They lied to the home warranty company and I was charged for the service call they did not make. I tried to get in touch with them to have them come out to make good on the service since I was charged or refund me but Mike, the owner is the only one that answers the phone and he kept telling me I have to call the office. When I told him I called the 'office' several times and left several messages, he totally lost it, went unhinged and started screaming on the phone telling me that he's only the owner and he's having to deal with 4 employees, jobs, customers, and that he can't be responsible for the office and that he can't 'magically fly to the office,' etc. etc. and hung up on me. We needed 3 EV chargers installed. Mike started as very responsive throughout. But on the day of installs, decided to answer all calls and messages until it was time that he had given us. In the morning he called and said he's on his way and was getting the supplies and then stopped responding entirely. For the first hour, we called and messaged him a bunch of times to which he would not answer and hang up. Then after many many messages to see whether he'd make it, he sent a short message just saying he's not going to be there. I would NOT RECOMMEND Mike for any work as he showed a complete lack of ethics and professionalism on his part. I needed to add recess lighting around my house, since all I've been using were lamps. I contact Dorn Electric and spoke to Mike. He provided me with a great and reasonable quote. He and Tim were able to get the job done within a couple of weeks. They ended up adding recess lighting in the living room, dining room, kitchen, family room, hallways, upstairs hallway, laundry room and the master bedroom. They also installed ceiling fans in 3 rooms, which 2 rooms never had ceiling fans before. Their job was great! Mike was friendly and accommodating. If I needed anything specifically done he would get it done. He never left a project undone. After the project was finished, there were painters who came to paint the interior but needed to remove the lights. They removed them but ended up damaging them. I contacted Mike. He said he had to order the lights and as soon as he got them in he came to install them. I would say that during the time he and Tim were cutting out the drywall to fish the wires through there were so much drywall dust and debris that went everywhere. It was annoying to clean the appliances and other surfaces daily. Wished they had placed plastic wrapping around the area where the dust or debris would get onto so it would be more of an easy cleanup. Other than the dust and debris, overall, they did an amazing job! Good electricians are a priceless resource when you need them. Mike Dorn has been there for me twice now and this week he installed three separate circuits into my garage in preparation for new woodworking equipment i'm installing. It wasn't a complex job for a good journeyman electrician but that isn't what makes Mike Dorn such a great electrician and resource. Sure, he's totally competent, fast and precise with his work but what makes him great is his attitude and willingness to go beyond to get the job done. This week's work came up unexpectedly because Mike became available when another scheduled job was postponed. He called me and said he was available and could he come over to look at the work I had been planning for him. My garage was not fully cleared out and a wine refrigerator needed to be emptied and moved before he could install the new circuits. He could have showed up and said, "Give me a call when you have the wall cleared!". Instead, he showed up and saw what needed to be done and said, "No problem!" His partner helped me move the refrigerator (not before we emptied it of all 200 bottles to a safe place) while Mike went to work. The wall needed to be opened up and Mike had a recommendation on a great drywall tradesman and after we agreed, he called him and had him come right over to give me a quick quote. Mike finished all the electrical work using materials he had on his fully stocked truck so he didn't need to disappear for any time to get materials. The job was finished quickly and his drywall tradesman was back too and finished the wall the same day. I was amazed because I've seen how others handle these projects and it always seems to take twice or three times longer than necessary. Not so with Mike Dorn working the project. I had some issues with my electrical outlets in 2019 and called my Home Warranty to see if they would cover the work under warranty. They sent Mike out and I am extremely happy they did.
