From the owner: The premise to taking a leap of faith and ending my contract with mega-hospital was to stop visits…read morethat would end with no plan for change. or the words "just take the prescription". My reason for venturing out on my own is I was brought up to serve others and I have an innate desire to find the root of disease and not just treat the effects. The national average for doctor visits is 15 minutes. Extending over the "Fatal Fifteen" (see blog DrRic Fatal Fifteen) can provide personalized lifestyle directions for the patient IN THE ROOM but makes everyone IN WAITING delayed. Then comes the monthly review from corporate saying I'm not seeing as many patients as the national average so "we'll have to reduce your salary!"? So now being solo without a large corporation/hospital backing me up...I can spend up to 1-1.5 hours establishing the fine details of life and designing a template so we both reduce dependence on prescriptions/surgeries AND ultimately reverse disease. Imagine that: fixing a patient so they don't need to come to the doctor anymore! Bad business model for hospital but I can't shake the innate desire to teach, empower, change and heal. The privilege of providing successful life changes to the community comes at a price; no medical insurance companies want me to fix lives unless I'm working for a large organization! The root word of "physician" is healer SO I would be very careful if your doctor doesn't mention/design changing life habits.

I appreciated all the great reviews of Dr. Boyd and after weeks and weeks of trying to find a…read moredoctor I think I can trust, they helped me decide she was the doctor for me. So I called for an appointment and was told she could see me on August 18 (today is July 2). I have prescriptions that have to be monitored and maintained, and I also have a very painful issues with my arm. I don't think either can wait for August 18. They are two separate appointments and they won't combine them: one is "to establish care" and the other is an illness visit. Once I see her as a "wellness visit" on August 18, I would be able to "get in quicker" to see her in the future. For now, if I'd like to be seen and monitored by "someone else" who has more availability in their schedule I could do that. Well, I've had a terrible experience with a doctor in Chicago that left me with ongoing medical issues that could have been prevented. So I did my research and selected someone I felt I could trust. I was so very lucky to have that in New Orleans (from where I just moved) and I just wanted that again. I don't really want to see "someone else" that I don't know anything about and waiting 6+ weeks to see a doctor I researched heavily. So while I can't really rate Dr. Boyd herself, this is a warning to those who are looking for a doctor: even though her site says she is accepting new patients, I don't think she really has time for them. Be sure you can wait six weeks before seeing her if you choose her. I get why she's busy -- she's good. But why advertise that you're accepting new patients when you really don't have time for someone who needs you?

Truth be told, I prefer younger, female, Family Docs (as opposed to Internal Medicine) - just as personal preference - but she's absolutely lovely. Kind. Attentive. Concerned. All the things you want in a GP. Oh - and one last thing: At my previous practice, there would be a HUGE wait - I mean, HOURS. (But heaven forbid you be more than 10 minutes late...they would cancel your appointment.) Not so with Dr. Boyd. I never feel rushed, either. She's genuinely a good MD. Seriously.

I am thankful for the healthcare professionals and care team at this location…read more From the registration staff, to technicians and medical professionals, even volunteers and security, I have typically had a positive experience. Only downside for me is the cost of care for tests, or things not covered by insurance. (Check out alternative places, like Bright Light Imaging for CT Scans or imaging). The halls and main spaces are kept clean and in order. I especially appreciate the staff in the Breast Care Center. They are very caring individuals. I also find it is a perk to have a nice Starbuck's in the lobby here too, so you can treat yourself to a hot or iced beverage after an appointment. And, this is your reminder ladies (and men) to practice self care and get checked regularly each year. You matter! And this is a nice place to go when care is needed.

My visit was to the lab. I didn't know where to go so, when I entered the building and saw the information desk, I asked. I was pointed to another desk just a little further into the building. When I got to the lab test, they greeted me pleasantly and I gave them the lab orders. They immediately took me back and ran the tests. I had the results from one test that afternoon, and the other required a few days so expect to hear about it next week. They were fast, pleasant, and I thought the quality of service was very good.
