It was 8:30 am and even though I sent a picture he said he would be over by 11 am to make sure it's priced correctly and he can determine much more accurately the number of guys to send. He got here at 10:45 and in 5 min gave me an excellent quote and said 2 guys would do the job in 2.5 hrs. We set a date 4 days later at 8 am. The two guys arrived at 7:50 am. We went to the tree and discussed what I wanted done. I offered to help but they said they had it handled and they would come get me when done. They came to my front door when done and took me around back to check it out and make sure I was pleased. They were polite and professional. They had all the proper tools needed to do the job. They hauled away all the trimmings. They not only raked the gravel but blew off that entire side of the yard. They also managed the entire job without damaging any of the 5 large prickly pear cactus, 2 birds of paradise, and 1 mini palm tree that are all within 1-5 feet from this tree. It's a family run business, his crews are covered by his insurance while on your property. One hour after they left, Billy V (owner) called to follow up to make sure I was satisfied and to answer any concerns I may have. He also thanked me for the business. Multiple mature, full, flowering shrubs were cut down into stiff, unnatural box-like shapes with most of the blooms removed. The entire look of my yard was drastically changed in a single visit. This is not professional landscaping - it's careless and shows a lack of basic pruning knowledge. When I contacted the owner about it, my concerns were dismissed and he hung up on me. Save yourself the frustration and go with a more competent company. Photos speak for themselves. ***Update***: The owner's response speaks for itself. Rather than addressing the legitimate concerns about the quality of work, he chose to attack me personally and publicly, calling me disgustingly rude and telling other businesses never to work with me. Pieces were overlapping, with huge gaps everywhere. I ended up spending hours outside with scissors trimming overlapping edges and filling in the bare spots myself. Now I have to water more often than I should need to and even then it struggles. The lawn is so uneven that some areas pool with water while others dry out. When I voiced concerns about the lumpy install, James brushed it off and said, "No one else has ever been concerned about the lawn being level." As if expecting level ground after spending thousands makes me high-maintenance. The sprinkler system was just as poorly done -- only a few pop-ups, most of which spray the house or the fence. None are flush with the ground, and coverage is totally inadequate. Bottom line: You could save a lot of money by hiring the neighbors kids and get the same quality and craftsmanship, maybe even better.
