The crown actually fell out into my mouth while waiting for them to reopen. I was treated very well and everything was explained. Multiple visits due to needing a graft. Thought a long time about leaving a review. I had my gums done about 2 years ago. This was always…read morean insecurity if mine and I finally figured out how to pay for it as insurance does not cover it. About 6-8 months after, I felt my gums hadn't looked as I wanted them to and just wasn't overall too happy with the result. So I called back and made an appt. I thought maybe my gums were growing back maybe since my teeth had looked different from the pictures I took right when I got the procedure (once it healed). To note, this was over $5,000 and I still felt guilty saying I wanted it touched up. Dr. Shapiro was nice but she told me they looked fine and charged me $50 for the appointment. I cried the whole way home. 2 years later, I'm looking into getting the procedure again with a different doc which will be another $5,000. While my experience was great the first time, I felt swept to the side when I wanted to go back even though this procedure took me forever to financially recover from. But I felt since it was my smile it mattered and I wanted to love it. Just for others who may be saving for this, make sure you advocate for yourself.

IN 2013 or 2015 Dr. Pirie gave me a dental implant. Again he did an excellent job. He used my own stem cells for the implant. He went to Italy to learn the operation for dental implants using the patient's own stem cells. Using the patient's own stem cells greatly reduces the risk of infection. In 2013 to 2015, as far as I know most dentists in Rhode Island were using cow stem cells for dental implants. I need a few dental implants now. Again I choose DR. PIRIE for the operation. They made an appointment for the fitting, which was supposed to be on September 23rd. We were contacted today, September 18th, letting us know that our insurance would not authorize the treatment without trying a CPAP first. I spent several hours speaking to different departments at our insurance company to find out the procedure and after much research and speaking with a high level supervisor, it was confirmed to me that we did NOT need any prior authorization, nor does my son need to try a CPAP before getting a mouth guard. When I called the office to discuss this with them, I was met with a rude women who would not allow me to speak. Who in fact told me that I could pay them $2500 upfront and then fight with my insurance company to be paid back. She was a receptionist...not even billing! Do not go to this dentist office is you would like to ask questions or advocate for yourself. They do not want to hear anything at all and think they know what they are talking about...not to mention WAY overpriced. I called my own dentist and asked about a mouth guard and was told is was only $1500 and we could submit the claim. Awful!!!
