I ordered an al pastor, lengua, and asada taco, and honestly, they were all so good. The asada was my favorite, but the other two were right behind it. The meat was flavorful, and the salsas had some heat to them, which I appreciated!!! My boyfriend ordered the chicken burrito, and it was just okay. The chicken was shredded and could've used a little more seasoning for my taste. I'm also not a huge fan of lettuce in a burrito, so that may have played a part in it not being my favorite. That being said, I'm definitely coming back because those tacos were SO good. Next time, I want to give the burrito another shot and order it my way. If it's anything like the tacos, I have a feeling it'll be a winner.

Al pastor is on the more firm side rather than fatty soft pieces, I think it's a decent balance although would've liked a bit more soft (personal preference). I would come back if I was in this part of Austin again, and was really craving some reliable tacos. It's not impressive enough for me to go out of my way to eat, but it's a really good choice if you're passing through already. They're also very quick to get the food out, and the seating area is outdoors but has fans in some spots.

Austin Restaurant Week takes place from August 28th through September 13th. First stop...Rollin Smoke BBQ, located in the Chalmers building, which filled with a crowd of people. I ordered a pull pork sandwich, mac-n-cheese and banana pudding. The pulled pork sandwich was huge, which I shared with the hubs. Quite honestly, I was full after eating 1/4 of the sandwich, which had cabbage, pickles and of course the pork (not the typical stringy pork but chunks of pork bursting with smokey flavor). The mac-n-cheese was substantial with cheese filled shell pasta with a hint of a smokey flavor. So yummy...Well, I might have eaten "all" the banana pudding. This was not your typical banana pudding (dense and flavorful). I certainly understand why they run out of this dessert. Service was superb! Great dining experience...

I order a very nice lite afternoon snack, 1/2 lb of Prime Pork Belly Burnt Ends, 1 Pork Sparerib, and a side of Boozy Brussels. The Prime Pork Belly Burnt Ends which are tossed in bourbon sauce and smoked again for a tender meat candy-like finish which was quite to the contrary, not overbearingly sweet, just a hint. The first time that I went to Rollin' Smoke, I wanted to order the Pork Spareribs but they weren't available so that's when I was introduced to the Pork Belly Burnt ends so today, I ordered just 1 Pork Sparerib today which was good but not great, sadly. I thoroughly enjoyed the Boozy Brussel Sprouts which were smoked and flashed fried, a balsamic glaze with whiskey soaked raisins and parmesan. I am definitely returning to check out the Half Chicken Plate with 2 small sides that I eyeballed.

Smith & Smith Farms and Hackamore Ranch. Got my eggs, which were a little smaller this week, but with that is also a price break. $5.00 each dozen. Also got some ground lamb and cubed steak. I think it took me longer to find parking than it actually took to get what I needed. The parking is always hard down here, which is why I'd rather go to the Cedar Park location. I should be good for the week.

Farmers markets are supposed to be welcoming, family-friendly spaces where local vendors, farmers, nonprofits, faith groups, and community members can come together safely and respectfully. Unfortunately, I witnessed something that made the environment feel anything but welcoming. There was a small religious group with a table at the market, and as someone passed by, they shouted offensive racial and religious slurs at the men working the table. It was completely uncalled for. Rather than engaging in any kind of respectful conversation, this person chose to be hateful and intimidating in a public community space. I understand that the organizers may not be able to identify or remove every person who behaves this way, but I do think the market should be more proactive about making its expectations clear. A farmers market should feel safe for everyone, including vendors and community organizations that may be more likely to face harassment. Clear signage, public reminders, or stronger policies against hate speech and intolerance would go a long way. I hope the organizers take this seriously and make it clear that racism, religious intolerance, and harassment are not acceptable at this market. The community deserves a space that truly feels supportive, inclusive, and safe for all.

Parking in the close in garage is $8 so if you bring friends, it can price out to a decent price for friends and all to carpool together. I'm pretty sure if I didn't have a budget to not blow my allotted amount of eating out, I'd have one of everything and roll myself down the hill. Bring a large blanket to lay out on the grass, chairs to sit in should you want. Side note: they are sticklers for NO dogs on the pavement but they can certainly be on the grass. There were koozies given out by Austin Brew Company and paper fans and bug repellant, as well as doggy treats and doggy poop bags from the nearby highrise, The Catherine, marketing their beautiful new place to live. I'm sad they're done for 2015 but cannot wait to see this event back next year! Foodies rejoice, this town has got it goin' down! Beer in one hand, food in the other. They watch you like a hawk even before you get near the steps. 2.Cheaper to bring your own cooler of drinks. Those are the reasons why I'm at a toss up on going sometimes. So I've been there on a weekend (they had it on a weekend once) and I've been here on the actual tuesday. They trucks change each time. I like that we can atleast say we have tried it and got an idea of what the truck is like. The prices are a bit high for what you get. It's just a great thing to do if you are social or want to be social or to meet up with friends under the stars or to have a romantic fun time. If you can't handle that maybe you need to go visit them at their regular places and enjoy the truck experience more there. hope that helps.
