I visited Dr Patel for the mandatory Vaccination Report and Medical Examination needed by US…read moreImmigration Office. The receptionist/assistant gave me the reports but the form was an old version and so after i submitted it, the immigration office asked me to resubmit the form since the old version was unacceptable. The form was updated on March 30 2015, and i went for my medical examination on April 11, 2015. When i went again to get the report i was asked to pay the fees again for seeing the doctor and for having them fill out the form again. When i told the receptionist/assistant that it was their fault that they had given me the old version of the form, she said that it was my responsibility to get the form but they still provided it. Well i WAS NOT INFORMED by them to get the form on my own, neither the first time i went there, nor the second time. I was blamed and accused for the mistake i didnt make. I denied to pay the entire fees because it was actually their mistake but rather than accepting it, i was instead accused by them for having to make sure that the form should have had been a valid one. After arguing with them and getting insulted by the receptionist, Dr. Patel then asked me to pay only what i felt was right. It wasnt that i didnt mind to pay, it was the fact that the receptionist insulted me, screamed at me, accused me and blamed me for her mistakes. Dr. Patel i do not wish to taint your image because it was the fault of the receptionist. It was hard for me to accept the mistake when i didnt even make any. The receptionist even after accepting that it was a mistake on their part, was still blaming me and told me that it was my responsibility and not theirs, well then why was i charged money if actually it was my responsibility, and if i had to get the forms on my own then why wasnt i informed about it when i took an appointment over the phone.

I appreciated all the great reviews of Dr. Boyd and after weeks and weeks of trying to find a…read moredoctor I think I can trust, they helped me decide she was the doctor for me. So I called for an appointment and was told she could see me on August 18 (today is July 2). I have prescriptions that have to be monitored and maintained, and I also have a very painful issues with my arm. I don't think either can wait for August 18. They are two separate appointments and they won't combine them: one is "to establish care" and the other is an illness visit. Once I see her as a "wellness visit" on August 18, I would be able to "get in quicker" to see her in the future. For now, if I'd like to be seen and monitored by "someone else" who has more availability in their schedule I could do that. Well, I've had a terrible experience with a doctor in Chicago that left me with ongoing medical issues that could have been prevented. So I did my research and selected someone I felt I could trust. I was so very lucky to have that in New Orleans (from where I just moved) and I just wanted that again. I don't really want to see "someone else" that I don't know anything about and waiting 6+ weeks to see a doctor I researched heavily. So while I can't really rate Dr. Boyd herself, this is a warning to those who are looking for a doctor: even though her site says she is accepting new patients, I don't think she really has time for them. Be sure you can wait six weeks before seeing her if you choose her. I get why she's busy -- she's good. But why advertise that you're accepting new patients when you really don't have time for someone who needs you?

Truth be told, I prefer younger, female, Family Docs (as opposed to Internal Medicine) - just as personal preference - but she's absolutely lovely. Kind. Attentive. Concerned. All the things you want in a GP. Oh - and one last thing: At my previous practice, there would be a HUGE wait - I mean, HOURS. (But heaven forbid you be more than 10 minutes late...they would cancel your appointment.) Not so with Dr. Boyd. I never feel rushed, either. She's genuinely a good MD. Seriously.
