My husband and I went to Lake Tahoe this past week for a couple days stayed at Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe Hotel. We walked down the street to check-out Dotty's Casino it looked like a studio apartment turned into a small Casino. The ventilation was horrible inside. You could literally taste the cigarette smoke when you walked inside. Just terrible!! Needless to say, we stayed no more than a 5 minutes. The beer was reasonably priced my husband liked that. Dotty's. Love going to play there. A place where you can mind your own business, find a machine and try to focus on winning. Been playing there for 10+ years. Due to my schedule lately, I've only been able to go there late nights, early mornings. All the employees know me by name and they all are kind and courteous except one. I never see him doing anything except interrupting the main cashier when he or she is swamped with customers making the wait in line more unbearable. When he walks the floor he will pick and choose who he helps. I have sat at machines that the ashtrays are full of cigarette butts, drinks half drank and spills everywhere. He will ask the gal next to me if he can get her anything, she'll order a drink and not ask me anything at all. Come back with her drink and it ask me anything and goes back to behind the main desk. Never clean the station I'm at. And this happens every single time I am there. No service at all from this guy. I took a break from playing one evening, went to use the restroom and he actually came into the restroom and said to me, "if you are not playing you have to leave Dotty's" I said I'm going to the restroom. He said "that's not my problem" totally rude ! I finished pissing and left. Came back the next night and again he told me to leave if I'm not playing. There were maybe 6 customers there at that time. 3am in the morning. And again I was was playing but stopped for just a moment to watch my friend next to me who just hit a bonus. He said if you are not playing you need to leave. This employee does nothing but kick customers out of your casino and nothing else. Last night there were 2 other players in the entire casino and my friend just walked up to me and said he's done for the night. I had 5 dollars left on my machine and said okay , let me finish this off and we'll go home. So rite then he comes up and kicks my 78 years old friend out of the casino and it's freezing cold out with about 60 mph winds. I said just one minute I'm almost finished, there no one even in here, why do you have to be such a asshole. I want the number to your supervisor. I followed him to the main desk and he flung a Dotty's card at me and said now you get out two. I want want this employee fired immediately. Plastic checkered tablecloths and potted plastic plants - its like grandma put a few slot machines and a bar in her living room. You are either going to love it or hate it - again - its so unique I love it for that. This is a locals casino. This is for people who hate big Walmart and Amazon. Interestingly enough Dotty's is fairly large corporation and I think the business model is to make it look 'mom and pop' when its not. So, my advice to anyone looking for work if you want to be just another number then Dottys w/b the ideal place but if you want to work for a company that recognizes & appreciates you as a person/employee then I strongly recommending to keep looking b/c whoever you are, you deserve to be valued as a person instead of a number. I've been going to Dotty's pretty regularly over the last 5 years. I both won and lost here but it's convenient and enjoyable. I stopped at Dotty's today to redeem some free play and was told I was 86'd for theft of a voucher. I was told to call their 800 number to get more information. I am appalled. I didn't steal anyone's voucher and am offended at the allegation. I have called their corporate number and was told someone may get back to me in 10-15 days. I'd like to defend myself but Dotty's shelters its management from interacting with the public. It's pretty scary how a company can do this and ignore the facts. read more

So my boyfriend decides to randomly surprise me and take me to South Lake Tahoe this weekend for a getaway and we stumbled upon this little GEM.. It's not much to look at from the outside but if you're down to earth and don't mind a smoky dive- like mini casino this is the PLACE. Just an update on previous review 2 days ago. I went in today and spoke with store clerk and area manager for fallon #17 dottys and have received a confirmation about the issue that dottys will no longer be printing out undelivered free play vouchers to anybody any longer. So it's official they blame the customer for undelivered mail to themselves. I don't get it, but I know I will no longer be playing at any dottys casinos or any of their sister casinos. They may have been able to keep the 1 to 2 hundred dollars I earned in free play, but in the long run, they will lose 10's of thousands from me alone annually. Good job. Morons of marketing at best. The shots and tots at dots are the best! Joey is a class act rockstar. Curl up in the cozy chairs by the rustic faux fireplace and enjoy the old fashioned country decor that consists of roosters, frogs and turtles. The drinks are very affordable! And the cheapest cigarettes in Tahoe. We enjoyed the patriotic decor with Stars and Stripes and the drought resistant greenery. We also enjoyed the free matches. Drinks brought to their table, friendly hello's and the cashier is immediate when there is a ticket to be cashed but me forget it, you going to wait BOY! I had to beg, for a drink, and to have my ticket cashed and then the cashier rudely walks away and acts like she had something else to do.
