I want to redeem this place from last time! The restaurant is under new management (per a sign out front) and I had the BEST experience! Nothing says Friday than afternoon margs! I got a skinny and my boyfriend got a large blue marg! He also got a shot of don julio 1942 and it was smooth! Can't go to a Mexican restaurant without chips and salsa which were hot and fresh as always, and the salsa has a little kick! Such a better experience! Also, the bathrooms are so nice! Our family loves Dos Teqilas! We've been multiple times and while they are pricier than the other area Mexican offerings, I'd say the quality of the food and the service make it well worth it. The dining area is small but we've never had to wait. The servers are friendly, attentive, and accommodating. Have gotten two Door Dash orders and food was excellent both times. Went last night to eat in for the first time. It wasn't crowded so we got seated immediately. It was relatively quiet, darkish with some colored Christmas light on the wall kinda ambiance with smooth jazz music; soothing. Our waitress/server was very friendly- quickly ordered and food came relatively quick too. Chips and queso was great to start. The queso was smooth and was milky/cheesy; nice! My husband had the steak fajitas, I had the steak nachos (I just get steak, nachos and cheese), and our daughter had steak tacos on corn tortillas. All excellent! Stopped in on my way out for an event. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants to chose from in Chelsea but this one is a bit different. They are clearly going for a more upscale vibe with the prices/ decor/ and plating. The service was extremely quick, the waiters are very friendly and accommodating. The food looks beautiful, and that is where it ends. The flavor is not there. Most Mexican places appeal the masses with their food simple familiar favors , while more high scaled ones go for fresh ingredients, unique experiences, a different way to see the cuisine. This fell somewhere in the middle. I wouldn't turn it down if a group of people were looking for middle ground but i won't be suggesting this as a place to visit either. Nothing really stood out. My husband and I dropped by for a night out and had a good experience. Our server was extremely friendly and efficient and we each had a very tasty margarita (I recommend the la familia). My husband got the steak burrito and said it was probably the best he's ever had and we brought home the shrimp and chicken quesadillas for my dad who also raved about his meal. I'm not quite as adventurous of an eater as the two of them so my chimichanga fell a little flat just based on my personal preference for Mexican food. I definitely would be willing to go back and try something new but if you are kind of picky like me, this may not be your top choice for Mexican. This is a hidden gem in Chelsea. It's located in the old Johnny Ray's restaurant. They really did a great job on remodeling this place. Once we entered, we were greeted asap and she gave us information on the restaurant and took our drink order. She then brought out some fresh chips and flavorful salsa. We ordered the lunch' specials which were the chimichanga with a taco and the empanadas with a taco and enchilada. By the way, happy hour starts at 11am!!!! Our food came out hot and fresh. This was the first time I had ordered empanadas and I will definitely will order them again here. Our server came by continuously to make sure we were good. After have a great lunch and great drinks, dessert was a must. The churros were amazing. They were hot and came with a caramel sauce that put them over the top. It was enough soup for two, I had lunch today will have lunch tomorrow, so $5.50 ain't bad. Plenty of shredded tasty chicken, if the tortillas had been broken into 1" pieces they would be perfect. I've been looking at this restaurant for a while. They have a small vegetarian section on their menu and their drink menu is impressive. I ended up not ordering anything at the beginning and planned on sticking to drinks, but my boyfriend got steak tacos and I joined in by ordering a burrito bowl salad without meat. I was really disappointed after reading the reviews of this place. It is a decent sized area with standard Mexican decor. The earlier reviews showed a much different menu and decor so maybe there has been some type of ownership change?? The menu is pretty big and varied. It was a Sunday around 11 when we went and there was no one in there but us, the salsa was not very good and didn't really taste fresh, queso was bland. We got chilaquiles and added steak but they didn't put the eggs on it, I'm not sure if she got confused and thought we didn't want the eggs or what, but it was unfortunate. The steak was unseasoned but the chips and verde sauce were good, would not come back for it. They had small margaritas 2 for 1 so we got those, after we were done eating it took 15 minutes for our waitress to come over and we ended up just walking to the register to get our check. Where to begin?!?! My wife and I have been searching states...not cities, but states...for tex-mex or quasi-authentic interior mexican food which compares to our years living in southern Texas. We found it here at Dos Tequilas. We've just moved to Chelsea and have been to Las Mesa's, which isn't