Two highly enthusiastic thumbs up!…read more I saw Dr. Jones today to ask about getting my tonsils removed. I've seen a lot of doctors in my life, and this might just have been my best doctor visit ever. Dr. Jones has the kindest demeanor you could ask for, and was extremely thorough in the warnings and information he gave me about the procedure. I actually felt like he listened to me and genuinely cared about my concerns and about my health. This is the kind of doctor you always wish you had. I'm actually kind of excited to come back for my surgery in January! How often can you say that?!? In short, if you're looking for an ear nose and throat doctor who is kind and competent and will treat you like a human being, look no further. This is your guy.

We were not informed by Dr. Jones or his staff that we would be charged for this 1-minute look in our nose. I repeatedly called Loyola and Dr. Jones' office to no resolve. Dr. Jones did not inform us that looking at our nose would cost $1300 or considered a surgery. If he said surgery I would have stopped right there and said no, I need to talk to my insurance company. I did ask him why since we had CT Scans why couldn't just look at that. He runs up the bill with charges we were not aware of. He will not return all phone calls. His office states the doctor has no idea that there are charges for various procedures. I'm questioning if this is a violation of the False Claims Act but Dr. Jones has not returned my calls to discuss this.

Then I was recommended to visit Dr.Girgis. He took simple diagnosis steps. After my first visit I started noticing that I was breathing very unevenly, with obstructed flow on one side. On my second visit, Dr.Girgis pinpointed a suspicion and confirmed it with a quick CT scan showing an almost golf ball size cyst in my sinuses, as well as deviated septum. The cyst must had been growing slowly so I never detected a sudden change in my breathing. He recommended surgery to remove it and promised I will breathing much better afterwards. He advised that I will need to take a week off, and will take a few weeks to fully recover. I doubted that I will need a week off from my work, and we scheduled the procedure a few weeks afterwards. After surgery that went well and as planned (I was sleeping 3 hours or so), the healing process started. My nose kept bleeding but on the third day after surgery I experienced a short deep sleep that was the "Ah-ha! This is like it should be when you get a good night of sleep!" moment. I went back to work, and have aggravated my nose, and had difficult time coping with my constant nose bleeding that progressively slowly stopped by the 6th day. I was surprised when on the 6th day after surgery dr.Girgis pulled two 5 inch long plastic stems from my nostrils and a long draining tube... Hahaha. Two months after surgery my inner nose and its lining are almost normal, just a touch sensitive (well, the septum was cut and repositioned). At the end, it was all worth it. Girgis and all his staff were always very professional, and friendly. My breathing and quality of sleep has dramatically improved. And I got my life back, Big Thank You Dr.Girgis.

But then I was involved in a car accident that shifted my nasal septum even more causing my nose to look completely off. I went to Dr. Girgis & Associates so they can diagnose my nose. Dr. Girgis told me that with just the internal surgery I should notice a major difference in my breathing and my nose will look straight again. So I went ahead with the Surgery. The surgery went well and I recovered fast. The final outcome was YES I'm breathing much better but my nose still look slightly off but not as bad as before.

Every medical facility I've encountered since I've been paying for life on my own (30+ yrs) has a similar policy and oversleeping and knowing taking a congested roadway are all reasons to avoid a doctor? Seriously, yelp, edit out this stuff. A person with a laundry list of complaints that all start with "I messed this up...", "I made a bad choice..." should be weeded out from a fair doctor review. NONE of this has to do with quality of care. As to the mention of rude or impatient staff, I'll bet this was two sided, and by Friday afternoon we're all a little "done" with work. The staff who answer the phone answer for the building, not the doctor (which is VERY clearly mentioned on the phone). The office staff are pleasant, are willing to say "I don't know" then find out, and even found a spot for me when I showed up a week early for my appointment but with an obviously infected ear. Doctor Ortega always takes time to sit and talk to me. He'll explain anything I ask about, whether a procedure or just the process of what he's about to do over and over until I grasp it fully and am comfortable. He's also knowledgeable about medications and has given stellar recommendations to me for a dentist that could make me an affordable nightguard to help with TMJD. The later in the day your appointment, the longer the wait can be, but it's never been too bad. I've seen Doctor Ortega now for nearly a decade and have no complaints. The only reason I would NOT recommend him is because then more patients will make appointments and I'll have to wait. :) Oh, by the way, Dr Ortega is a very educated and intelligent individual. He's a MD but also a PhD.

I took York St. south at the peak of rush hour ( bad idea). However, I called the appointment desk to tell them I was running late and stuck in rush hour traffic. The girl at the appointment desk asked if I would be any more than 15 minutes late, then I would need to reschedule. She never mentioned that if it were a few minutes after that, that I would be charged - a no show fee of $40.00. When I reached the front desk at the doctors office I was told very rudely I might add that I would need to reschedule and that because it was more than 15 minutes late I was considered "a no show". Not once did anyone tell me I would receive a charge of $40.00, nor is the information in any of my emails. Very unethical in my book!

The staff is incredibly unreliable. They are rude and will give you sass if you ask a question. They will hang up on you. They always transfer you because they don't know HOW to help you. And as for the Doctors. I have been misdiagnosed by Doctors here. They always tell me, "I THINK you have-" as well as " I doubt it is-". They then proceed to ask me if I have any questions afterwards, for protocol purposes. They will tell me, "well if you had read the paper, it states". As someone who is not in the medical field. I can not understand the majority of what the paper states. In worse cases (majority), they will have the audacity to bill you. For what-Only to tell you what you already knew or that you needed to resolve the "issue" with some Tylenol.
