My partner has gone to this barbershop off/on for years. He lets his hair grow out then gets to that point of "f**k it's too long I need to go to the barber." He used to go to someone here who disappeared. He tried to book, and they just weren't here anymore. As anyone who develops a relationship with a barber, hairstylist, whatever, you know how it feels when that one person truly understands how you like your hair done, and all your odd cowlicks or whatnot. Then having to create a new relationship and build trust with someone else - it's not only hard, it's scary af. He bit the bullet to return to his old trusty barbershop after exploring a few salons and booked Ryan Fields because he showed work that resembled hair like what he personally likes on himself. First appointment went great. Ryan was efficient, timely, funny, down-to-earth, and gave him the hair he honestly was afraid someone wouldn't nail the first time because new person. He decided to schedule another appointment with Ryan and did so online. On the day of his appointment he drove from Bellflower to the valley, walked in, only to be told that no such appointment existed, and Ryan doesn't work there. Here's the thing: Ryan was still working there, and this barbershop intentionally was barring people from booking with him, to steal his clients. If you're looking for a barber and it's anyone other than the main people, I'd avoid getting too comfortable. =/ read more

Wack service. My partner drove from the valley to for a beard trim the guy who answered the phone said it be $25. When he got there he was a little bit late and told the guy hey I'm sorry I'm late if you can't take me it's all good the barber then said no I'll take you and then proceeded to really rush through his beard trim resulting in these cuts and nicks on his neck. Not cool, The barber should have just turned him away and said no I won't have time, instead of dangerously rushing through a beard trim with a razor. Also when he got to the front the barber told him it was $35 instead of $25. Wack service all round. read more

In all my years that I have been getting my haircut, Mike is by far the worst barber. Also, he is overtly rude and has zero patience. I sit in the chair and within 25 minutes later, he is launching me out of it. He digs really hard on your head and the back of your neck. Mike left me with deep scratches all over my neck. He is not concerned about making the client feel comfortable. If you ask him to do something on your hair, Mike gives you this look of disgust, as if you did something wrong. Dude, that's your job! Today was my second time back to the shop. In my second cut from Erica. I really like her barbering and her style and taste for a guy 56 years old. I asked her to shave 10 years off my look and she did it! I can strongly recommend the only woman in the house, Erica, for guys looking for a great taper or other kind of cut. Literally just called this place to set an appointment. The guy who answered was so damn rude. Every question I asked him to clarify what times were available, he seemed extremely annoyed I was even asking. WTF. Literally was giving him my info to setup the appointment and just hung up mid convo cause I just imagined how bad of an experience it would be if I went in there and this guy was anything like the service I would expect when getting the actual cut. I'm guessing that either you too, have not been satisfied OR you'd like a more reasonable price for a classic, meticulously crafted cut. Today, I found DEBS. I had a meeting to go to in DTLA after having spent 3 weeks in India, needless to say, my hair was shabby. We've been coming here for about a year now and each time has been a positive experience. My teenage son gets his hair cut by Ryan, who is just about THE nicest and most professional barber he's ever had. It's a clean, hip little shop too...adorned with some great artwork and sports memorabilia. From what I can tell each time we go in there too, the guys getting their haircuts, trims, and shaves are looking pretty darn sharp too. VERY stylish. After couple of years taking my son to this place and referred some friends he wanted to charge us $35 fee for not showing when my husband had an emergency and he called several times in advance but no body picked up the phone and they didn't have an answer machine option to leave a message. Neil is a man of exacting perfection - he won't let you leave the chair with a half-assed haircut...no hair on your head will be left untouched. I love coming in here - the guys are cool, ther service is always A1, and you cant beat the beers they have in the shop. It's a real old school barbershop with sports memorabilia on the wall, great conversations, and most importantly, killer gentleman's cuts. Came in for a quick trim. It's a nice place, but definitely the worst hair cut I have ever had. I asked Mike to keep the length and just clean up the uneven growth. The chair was turned away from the mirror so I was not able to see how much was being cut. Unfortunately he decided to cut off about 75% of my hair in just a few minutes... Might be good to pay attention when asking what the customer is looking for. read more