pretty good, to be honest. However, Dos Tequilas blows it away with original recipe's and quality. The added bonuses are our server was really friendly and attentive and the drinks were just as good as Las Mesa's. Dos Tequilas was a nice surprise. A cute and quaint place, decorated softly, minimally. A big difference from most Mexican restaurants that I have been in. We started out with chips, salsa and queso. The salsa was perfect, very fresh and tasty. I like chunky salsa and it fit the bill. I asked for fresh jalapeños on the side for the queso. Fragrant&delicious with the warm queso. The chips didn't come out warm like I'd like, but I'll ask for warm chips next time. My husbands chicken tortilla soup was tasty. He asked for a cup of it, and they brought him a fairly large serving. My entree was plenty enough for two people, especially after enjoying the chips, salsa and queso. The shrimp and chicken quesadillas were delicious. They are a little different than the quesadillas I've had in many other Mexican restaurants. The guacamole and pico were fresh and tasty as well. Not impressed. Young waiter seems to have ADD and no sense of urgency. Took forever to get an order of salsa which at this restaurant you have to pay for. Paid $8 for a small bowl of guacamole that was pretty tasty. Service is slow, maybe because there isn't a waiter that looks older than 19 and young folk these days just don't seem to realize how valuable time can be. I will say that the food appears to be fresher than your average Mexican. My wife and I split fajitas. The meal came out Luke warm, no sizzle. The taste was okay but the amount of meat was skimpy for the price. The rice was good but the beans are mashed into a paste with the consistency of a canned Frito Lay bean dip. My son ordered chicken and beef chimichangas. Meh. The ground beef was ground to a powder like consistency with little flavor and the chicken was not very good at all. His frozen margarita tasted like styrofoam (seriously!). I've never been served fajitas that weren't sizzling and honestly I should have sent them back at that point. I believe they would have tasted much better if they had been properly served. In conclusion taken in totality our experience was worse than disappointing. Poor service, slow cook time, poor presentation with Luke warm temp and costs higher than your average Mexican food makes my visit a one time trip. It also confirms to me that the best Mexican to be had in Chelsea is at Tacos El Paisano on highway 11. We decided to give this place a go since it was the newest addition to Chelsea's small selection of restaurants. I have to say though that it was excellent and may be a new local go-to. Service was excellent, server was attentive and gave great recommendations. They also might have my favorite chips and salsa, the salsa was extremely fresh and the chips were warm and crisp. They also offer a great selection of drinks which tasted great as well. The entrees were the definite stand-out. Again everything tasted fresh and was a big step up from regular tex-mex food. I'm not sure if we came on an off day or what, but my husband and I didn't have the greatest experience. The chips, salsa, and queso were pretty good, nothing out of the ordinary. I had 3 different tacos- the chicken one was good, but the steak and carnitas were very dry and not seasoned well. Probably the driest carnitas I've had. The corn tortillas were not fresh. My husband had a steak burrito and they came out looking like 2 small enchiladas. He said his steak was very dry too and did not seem fresh. The service was okay but seemed a bit off. Went to eat here for the first time last night. I ordered the Steak Burritos, my wife ordered the Chicken Tortilla soup. Our food arrived very fast, in less than five minutes. The steak burritos were very big and looked great with visible steak on the ends of the burritos but that was all the steak there was the middle of the burritos was just fillings of vegetables, especially broccoli. Both burritos had on two or three small pieces of steak in them and the rest was vegetables. They should change the name to Vegetable Burritos, very misleading dish. The Chicken Tortilla soup was very good my wife said, nothing misleading about it. The service was good, very nice waiters and waitresses. The bar tenders were very good as well. Also I ordered a Queso dip that never arrived and they put it on my ticket, but removed it when I told them we never got the Queso dip. read more

The food is very good. The best Mexican in Chelsea. Except for the salsa which isn't too good in my opinion. Service is average. But the cost is killer. I mean this place is super expensive for Mexican. I'll pay more for good food but $3.49 for a soft drink is outrageous. I don't know of a single other restaurant that charges anywhere close to that. They have lunch "specials" for $10.49 that come with a free soft drink but it states "no refills". Oookay. If you want chicken on those lunch specials it takes it to $13.49 and hopefully you don't want your Pepsi refilled... So two people lunch is $27+tax+tip. Unless you don't order off the lunch menu and then your bill could be over $40+tax+tip like ours... So we'll eat here occasionally for the food but would eat here much more often if it was more reasonable. read more
