That's when Jessica welcomes us. What a shinning star of an employee. We were unsure on the cocktails to order and she broke down the flavor profiles beautifully and gave top notch recommendations for the liquor choices. Then we mentioned we were looking at apps. We were very up front about this being our first experience and asked what she suggested of the two we were debating on. She then told us about a special that was more an entree but also would be a great app; the wonton nachos with pulled pork. Wow. Those were a shining star. We then got the 2&2, tried the smoked Turkey and Beef Tri Tip with sides of the Deviled Egg Potato Salad and fresh green beans. Did we forget to choose sauces like the menu said? Heck yeah we did, but Jessica came through clutch and picked the sauces she thought paired best with each meat and upon delivery, made sure we knew what was the best pairing. My god, was it perfect. The apple butter based sauce *was* perfect with the Turkey (and now i think it needs to be tried with the pork but i digress) and the Smokey hot bbq gave just the nicest spice for the tri tip. Was it the best barbecue we've ever had? I'm not gonna blow smoke, pun not intended. It was pretty good. I legitimately was so engrossed in the food i forgot i had a cocktail beside me. But what made it amazing is the care to the experience Jessica gave. She listened to our interests from the menu and helped make it an unforgettable dining experience that is going to bring us back again. And it was a very retro style and vibe that totally works. The hamburger was one of the best I've had. Of course, that brings back floods of great memories for him and the hot dogs stand is one vehicle to great feelings of nostalgia. It may not hit the same for just anyone who goes there. This great friend passed away before I could enjoy a dog with him. But my wife and I had the honor to stop there today, 1/2/2026. I was able to see the attraction to this small place that is barely a 12'x12' concrete block building. But you could feel the love from the one person who works there. She was a relatively young girl in her 20's. But our friends claim she has been working there for a good bit of time because they go to Williamsburg, VA twice each year. They stop on the way to and then again on the way back home to the Louisville/ Lexington KY area for them. She was very kind to my wife and I and let us use the "No Public Restroom" restroom since the gas station we stopped at before we got there had no public restroom. I included a picture of some of the items you can get on a hot dog. All beef Hotdog w/ chili sauce (spicy or mild). Slaw, onions and mustard was my choice.
