passing through in my RV and it was getting late and I saw his large parking lot. I called him in hopes that he would have a quiet spot for me to park in, and I was more than happy to pay him. The voice on the other end of the phone was warm and welcoming, and said "sure come on by!" I never imagined he would have full hook ups and give me a guided tour of his beautiful bed-and-breakfast that he built by hand himself. Jim is one of the kindest, most welcoming people I've ever met. He made me feel like I was talking to an old friend. In the morning we stood on the huge balcony and had coffee together, watching the birds flutter about UNDER us. That's how high up you are!!! I really hope to be passing through again sometime.
