As someone who is very self-critical, and competitive with myself, I found the environment to be inclusive, friendly and non-judgmental....just what I needed/wanted. The workouts are well structured and easy to scale for all fitness levels. I love the mix of cardio, strength training, HIIT, movement exercises, etc. The owner, Zach, and the coaches are very helpful and knowledgeable which is something I was looking for because I tend to ask a lot of questions. They are happy to help you reach personal goals if you're like me and appreciate that kind of support and feedback. They are passionate about health and fitness - they often participate in the workouts which is encouraging when you're in the middle of a tough workout knowing that they've already been through it. I can't say enough good things about this gym and these people. It's also a bonus to have physical therapy available, on-sight. Jess is amazing and helped me with my hip mobility and recommended scaled movements specific to upcoming workouts (she is also a gym member which is awesome because she knows exactly what's going on in the workout cycles). Thanks to Vickery, I am in the best shape I've been in since college. I have to give Zach, Stefan, Rachel, and all the coaches credit for helping me get my life and confidence back. Also, how can you go wrong working out with dogs and good music? 10/10 recommend :)

While the flashy lights and aesthetics of other globo-gyms might be nice, they pale in comparison to the substance of Vickery's offerings. No other group class fitness gym has the coaching knowledge that provides a scale to an injured person or someone lacking the ability to do some of the scales. No other gym has the spirit Zach and the other coaches bring. It's not just a gym. It's a place where the workout is just as good for you as it is for the next person, regardless of their fitness level. VA forever.

I'm brand new to East Dallas CrossFit. A friend, whose also a certified CrossFit coach at another…read moregym, encouraged me to give EDCF a try since it's so close to our work. I was really nervous since I've heard how difficult CrossFit can be and how out of shape and overweight I've become over the past few years... I always thought you had to be in shape before you even try CrossFit. Being so disgusted and frustrated with my excessive weight gain (I've gained 120 pounds over the past 5 years) my friend signed me up for the free 1:1 intro course to give it a try... and, man, it was challenging but I found that I really did like enjoy it! I'm half way through my pre-course trainings and Ryan has been awesome. He's so patient and very thorough each time he teaches me a new movement or corrects my form. It's still challenging for me but not to the point where I feel defeated. It's more of a motivational challenge... which is definitely a sign of awesome coaching! I initially walked through the door to target my excessive weight gain but now I find my self setting little goals like where I'll try beat my time from a previous session. I still have a VERYYY long way to go but I'm really happy that I've found this place. Thank you Ryan & East DallasCrossFit. :)

I pulled up to East Dallas CrossFit a few months back to attend a free Saturday workout and see if…read moreCrossFit was right for me. I sat there in my truck, watching in the rear view mirror as the earlier class finished their workout. A bunch of incredibly fit people all lifting massive amounts of weight. All I could think was, "what have I gotten myself into?" I finally swallowed hard and went inside to try my hand at CrossFit. Ryan greeted me and after a few minutes I realized that I was the only person attending this workout. I wasn't sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing. I couldn't blend in to the crowd, but then again I didn't have to worry about embarrassing myself in front of anyone other than Ryan (and surely he had seen worse, hadn't he?). We started the warm up with some stretches, air squats and other movements that I could just barely do. So after a few minutes of warming up and another few minutes seeing where I was physically by asking me to try a few more movements, Ryan says, "OK, so now let's do the workout." I'm thinking, "that wasn't the workout?" So, I spent the next 10 or 12 minutes doing wall balls, ring rows and 200 meter runs until I felt like I was going to die, but I finished. I felt destroyed physically at the end of the workout, but proud that I had finished. It was only later that I realized that Ryan gave me a workout that was easy enough that I would finish, but difficult enough (based on my fitness level) that I would realize how hard I was going to have to work if I decided to join. I started the prep course a week or so later. On my second or third prep course class, the WOD (Workout Of the Day) was rowing and lifting. Once again, I felt like I might be in over my head, but this time it wasn't a coach, but another member, who came over after he finished his own workout and said, "come on man, that bar isn't going to lift itself!" He, along with several other people, encouraged me to finish the workout, which I did. I wondered to myself what kind of response my struggling to finish would have gotten from those working out around me at some other gym. I can only imagine that it would have been a sideways stare or the stink eye. That was the moment that I knew I was working out at the right place. Since that time Ryan, Trevor, and Drew have guided and corrected my form - and continue to do so, frequently - while the amazing community has supported my efforts. I can't imagine there is any gym better than East Dallas CrossFit. Excellent coaching, excellent community!

After the 20 second back and forth, I completed the entire workout,  feeling really bad for him and his behavior, but really perplexed at what I did to warrant the response I received to the situation.  Had I done something else that day or another day that brought this to a head?  I'm not sure honestly.  The next day I got an email that my membership was terminated, I guess no surprise given his petty behavior.  It's too bad b/c the other trainers are great.  I hope he realizes that members are customers, and happy customers equate to success for his business. Stay away if you are a customer who expects respect, understanding, and kindness for a service you are paying for.  Be kind to others and it will pay you back in volumes!

I attend the fitness classes, which combine strength and cardio work, without the more complicated barbell lifts found in CrossFit classes. If you're already in a healthy place, you should be able to jump in and go immediately. If you're more like I was a year ago, the coaches can help you understand how to ease into an exercise regimen in a healthy way that won't get you hurt. The Gym has a friendly atmosphere/culture. Everyone is encouraging and kind. The coaches are exceptionally helpful and unless you have extensive experience (and even if you do), I believe the coaching/help is worth the extra cost relative to what you'd spend at a mega-gym.

The class sizes are small, so there is a lot of personal attention given, which makes it an excellent value. Before a bike accident I was a competitive off-road athlete and my fitness achieved at the gym helped me to advance further and ride faster than I thought was possible. After the accident and starting over with fitness and mobility, the gym and coaches were great at helping me modify the workouts so that I could participate and rehabilitate. I love just being able to show up and have a plan ready to go, and the group workout environment is great whether you like it for competitive reasons or to just be around some friends. Whether you are a beginner or have years of experience, there is something for you at this gym!
