Graves on a…read morehill Indian Hill Cemetery was founded back in 1850 so it isn't one of the oldest graveyards in the area but it's location high on a hill certainly makes it one the most scenic. The lovely location attracted some of the most affluent and wealthy people in the state and many of the gravestones and memorials reflect this. Huge obelisks, fancy stones and unique and elaborate memorials are common in this cemetery. A spooky and very Gothic chapel stands on one side of the graveyard and it's a great place for a walk up and down the many hills. It's a huge cemetery and spectacular views of the surrounding area can be seen from the hills, especially in the fall. A wonderful and beautiful graveyard that is filled with amazing tombs and memorials to the deceased. I cant even imagine how much some of the largest and elaborate stones cost. A very cool, unique and stunning place to see how the wealthy and powerful were remembered.

A beautiful autumn day in New England... Leaves had fallen enough to open up the views ... Spectacular views! Gothic style chapel with interesting architectural details, probably made with brownstone shipped from across the river in Portland. It rates 4 stars for being a lovely spot for a busy person to take a quiet, peaceful, and serene walk in the middle of the city.

Once again, after losing a close relative last October, we are appreciative of the professional manner that the arrangements for our cousin were planned and perfectly executed by SHB.

Driven by this location many time was pretty surprised by the ease of getting in and getting out as the funeral was promptly after the business day concluded. There were ushers helping us park cars as it was a large gathering from in and out of state that was here to bid farewell to a friend and family. The lot was pretty tight yet served us well as I didn't have to fight for a spot and was heading inside. The staircase leading upstairs from the lot that I had parked was beautiful, though we all were dressed in black attire. Two different rooms for seating and the bigger room held the casket and visitors came to pay their respects. A decently sizes funeral home that some had to squeeze by others while there was still areas for groups to congregate. I imagine that a lot of thought and preparation was put into honoring this man and this funeral home did him justice. Cannot speak to the procession the day after to the cemetery as I couldn't attend but I imagine thar it was well organized and handle the business of the Elmwood West Hartford area.

Whenever I felt unsure about a certain decision I was about to make, the details were explained to me, allowing me to make the best decision for myself and my spouse. Everything that should be provided by a first-rate service was provided. Abbey Cremation Service was recommended by the caring folks at Middlesex Hospital Hospice Care, and I thank them for it. I was able to arrange for many of the details ahead of time, which does help tremendously in securing the arrangements that best suit your needs. I recommend Abbey for their service, value and professionalism.
