The shrimp fried rice was loaded with baby shrimp and flavorful. The orange chicken was mild, as I had ordered. Not too spicy. It came with white rice. Even my dog didn't eat the egg roll!! We ordered the chicken chow main and beef with broccoli....the food was gross. Midway through eating, my daughter found a hair in her food. We immediately stopped eating and that's when I tried to give my dog the egg roll and he didn't eat it. The food is some of the best Chinese cuisine in New Mexico. We of 3 had the lunch special menu. 2 Shrimp in Lobster Sauce and 1 General Tso's Chicken. You walk in & order at the front counter then find a table or booth. The soda fountain is self-service. $8.95 each Lunch specials come with choice of soup, egg roll, fried rice crispy thingys for the soup. It came out to $36. We drove 18 miles one way for this delicious Chinese food. Ten years ago I worked nearby and ate here almost daily. It is nice to see 2013 prices & how they maintained quality over the years. We ordered a truckload of food from Double Dragon for a combined birthday celebration for my husband and brother. We ordered egg foo young, chiw mein, chop suey, five spice and sesame chicken, fried rice and lots of dumplings and eggrolls. Everything I tried was great, and everyone else was quite satisfied. The shrimp egg foo young had lots of pleasantly large sized shrimp and was quite filling. The five spice chicken had a fantastic aroma upon opening it, and tasted just as good. Some of the packaging was plastic meal-prep style containers, which you could probably wash and reuse, the rest were the classic paper take-out boxes. The food was done and ready for pickup surprisingly quickly, considering the quantity. We spent about $30/person and had tons of leftovers so while it seemed pricey, it ultimately seemed worth it due to getting multiple meals out of it. We would definitely eat there again if we were in the neighborhood. read more

They closed indoor dining completely and are waiting for the Governor's orders to loosen to reopen the dining room. In the fifteen years I've lived in Rio Rancho, I never visited this restaurant. Until Friday, April 30, 2021. We ordered a Sesame Chicken with brown rice and House Special Lo Mein (lo mein noodles with shrimp, pork, and beef). In addition, we had a coupon for six crab rangoon (wontons stuffed with imitation crab and cream cheese). HOT TIP: visit their website and print out your favorite coupons. When we opened the plastic containers at home, the food still remained hot. My lo mein noodles had good firmness and they weren't stingy with their meat. They filled the container with lots of food and I wasn't hungry after eating my dish. My wife didn't like the spongy feel of the sesame chicken and thought they used too much breading. The crab rangoon had a crispy outside and the fake crab and cream cheese inside tasted delicious. We paid $24.98 for our meal, a bit pricey, but with the coupon you get a lot of food for that price. Another HOT TIP: go there for the lunch special, Monday through Saturday, 10:30 AM till 3 PM. For $6.45, you get your choice of a main dish, egg roll, soup, and fried rice! Oh my gooosh. No no no. We ordered take out, the food looked delicious but it's not as flavorful as it looks. I ordered the beef with broccoli and chicken with garlic. The chicken had a lot of big chunks of celery, there was a few other pieces of vegetables in there, some that I couldn't tell you what it was. They forgot to give us our soup. This is the best Chinese food I've had in a VERY long time. I couldn't stop eating this last night when I got it and I just had the leftovers for breakfast. It was the first thing I thought about when I woke up this morning. I figured this restaurant definitely deserves a review. I've ordered take out from here twice and both times, the food was excellent! I'm a sucker for hot and sour soup, but most restaurants make them too salty, too thick or with very little tofu, meat and mushrooms. The Double Dragon's hot and sour soup is heaven! It's exactly what I expect when I think of hot and sour soup. Just the right amount of tang with umami and enough tofu, pork and mushrooms for texture. Both the Chicken with Garlic Sauce and Four Seasons were so very good! The chicken was cooked so tender and the veggies had just the right amount of tender crispness. The garlic sauce was flavorful and most importantly, the dish was not swimming in oil. I like my food a little spicier though, so I might ask for extra spicy next time. The Four Seasons was equally good, with the chicken, beef and shrimp cooked to perfection. Nothing was over cooked, especially the shrimp! Again, the sauce was very tasty and not too oily. I was expecting the pork to be just sliced pork, but no biggie. I just picked out the char siu pork. The serving sizes are also very generous. You can easily get at least three meals out of each entree. Very well worth the price. I've never dined in, only ordered through GrubHub. I always expect the food to be a little cold when I get it, but it's always been piping hot and fresh. I live 20 min away from the restaurant. Definitely stop by Double Dragon to dine in, get take out or get delivery. The food is worth it! It's my favorite Chinese restaurant in town. I wasn't kidding when I said the leftovers were the first thing I thought about when I woke up this morning. I still have at least one more serving. This is our go to Chinese takeout restaurant, good food (really recommend the shrimp rolls and the five spice chicken!) We done in store take out and door dash and never had a bad experience. On the couple of times they were out of something we door dashed they called us directly to work out a substitute as opposed to just cancelling the item. Haven't had a bad item from here yet. Since I haven't gone in a while I figured I'd pick some up. they were almost raw and extremely pink and I had never seen it before. We have been ordering Double Dragon for years & have always loved it. We have yet to have a bad experience until now. We ordered take out and were not sure what happened, but the food was so bland. I ordered egg drop soup; it was so thick and had zero flavor. The fried dumplings were greasy like they had been cooked the day before & then refired to heat. The rice was so different, nothing like we've had before zero flavor on that too and the color was so off almost looked like they put yellow food coloring in it. I don't know if they had a new cook or what happened but it was the first time we had ever been disappointed. Will we go back? Probably I'm just hoping they had a off night. What a little gem! Went here for the first time tonight. The food was excellent. Fresh, hot, very flavorful. I had the Four Seasons. Husband had Happy Family & son had Orange Chicken. Everything was fresh, hot & tasty. You can dine in, but you do get your food in to-go containers. It's a small family running the place so I understand no dine-in service. But at least you can sit down there if you want. And I will say, the food here at Double Dragon is WAY better than any Chinese food restaurant in Santa Fe. And that is the honest truth. read more

We get take out from D2 about every 10 days or so. The food is consistent in being fresh. It's a very popular option in my neighborhood. I never see more than about 4 people working there. For the amount of take out that they do, they need to be better organized when picking up your food. I've always been happy with the food here. It has always been take out for us, and we've never had any problems. The food is what you expect. It's junk food and it's delicious. The Singapore noodles are fantastic, it's my favorite think to order there. The crab Rangoon are HUGE and very good. I don't even use the sweet and sour sauce, they don't even need it. Chicken is hard to mess up so my wife always gets the orange chicken and the pork fried rice is moist and tasteful. I've never had problems with my fried rice being too salty. While visiting my family, we had a stay at home night. This restaurant was suggested and agreed upon. We decided to call in the order and pick it up. When we picked up the order it was stapled inside of a paper bag so it was really hard to make sure we got what we ordered. Of course when we got home we were missing an entire meal. We called and let them know and they delivered the missing meal to us. they also included some extra goodies (wonton crisps, rice, spring rolls) to apologize for the mistake.
